My worst nightmare on a plane is being stuck near a strongly perfumed person. It's such an invasion of my personal space because there's no escape! I'd love to tell them to bathe more frequently so that they wouldn't need to cover up odors with vile perfume.
When you asked Jacq about Pet Peeves, I was hoping that she would say: "annoying guys with cameras, talking to themselves" And then you threw water on her...
I went on this exact same flight back in December of 2017 - I found it great. Hope to see you at Avalon 2019, keep up with the awesome video and content!! You’re an inspiration to me.. I’m doing first solo tomororw.
I reckon the only reason this business class exists is for flights from cairns and the gold coast to japan. So the gold coast has a "business" class option
Not going to hate on JQ as their price point is super competitive, but really feel this would be more honestly sold as a premium economy than true business class on a 787. If they did this I suspect they'd routine get more trade too as a lot of people without tons of FF points (especially those flying JQ, who are typically going to be much more price sensitive) won't even bother looking at J fares as they'll just assume they're unaffordable for longer flights. Plus, as a premium economy product, it would rank *really* well rather than being a not great business one.
I walked around a Qantas 380 one day because I had to get out of my seat . The 3 seats in front all came back as soon as they finished there meals & stayed there until they were forced by cabin crew to put them back up. I had a back problem so I was in agony by the end of the flight . I figured walking around the plane that about 30% of passengers wound their seat right back . I paid for my seat too like you said . The guy in front about 5ft 10in was raving what a comfortable flight he had but didn’t mention it was .at my expense.
Pet peeves on an aircraft? As an operating crew member, passengers generally Stefan. Not listening to the safety demo, talking on mobiles or working on laptops having been asked multiple times to stop & put them away pre take off or landing. But then as crew we see things differently 😉
As a pilot I’d have to agree. When I see people with headphones in during the safety briefing, or just chatting to another passenger, or staring out the window, I often wonder how much of a hindrance they’d be in an emergency situation. This is why we have pax who carry bags in an evacuation, or inflate life jackets inside the aircraft.
That would be like comparing Qantas Economy class to Jetstar economy class. Of course the seat pitch is going to be tighter on a LCC such as Jetstar , as compared to a legacy airline like Qantas .
ok video, I would have liked to see more about in the seat, that is the jacks used for earphones, can you plug in your Ipad or phone and watch your own movie on the sceen in the seat? stuff like that.
The IFE feature for chatting with other passengers is an interesting idea. I wonder how it when it would be used other than for fun to talk to your family sitting right next to you?
As a curmudgeon who likes to just read my book or watch my movie without having to make uncomfortable small talk, it seems like hell in the sky to have dozens or possibly hundreds of people trying to chat.
Great that you promoted another company. Took note of it so when in your area I'll know who to call for transportation. You looked cramped in the seats. Yeah, I'm 6'3" 260lbs. Planning a trip to Germany. Not looking forward to the flight. Thanks for the info.
Pet peeves, definitely reclining on a day flight. Plus those who, on boarding fiddle about with their bags in the overhead locker causing a traffic jam. Have separate must haves for the flight in a small separate bag to put under the seat in front. No hold ups then.
Thanks as always Marc. We had a good flight thanks, but I think a full, detailed, review of Jetstar may appear on the channel after we fly back. There's a few more things to discuss which I think would make for a useful video.
Hmm. Re your ref, as I understand, to QF tier credits not being earnable on Jetstar. I need one extra flight to retain QF Gold, so I recently contacted Qantas by phone and was told that a Jetstar flight would qualify. I'd better re-check.
You can buy the “max bundle” with Jetstar which will earn your QFF status credits. But we booked the base rate which didn’t. Not sure if you can add the max bundle after booking so check that for sure.
Yeah we should be getting a third runway, East/West on the Southern side of the airfield. Not sure on specific timings but the people at the airport I’ve spoken to are pretty confident it’s coming.
Great video.....but where was the verdict. Would you pay the double and go Qantas ???? To me, I would pay the premium and go Qantas (or stick to Qantas economy if couldn't afford and give Jetstar the wide berth )
Stefan, when we flew to Singapore we went on Scoot airlines and used their business class. I think return we got the flights for $1000 return. Very no frills like Jetstar but it was a very enjoyable flight. It was also on a 787 Dreamliner.
I am dreaming to fly to ADL and back from SYD - But I would like to visit New Zealand, too.... Because of the limitation of 30kg for Business Class passengers with Qantas I would choose Air New Zealand which allows 3x 23kg (max.).
Nice video Stef. Jacq seems much happier now in front of the camera? Nice also to see your daughter travelling with you. My two children have long since grown up and fled the nest but it was always very special to travel together!
I've only been able to compare Jetstar and Qantas Domestically, but for me Jetstar is below sub par. Even out done by Rex. How do you compare the pair Stef?
Based on the comments I’m going to shoot a full “review” video on Jetstar after our return flight. But so far, I honestly think there’s a lot that could change.
Stefan! Just found you on my TH-cam recommended videos! Loved the video. Your content is great and the your video editing is on point! Subscribed! Can't wait to watch other videos of yours! Agree with you completely about how inconvenient it is to get out of Melb airport! It's the second biggest city in Aus and they don't have other options than taxi/uber or bus! I'm from Brisbane so it's a tiny airport compared to Syd/Melb haha
Hey there, thanks for checking out the videos and thanks for subscribing! Welcome to the channel. And yeah, the journey to Tullamarine is probably the worst part of flying out of Melbourne. I don't think it'll be the last time we see Brian on this channel :) Thanks again mate.
Nice video Stef, I love the look of the 787 and I'll be having my first experience of here as I take the 'international' flight from Perth to Melbourne on a Qantas 787-9. Very much looking forward to that!
Thanks Ben, we didn't have a decent look at the food so I didn't think it was fair to include any of it in this video. I'm planning on more of a 'review' video of JQ after we've flown on the way back, so if we have the food then I'll be sure to include that in this video. Thanks for watching.
Looked like a pretty good flight and could not agree more re seat recline...I usually use my knees to constantly hit the rear of the seat in front! Annoys the crap out of the recliner!! Once on a flight from Rio to Santiago the man in front reclined his seat straight after take off and I was literally wedged into the seat. I asked him in a very polite manner to raise it so I could get out of the seat and he refused. So for the next 4 hours I just kept pushing my knees into the seat and after a while he gave up and returned it to the normal position. UUghh!! Looking forward to your onward journey and I take it the Silver shoes are not yours we saw in Melbourne ?
I hear you Craig, it’s really selfish I find. Unless there’s nobody behind me I honestly find it hard to recline a seat on an airplane. For someone to whack the button and slam into your lap as the aircraft is barely airborne, is such a selfish act. And ha, yep, that’s my daughter who has better airport style than me these days. Wish they made those shoes in my size!
Great video and nice to see your family, love how your wife is so professional when point to the flight board displaying your flight. The content of your videos are great, for me you keep it natural when filming. Happy Holiday ✈️
Thanks Stewart, I appreciate the feedback, and I don't think travel would be the same without Jacq presenting our destination to me on the departures board 😂Thanks as always, stef
There is a big difference between Air New Zealand and Jetstar. In NZ you fly Air NZ so you have lounge access, great service and will arrive on time. Domestically Jetstar are terrible.
I guess a lot of travellers chose the cheapest option to their destination and don't consider any other details. Your daughter has great taste in shoes, thanks mate
Those amenity kits should come with small towels for the inevitable spillage... (I've done that, too). At least it was water and not a juice or other drink... BTW, I chuckled that you and your daughter shared the same exasperation in Duty Free...
I feel like it would be a much better comparison to compare Qantas premium economy fares to Jetstar 'business' Class tbh. I'd hate to see what their economy is like haha
Oh god I have sooo many pet peeves on planes. Reclining seats right after takeoff annoys me but at least they’re usually consistent, I was on an Emirates plane the other day and someone did that but then put it forward and back and forward and back heaps of times when I was watching a film. Also loud people, there were these Chinese people next to us who obviously couldn’t speak English so yelled at each other during the safety video 😤 but I’ve never come into contact with people walking around with no shoes or socks and hopefully I never will.
I flew Melbourne too Bangkok Jetstar Row 1 seats very comfortable it’s only premium buisness but after going qantas buisness too Bangkok in buisness I will never go Jetstar again qantas is way better
Pet air travel peeves? Don't get me started! Another great vid, Stef, with the usual informal mix of fact, opinion and humour 👍 Laughed out loud at the seat text exchange which instantly brought back memories of the bug on KJN's windscreen on one of your flights. It (the bug) said exactly the same thing! "sup?" 😂😂
When someone reclines into me and I'm either a) eating b) using the in-flight entertainment (Jetstar doesn't have a swivel one like virgin) or c) they are like 4 to 5 foot tall, I'm 5 9 or 5 10 and if a 4 11 gremlin thinks they need more room than me I'm Gonna pull my big DSLR out and be as loud as Logan Paul the whole flight
I love Qantas and am a FF with them, I also have Gold Status with VA, but I CAN NOT, CAN NOT stomach Jetstar. I just can’t bring myself to fly with them. I use a wheelchair. I’m quite capable, I am a specialist in the health sector, I’m studying for my PPL, I’m able to manage quite well, BUT: I’ve been denied travel by Jetstar on 3 separate occasions because I need to bring my wheelchair with me. On the couple of occasions I have been able to get the flight I needed, the disrespect has been immense! I shall never set foot on one of their aircraft as long as I live, whatever the price difference. Nothing is worth the humiliation and stress they bring on, for no reason whatsoever.
Thanks for sharing that, and I’m really sorry you’ve had to go through that experience. I’m planning a fuller review video of Jetstar after our return flight, but so far it’s not been the best experience for sure.
Stefan Drury Thanks Steph. It’s all good. I really love your videos. They’re awesome. I look forward to the full review. The funny thing is: I fly quite a lot, I’ve got 6 flights this week alone. Some for work, some for fun. They’ll never get a cent of my cash. 😂😂
Agreed, they cancelled a return flight for me from Singapore to Melbourne and even though I paid for business was put on an economy flight with another airline, despite saying in writing that they would cover me for a business class airfare on the next available flight. I just don’t trust them and will never fly with them again.
What’s up with the chat request on your screen at the end? So now, not only do I have to deal with chatty seat mates, but ANYONE can try to start a conversation??🤐😒
From what we saw when we were playing with it, you have to both be in the chat app, and you have to accept the other user before you can chat. So I don’t think you can just pop a message up on someone else’s screen (thankfully!)
If you are going to review a business class flight why would you eat in the lounge before the flight and then miss the opportunity to review the food - doesn't make sense.
Dude, seriously, your accent is starting to turn Australian. At the beginning of the clip you're pronouncing your vowels just like an Aussie. At the moment they're a bit shortened which is more like the Kiwi accent but you can easily tell they're opening up to be stressed vowels which are very Australian!
This might just be the best flight review video I’ve ever seen. Very informative, very casual and so engaging, keep doing what you’re doing - go you!
Thanks Elliot, it’s great to know you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
That is so not business class, it’s definitely premium economy
Tara Dean no it’s business
To Jetstar, it is Bussiness
I live in Australia and Jetstar is one of or worst Airlines and to them that Business
Ben Crellin
I live in Australia too 😀
Ben Crellin they’re a low cost airline they’re not supposed to be good.
My worst nightmare on a plane is being stuck near a strongly perfumed person. It's such an invasion of my personal space because there's no escape! I'd love to tell them to bathe more frequently so that they wouldn't need to cover up odors with vile perfume.

Haha, just showed this comment to Jacq and she laughed too. Thanks a lot Tony 😂
Looks like premium economy on a full service airline to me🤔
If you call up seat guru and look at a 789 you will see Qantas has the same spec for premium economy.
Absolutely. Should be rebranded as Jetstar Plus. Quite misleading to people not in the know
I went on this exact same flight back in December of 2017 - I found it great. Hope to see you at Avalon 2019, keep up with the awesome video and content!! You’re an inspiration to me.. I’m doing first solo tomororw.

Im hoping to fly SQ in a couple of months actually, watch this space...

Jetstar should get more credit for having a pen in the amenities kit. All airlines should do that!
Until your daughter sits on it and gets ink all over her pants...
yes because we need more plastic in landfill or our seas.
ok video, I would have liked to see more about in the seat, that is the jacks used for earphones, can you plug in your Ipad or phone and watch your own movie on the sceen in the seat? stuff like that.
Great video Stef, can't wait to see what places you'll be visiting in Singapore, It's such a place.
The IFE feature for chatting with other passengers is an interesting idea. I wonder how it when it would be used other than for fun to talk to your family sitting right next to you?

Great. Review as usual.....and so quick!
Thanks, I do a lot of my editing on the flight itself, you can knock a lot out on the 7hr flight when everyone else is asleep :)
Great that you promoted another company. Took note of it so when in your area I'll know who to call for transportation. You looked cramped in the seats. Yeah, I'm 6'3" 260lbs. Planning a trip to Germany. Not looking forward to the flight. Thanks for the info.

Awesome video Stef, loved the change up of airlines. Hope you enjoyed your flight :)

@@StefanDrury Awesome looking forward to it :)
Wow amazing flight review on Jetstar 787 from Melbourne to Singapore ✈️. Keep up the awesome vids Stefan❤️👍
Thanks for watching Patrick 👍
Also is there anyway to keep your leg elevated in Jetstar business class cos we only got it cos the hospital advised it
Never had any luck with the Jetstar service Stefan. Always way overcrowded at the gates, congrats on the endorsed vlog.
Great video. I love how relaxed you are in your vids. Also at 7:50 I have always done the same thing too!
Always pleased to see a trip report from you Stefan. Very enjoyable and of course informative!

Yeah we should be getting a third runway, East/West on the Southern side of the airfield. Not sure on specific timings but the people at the airport I’ve spoken to are pretty confident it’s coming.
Oh and also, thanks for watching the videos mate 👍
Thanks for the tip at the start, I live in the Brighton area, so it takes forever to get to the airport.
I would prefer Qantas economy class. That is not a business class at all, more than economy class but less than premium economy.
Love these vids
Thanks Fraser, much appreciated ✈️👍
Great video.....but where was the verdict.
Would you pay the double and go Qantas ????
To me, I would pay the premium and go Qantas (or stick to Qantas economy if couldn't afford and give Jetstar the wide berth )
I’m going to do a full “my honest thoughts on Jetstar business” after our return flight, just to give a proper review. Stay tuned...
Look forward to it mate 👍

Stefan you are a top class retiever .
So now I understand your tweet poll and the reason for it... Keep them coming Stef...
Yeah I thought I’d gauge whether others agreed with what I was saying. Very interesting to see the responses. Cheers Robert.

Yes where is the food, everyone is hungry!?
Have flown jetstar 'business' (as others have said its premium economy) a few times to Bangkok and Phuket. Foods pretty rank.
Looked like a pretty good flight and could not agree more re seat recline...I usually use my knees to constantly hit the rear of the seat in front! Annoys the crap out of the recliner!! Jetstar = LCC. Says it all. I wouldn't expect Tier 1 service from any LCC.
Yum yum
Do you earn qantas points on a Jetstar business class flight?
only if you purchase business max ticket
this is NO WAY a business class, its more like a premium economy
It's a budget airline
Hey I know that JQ7 will be gone in the year. 😭
3rd Dec 2019 to be exact although I have doubts it will be till then
Pet air travel peeves? Don't get me started!

I know this is mostly for a video but people go on Jetstar because it’s cheap! If you can afford business class go on a decent airline!
My pet peeve is people put their leg on the seat infront of them, or they keep pushing the front seats
In my opinion Jetstar is an airline for people who can’t afford qantas AKA me
Wow Jetstar 787 business class is shocking seem so claustrophobic and narrow
The room is SO limited that I cannot open my laptop when the seat is fully required. 8-(
About an extra $800 for 2 inches extra legroom and some food! No thanks!
