Good Smile Company is re-releasing this figma again, but after watching this interview, I decided not to get it. That butterface really kills it.

2nd face scared the crap out of me!
I got this figure today and mine's face is almost exactly like the one on the box, so I'm lucky. But so far most reviews I've seen have a good facepaint job, so I guess you're one of the few unlucky ones.
The hands do easily fall off the joints, so I had to make the pegs on the joints a tiny bit thicker with some glue and now they stopped slipping off.
This is my favorite appearance of Solid Snake, although your review makes me wanna be careful when seeking this guy out, because of the face. Still, awesome review.

I think you're an excellent reviewer and there's a reason I come back and watch new videos even about figures that don't interest me that much.
Having said that, I noticed you're usually too lenient on Figma. Since your attention to detail is top notch, you do show everything that's wrong with the figure. At least half of the video consists in showcasing the problems with the face; the colors in the suit being slightly off and too bright; the looseness in the torso and how unappealing that alternate face is. But somehow in your final statement you say this is a "damn good figma". I think most of the comments speak for themselves about what's the consensus on this one. In fact, considering you do own several figmas and just reviewed a pretty nice one (from Kancolle), it's even more surprising to see your reaction.
I agree that the promo pics more often than not look better than what we get, but this is honestly much worse than figma Thor and we could debate about Cap America (they did make a better sculpt for the body, but to me making most of the butt a soft plastic piece is just cheap and will wear out sooner than you think. It's acceptable for skirts, not for muscular dudes that are required to do several physically demanding poses).
The nail in he coffin is the price point, I believe. If this figma is offered in a sale, I will no doubt consider buying it and risking to do slight modifications to the face (paint-wise), since the mold is actually quite decent. But at its premium price this should be MUCH better than it is, and therefore I can't consider it good but just decent if you're a huge fan.
I hope they address some of these points if they ever release Big Boss or Raiden. I apologize for the length of this message but since you do put a lot of effort in these videos I thought it was adequate to received such feedback.
Hey man, thanks for the feedback. I do think that it is a damn good figma, I'm impressed as usual. To be honest I was most of the way through the review when I noticed that the face and the one on the box were completely different. The face isn't the worst, under close scrutiny most figures, especially small scale figures don't look the greatest, one of the main reasons I don't review some figure lines like revoltech, which look fine in you're hand but once you zoom in they look like Sylvester Stallone's mother! (O_O) In your hands or on a shelf snake looks amazing, it's just up close he looks botchy. I had already recorded the section about his face saying that it looked quite good. But once I noticed the box which looks infinitely better, I had to redo that section, and comment on the face in comparison to the box.
As for the color it's not the first time a figma, or any figure for that matter, has been a bit different to the stock photos, so I didn't want to dwell on that one. It sucks, but it's not the worst.
As it is it's a great figma, but because the one on the box is much, much better, I had to speak about it in a relative sense.
Figma have been getting exponentially more expensive over the last few years, but a great deal better than they used to be. Sadly quality control seems to be loosening in the last while as well.
I do plan on requesting a replacement head as a sort of experiment. Will they say it's within an acceptable margin of error, or send me one closer to the one on the box I wonder? Maybe I should make a video on my experience! 😁
Mecha Gaikotsu I definitely understand what you mean about small scale figure's heads not looking the greatest under close scrutinity. I've also seen how many times the newest HD cameras are so superior to our own eyes capturing every single detail that these figures honestly look way better when you're holding them in your hand in comparison. I have no doubt Snake looks better in person and like I've said, with a bit of some expert touches the face could look more similar to the box no doubt.
The point is, most of us aren't that good of an artist nor we shouldn't be making those changes to begin with. Granted, doing a realistic looking character like Snake is going to be more difficult than random schoolgirl #23 (speaking about that, the love live figmas look promising), but if MFactory is going the extra mile and charging a premium price for it (EVEN considering the increasingly inflating prices, snake's price is similar to recent sentinel figures that have diecast parts and are high-end collectibles), I just expect better. As good as the promo pics? no, I'm not naive. But better than what we got.
Believe me, I'm no elitist regarding flaws in my figures; some of the ones I own present some flaws but I still like them a lot. I think what compells us to buy this stuff is the kind of attachment one feels to a franchise or character and....like one reviewer used to say, it all boils down to the question: "does it capture the power/essence/spirit of the series/character?". This particular figma only does an acceptable job at it, but the glaring issue is that it tries to charge you like it's way better. I truly feel they cheaped their way out of this big time. Is this as bad as Figma Indy Jones? not even close, but it's also not good enough and they should strive for better QC (as you stated) cause this is not an actual toy for kids but a collectable for adults.

Actually I got mine a couple of days ago and the standard face looks perfect, exactly like in the promos but I was bummed down when I saw the clenched teeth face and the beard was all spotty like yours also I thought both faces would have posable eyes, aside from that the same issues with the waist and chest popping off and being loose and on mine at least the hands don't fit tightly on the peg and just fall off when I try to pose him .-.
Also you forgot to mention the hair articulation :v
But Great review, was waiting for it, and about the suit looking green, its that in mgs2 it is like that but in smash they gave him big bosses face and made his suit grayer

This figure looks disappointing compared to the promo pictures. The face is the biggest failure. It lacks the depth and detail shown in the promo pictures. I don't like the teal color of the suit either. It looks like the figure was dragged through the dirt. Over all, this just doesn't seem like it's up to usual Figma standards of quality.

Good review. Don't be afraid to say you don't like something on a figure. If you don't like it, say it out loud. There will be aways assholes with bad comments and different opinions.

Totally not worth the purchase of this figure. The face is awful but that loose torso/chest joint is bad. You can tell overtime that joint will weakened and become even more loose or even break. A total disappointment(coming from a person who has played all the mgs games) and you should not sugar coat this figure as the failure product it is. The prices for this figure is also absurd. Anyway keep up the great work and hope to see a silent hill nurse figma review :)

A figma cyborg ninja would be awesome, but somehow I don't see that happening. You rarely see figures 'overlap', usually one company seems to get their hands on the license for the character, and there's already a revoltech of him already

Remember the very beginning of MGS2 you play as snake then after the ship you see snake swimming then he takes his mask off and now he's a blonde teenager yeah very good memories
While I do like figmas there's one thing I wish they'd change, the join connections. I can't count how many times I've bought a figma only for the arm and legs to pop off when I try to pose them. It's pretty annoying but maybe I'm just asking for too much.

Yo Mecha I was watching other's reviews on this figma and they had no issues with the face. Their snake's face looked like the one promised in the art. You might have got unlucky. Maybe you could call goodsmile on quality control? I order mine and it has yet to come, so I hope it doesn't have that problem. Great review as always though!
There seems to have been a lot of paint variance on this guys face. Some people got pretty good looking ones, and you seem to have gotten unlucky with yours. That, and I'm not too sure, but you might not be locking the head pieces together properly, cause there really shouldn't be a huge gap between the bandana and his eyes.
Will Figma be producing more MGS figures? I'm not a fan of this Snake. I like his MGS1 appearance. A Gray Fox, Sniper Wolf and Mantis would be sweet as well.

My version has an extremely loose torso to hip connection, can't barley stand up without the figma stand
How to see if the toys is reissue or not?
this is a fake chineese one from Aliexpress! Even the bandanage on his stirn is not the correct ize as on the original! On the original one the bandanage goes till his eyebrows. Here is a huge distance between it. Color is to bright on his suite too! But the original one cost 90 Dollar and the fake cost 17 so.....

compare the real ones! One eye is different then the other on your figure! On the original one its identical. Plus the color is also to bright blue. Amazon has so much fake stuff you cant imagine!

+Jared Saenz to be honest ive bought a chinese figur from Aliexpress and im very pleased! The eyes look superb! Not like this figure in the video like an asian solid snake. The eyes are identical. Payed 17 Euros and it was worth it! Everything that comes with the real one came with the chinese version. PErfect copy of the original! Even the product picture on aliexpress showed a chinese looking solid snake! But what ive got is like the original one. NEVER in life would i pay 90 Euro for this. The fake looks just to good.

The snake does not have loose torso, you can snap in the torso on the ball joint and tighten it. It functions just like the newer Torso that Free ! figures have, loosen it for more poses but you do have the option to tighten it. My snake Torso is Solid and I am sure yours might be too.
I really hope they release a Raiden Figure (not Cyborg but the MGS 2 Raiden hopefully with a katana).

Only disappointing thing about figma Solid Snake is that the SOCOM is a Good Smile shop exclusive and the lack of accessories. I like it more than my Revoltech Naked Snake, but I wish it had more to follow up with.

I was debating getting him, but being priced at 7800 yen, more expensive than your average figma, I decided to watch a review to see how it looks. That face broke the deal for me, max factory is usually so good about detailed faces, but that just doesn't looks right, especially when compared to the image on the box. It's a bummer, but I'll just have to sit happy with my Revoltech Naked Snake instead.

I got mine today. The suit on mine isnt as teal its more navy colored and the face looks closer to the prototype. Still not good but decent.

Both the figma /and/ the nendoroid Solid Snake have really loose torsos. It was a pain to pose nendo Snake because his torso and other parts would constantly be falling off. I think the falling apart bodies are a constant with super movable nendoroids, but Snake was the worst in my opinion. On another note, I'm glad figma Snake have trigger discipline.
It seems the Snake you got was one of the bad ones, ussually they are better
