When you consider the ability to become immune to everything short of almighty damage, this was kind of a given.

I guess this is how some Smash Brackets have gotta be, when you're matching up every fighter in Smash. But that doesn't detract from how well made this is. The battle and analysis were well-thought out and enjoyable. I also like how you kept the spoilers vague, for Joker's analysis anyway, as me and others haven't played these games yet
Well i mean Joker vs Snake is a complete mismatch but that's the thing: it's Smash Bros fighters fighting one another. It's not Death Battle where the connection for each fighter is gonna have some sense or have similarities.
I love the reference to the reaper getting the flu. The dialogue in this was pretty humorous. Good stuff as always.
I really liked how you handled the analysis sections. You showed both series and characters a lot of respect while also being able to joke about the goofier aspects of their games.
Males since, one of them is literally called Joker.
This was 100% worth the wait, what a spectacular animation that you can easily tell how much passion and love was put into this, can’t wait for more 3D Battles!

That was amazing, love just everything about this, Joker's analysis was another slapper and snake's was great too, love the stylistic choices for the animation and how interesting it was, I'd definitely put this as a solid 9/10 for bracket episodes so far

I'll be honest, the animation and was kinda the only thing I disliked about this, but it's not terrible, I wouldn't expect everyone to be masters at animation (3D animation at that).

This was awesome! I loved how you incorperated Oticon and the other Phantom Thieves into the fight! I'm so stoked for Ken vs Terry!
Jokers analysis: fantastic, it covered the points I wanted in a joker analysis perfectly.
Snakes analysis: fantastic, I don’t know a ton about snake, but it brought up a lot of cool information and got me to want to try a metal gear game.
The pre-animation story: solid. I was particularly interested, not all of the jokes landed, although some did, but overall it was cool for you to even think to add it in the first place.
Animation: If I’m being honest, it was a little janky for my taste. Considering this show doesn’t have the largest budget, I can’t exactly blame y’all that much for the jank, but it was distracting in multiple points throughout the fight. The choreography was pretty good, though, I liked the way joker personas interacted with snakes gadgets, and it did a good job showing jokers massive power difference while making it seem like snake still had a chance because of how intelligent and prepared he is. I… honestly am still having a hard time getting over the jank of the animation itself, but I think the really well done choreography saved it.
Conclusion: would have admittedly appreciated some stats rather some statements, but it was explained really well and covered good points.
Overall: 8/10. The analysis and fight choreography, on top of the massive amount of care put into joker and snake really carried this episode, keep up the good work. If you for some reason deciding to read this stupidly long comment, then thank you, and I hope you have a fantastic day.

I knew snake wasn't going to win, but personally I'm just happy that Snake at least tried instead of it being a 5 second stomp like Lucina vs ROB.
Honestly, I for one LOVE the simple conversation interactions, and I really hope that you continue it in other battles. I 100% want to see more 'talking' instead of senseless violence. It's awesome to see characters prepare for a fight rather than just going right into it guns blazing you'know?
Excellent video, loved going through each fighter’s capabilities and relevant information in a timely manor, and the 3D animation was honestly super well done. There were a couple moments (mainly at the ending) that I noticed it looked a bit off, but everything else was stellar, you guys should be proud.
Joker is my favorite video game character of all time, and Persona 5 Royal is my second favorite game of all time, so to say that I was rooting for Joker would be an understatement; mad props to the VA’s for doing a pretty good job imitating each character, Metal Gear characters included. The ending went about as I expected; Snake is the ultimate soldier who can singlehandedly destroy giant mechs and infiltrate top secret facilities, but Joker (with the rest of the Phantom Thieves help mind you) has defeated multiple mythological beings, other people who can wield these mythological beings, and has defeated a god three separate times. Show’s over.
That was freaking awesome! Despite the bits of jank (which weren't as bad as I expected), everything else was incredible. A story being told, the characters actually feeling in character rather than fighting like Dragon Ball characters, and House of Cards setting up the mood perfectly! Everyone one the team should feel proud; you guys did an outstanding job! Can't wait for the upcoming street fury.
I gotta give some criticism here.
No disrespect to the animator, but there was definitely parts where the animations felt stiff or just didn't feel right. For example Joker running at the end looked really off. I might be a bit spoiled by Death Battle animations. It wasn't all bad though. There were definitely some cool moments here and there. Joker flipping while shooting his gun and Snake beating up Alice were pretty good.
I also think the fight felt a little short. I imagine part of that is due to how difficult it is animating this stuff which I understand, but I think part of it is also I think the Snake, Ottacon, and Futaba scene went on a little too long. It's a cool idea, but it kind of killed the pacing of the fight for especially with how fast the fight ended after that scene. I think it would have worked better if it was a little shorter or if the fight was a bit longer.
I also felt the fight animation was a little too one sided. I get the stats at the end show it was one sided, but I think for vs shows like this the animation should feel even for both characters. I never really thought at any point Joker was going to lose this. Even when he was visibly taken by surprised by Snakes trick in the end it didn't seem to do anything to him. I think it should have at least have disoriented him or something. Also I kind of wished the Metal gear put up a little more of a fight at the end.
This one isn't a big deal, but I do kind of wished you compared Ottacon and Futaba as support and tech skills. Like would Futaba be able to hack Ottacon? I can understand why since the focus was on Joker and Snake, but it still would be interesting to see.
Sorry if I sounded overly negative about the episode, because I definitely didn't hate it but these problems did stick out to me a little.

Hard disagree, I'm not going to discredit them for not pretending that this was an absurd stomp.
@@buzter8135 yeah but if that’s the case, just don’t do the mu. Joker VS Bayonetta is right there. Also they didn’t give Kirby VS Jigglypuff the same treatment and that was arguably a bigger stomp.
@@7-BIT Same character versus a considerably stronger opponent than his last victim, but is still a wash in his favor but this time it's not the equivalent of an elephant walking over a roach that was already dead.
Kirby got hardcore low balled and still won Even the most generously scaled puff would've faltered and yeah people scarfed that down because its actually a fitting matchup and didn't feel like it in the actual battle.
This was excellent! You guys always produce such good content in a surprisingly small amount of time.

I rate this episode 8.5/10. The analysis were both great, but the fight was a bit worse than expected. Not bad by any means, just good. Although I should've expected the sort of janky animation, I'm not sure how I feel about the voice acting. Joker and Otacon's voices were definitely not bad in hindsight, but they don't really sound like their video game counterparts. And there you go. That's my full review of the episode.
Edit: After a rewatch, I realize that I'm just nitpicking. Regardless of all the flaws, this episode is incredible.
That’s a fair review. Honestly, I felt the same way. I know I probably shouldn’t expect super over-the-top high quality animation, but yeah those areas are a bit weaker than I expected. Regardless, the research, the outcome, the character portrayals, and pretty much everything else aside from the meh voice work and animation are seriously very good. (I of course mean no disrespect to the actors and animators in this, it was still good enough that I could let it slide)
I feel the same, there are undoubted flaws but this is an extremely ambitious episode, really pushing the limits of what can be done with so few resources, and it's amazing what they were able to pull off despite the constraints.

Edit 1: I love that clever reference at 19:23 to how you could easily beat a super boss based off of ol' Grim himself by waiting for Flu Season.

I love this fight! The wait was definitely worth and I was impressed by the voice acting, the fight and the ending! I can't wait to see the alt ending (if there is gonna be one) and I really REALLY can't wait to see Ken vs Terry (or Ten vs Kerry)

I’m not one to comment on the quality of vs shows, BUT THE PRESENTATION AND SET UP ALONE JUST OOZES CHARM. I absolutely adored the interactions between Snake and Futaba. Snake never letting his guard down too was also a great touch as he keeps otacon’s orders to a T. For as long as this took, it managed to deliver on the hype and then some. Excellent work to the Smash Bracket team!!

I give you massive props for somehow making jokers analysis mostly spoiler free yet exhaustive and well researched. Althrough I feel like maybe like with pokemon it could have been good to note some more common abilities persona have like status effects and debuffs since they are also quite important to smt gameplay in general

Cool analysis and animation! I just don’t feel like snake would expose himself in that metal gear, it feels kinda uncharacteristic and it feels like he would maybe use it as a distraction instead while he shoots Joker with a wormhole behind. He’s thought up crazier strategies on the spot before.
Also the fact that the other phantom thieves woke up when a knockout from snake can take hours of in game time to wake up from feels a little cheap. If putting Snake up against a powerful opponent, why make it more than one?
This man deserves over 1million subscribers! This is outstanding work that most animated movies can't get right!

This was a truly fantastic animation and very entertaining, oh and poor Kirby LOL. I saw that small clip of wolf O'Donnell and incineroar, as a Star Fox superfan, I'm highly looking forward to that. And to see of course, how you handle the analysis. Now I think for fun I may try to find my old Star Fox 64 players guide and just relive the beautiful text and info it has to offer lol. The Star Fox 64 players guide is one of the best players guide I have ever seen! Not only does it help with the game but all of the info it has on the Lylat system is fascinating

This episode was insanely good! Worth the wait, thats for sure. But I have two complains, first is the lenght of the fight. Most of it was exposition and while passion for both series is very clear, maybe theres too much passion for it. Then there is the sound design that just fell a bit off and exagerated, dont know if this is just me nitpicking or not. Overall, amazing analysis, enjoyable and simple conclusion, ASTONISHING MUSIC and pretty great fight, 9/10.

There was definitely some jank, but for the first full 3D episode outside of Minecraft, this was extremely well done. Very much looking forward to future 3D episodes, especially Link vs. Ridley.
This was a really "solid" battle that really "stole my heart"
I really liked the analysis sections. Detailed, and good summaries. If there's going to be story sections, I would suggest editing them down to about half of what this one was - the dialogue sections were a good idea, but way too long. Regarding the combat section, this one *was* very one sided, so I get it being short, but Death Battle provides some good examples of very one sided matchups which still give some moments where the weaker character gets to shine. But I'm still willing to give it a pass more than usual here because one of the characters hard neutralizes literally the entire kit of the other character, so it's not really a question.
I should add though that even with some hiccups in animation and pacing, it's really impressive to be creating something of this quality this soon on this budget. I'm impressed.

@@jackour8167 Joker still wins the fight, its just that Snake should at least do some damage against Joker and make the battle at least 3 minutes without the pointless dialogue scenes before Joker goes for the KO.
Sure it is a stomp in Joker's favor but at least make it enjoyable like look at Saitama vs Popeye on Death Battle as an example and Goku Black vs Reverse Flash (Death Battle and Rewind Rumble)

Rosalina probably gets nerfed harder than anyone by Smash Bracket's emphasis on "feats" (ie a character can only do X if the canon shows them doing X). Rosalina has a lot of implied awesomeness, but it's only implied & probably won't count.

Favorite Episode so far. I absolutely love Persona 5, so I might be a little biased, but I just loved the level of detail and work put into this. I also really enjoyed the animation.
Finally a episode of JOKER my fav riot charcuterie of all time so happy he won first round and Great animation thank you smash bracket for this
Edit: While rewatching the fight in 21:59 Snake looks at Jokers gun and noticed it’s fake (cause it a air soft that looks real) that’s why Joker threw the gun cause Snake figured it out
Plus at the end of the fight Snake actually lives for there is no blood but sparks

6:30 so why is this black hole feat represented for Joker but not other characters? Or was it just mentioned and not used for scaling? I'm just a little confused and need clarity cuz Fox for example has many black hole feats in game and in comic but vs Sonic weren't used cuz "they don't operate like a black hole?" But Joker uses cosmic flare and I assume that's gonna be used in future matchups
