1973 GMC Motorhome Episode 25 Final Drive Rebuild upgrade

I ordered the 3.70 ring and pinion set and final drive rebuild kit from
Applied GMC. There were ZERO videos on how to do this, now there is one!
I used the stock open carrier, and the procedure may be different for installing the popular limited slip. I do a lot of driving in the mountains and this mod is a must have! A review of the performance is to come...
You will notice that the unit is put back together using less overall shimming of the carrier. this is due to slightly fatter races then the ones that cam out.

Great video! thanks for uploading. I would love to know what the outcome was for the play in the output shaft flange that you notice at the beginning of the video? Is there a plain bearing that the output shaft runs in that was worn out in the side of the carrier or something? was this dealt with or deemed not a problem and left alone? thanks

Thanks for making this video. I have a 3.42 and recently noticed something sticking out of the weep hole. I tried to pull it out using needle nose pliers, but even though it is loose in the hole, it would not come out. I now know its the little "L" shaped piece of wire that is supposed to be in there!
