I am surprised people aren't doing an LS swap with these, using the 5.3 LS from the FWD cars and a 4L80 from the NorthStar Caddies. It would be a bit of work as the LS 5.3 never came with the 4T80, but I think the 4T60 they came with would be strong enough in a heavy RV. You'd then have a modern FI V8 and transverse 4 Speed. Better MPG and probably better performance. You would have to look into the 4T80 5.3 swap as you have to move the starter. The NorthStar had the starter in the valley, under the intake, where the 5.3 and 4T60 had the starter on the side of the block like a normal RWD V8.

I am not very mechanically inclined but the more i read and watch videos I keep realizing that these GMCs were some of the Best made motorhomes EVER Made. With the recent surge in every one wanting a motorhome I think that GMC could be a small fortune if they would bring this back with a few modern updates mechanically and interior wise would do very well.

Is there a helical limited slip differential for the th425? I know about the block and spring currently available, but would much prefer the torsen style.
I believe they created them for the Vector W8 which leads me to believe it's possible.

Has anyone replaced a 3 spd TH425 with a latter 4 spd TH325 in any older FWD motorhome or Toro/Eldorado?. Is it based on the TH200?
I'm curious but know little about them

This video shows what the transmission looks like. th-cam.com/video/ppkp2mX5zXY/w-d-xo.html You'd want the THM325-4L to get the 4 speed. They were made 1982 to 1985. GM front drive vehicles all went to transverse engines in 1986.
