    To feed the algorithm:
I find the uncensored version is more powerful. The implications of the censored death are more gruesome, but what gives the uncensored version more weight for me is that it's Tim intentionally killing Joker, and specifically with a gun. Beyond's opening drew such focus on a gun ultimately being the end of Batman, and finding out the role another gun had in breaking Tim gives Bruce's "Never Again" moment even more weight.

After this comic dropped, I got to thinking and it might actually subtly explain a change in Batman's temperment going into Justice League. As others have noticed, Bruce in TAS is a pretty well-rounded guy (all things considered), but then gets darker and/or delves deeper into the Batman persona in TNBA. However, he is noticeably quippier in JL and JLU, with Superman even commenting in the final episode that Bruce was "...getting soft in his old age." If you factor in the timeline of these Jason flashbacks, they would take place during "The Lost Years," whereas the Red Hood sections seem to be post TNBA. Thereby, Bruce's rougher approach to crimefighting in TNBA could be explained by the fact that, at this point, Bruce still presumes Jason to be dead, while by the time of Justice League all the present day portions of TAC would have happened meaning that Bruce would now know that Jason is really still alive somewhere, giving him closure. It may be a stretch, but like Amanda Waller, I'd like to think that these comics have also done some good. (#keepepilogueasecret)

So there was a so called lost years between TNBA and JL. I always thought TNBA happened after JL and JLU since in JL bruce seems to be more closer to his BTAS personality. Its good to know that Bruce soften up after TNBA and TAC but still his never ending mission with the cowl made him unable to live a better life. Also would love to have a series about Barbara after she left bruce because it could give us insight on how Batman's crusade affects gotham in this universe

I really don't like the way Jason is being portrayed in this story. The ripping off Tim Drake thing is bad enough, but i especially don't like how they're presenting him as this rotten bad seed who was apparently fucked up since day 1. Part of what made the Red Hood storyline work so well was that we saw a genuinely nice and sweet child become corrupted by a desire for vengeance against those who wronged him. Making Jason a piece of shit even when he was Robin takes away from that. (the live-action TITANS has the exact same issue)
and on top of that, to have ALFRED of all people be the one to disown Jason just feels extremely OOC. This whole story arc's just kinds been leaving a bad taste in my mouth

    Commenting for the algorithm!
I’ve always used “Timm Canon” to describe the DCAU and “Dini Canon” to describe the Krypto the Superdog/Duck Dodgers universe and I am set in my ways.
But seriously for me, Timm stuff is usually animated and Animation takes priority in the “DC Animated Universe” for me so color me Team Timm.
Also, I agree that Tim shooting the Joker is the more satisfying end because “that’s not funny.” It’s his canonical death for me.

About Batman apologizing : he *does* say "I'm sorry" to Mister Freeze in Heart of Ice, but that's more an expression of sympathy than a statement of regret. He says the same thing in the same manner to Karl Rossum in "His Silicon Soul."
He also says "I'm sorry" to Commissioner Gordon in the episode "I am the Night" when he assumes responsibility for Gordon being injured.

13:00 could be in reference to the Joker-Mobile from Batman #37 which was purple with Joker's face on the front.
Would also like I say I feel like DCAU Red Hood woulda worked better if it was set in the 2010s post-Return of the Joker and Jason Todd was an alias assumed by a disappeared Tim Drake while going all Punisher and these stories used a post-RotJ framing device of remembering these stories from the good ol' days, hence Tim losing faith in superheroes w. Slade or Azrael being Azrael having a purpose. Maybe even him trying to kill Harley for the same reasons as Under the Hood with Joker despite her trying to reform.

Honestly I think it would've been interesting if Jason came into the picture after what happened to Tim Drake. Maybe Jason takes on Tim Drake's original origin like how Tim took on Jason's post crisis origin and basically step up into the mantle of Robin when he noticed that Batman was a bit more unhinged after what happened to Tim, maybe using the Joker's death as a way to scare not only criminals but even normal people that support Batman. Jason would step in trying to help bring Batman onto the right path before crossing that line and maybe with Batman having no choice but to accept Jason this could lead to a fallout between him and Batgirl with not only her wanting more in their relationship but also allowing another child pick up the mantle of Robin after what happened to Tim Drake. Maybe with Jason coming in it could also explain why both Tim and Bruce just never really spoke after so many years in Batman Beyond. Just spit balling but either way it would have been nice to see a whole new story for Jason Todd even if it meant just having be the Tim Drake of the DCAU

I prefer the uncensored death. What's creepy about it is the psychological aspect. Joker's death being a stupid accident is its own form of poetic, but has none of the same weight as being shot by a tortured and brainwashed Tim barely fighting against his trauma. The Joker dying because he was so obsessed with breaking Batman that he didn't even _consider_ breaking Robin to be something dangerous for him is brilliant. He won and lost at the same time. In the end, it's the spark that leads to the events of him hanging up the Cowl, so he ultimately beat Batman by destroying his family. However, he lost by never breaking Batman. However, he won by breaking a Robin to the point of that child breaking Batman's rule. It's creepy because he drove a child to murder in his quest to break Batman, and it worked as the slow poison to stop Batman.

Personally, I'm kind of partial to the Edited Cut in that it makes the Joker's need of a "return" to feel all the more necessary, as the way he went out was so random and anti-climatic, something that we see Joker already feared in "Joker's Favor". As a standalone segment, though, the Uncut Version is a really definitive end for the Joker.

After reading the comic, at least Batman put in more effort than he did in the Arkham games when it came to finding Jason... which was like a month.
I’m hoping when it says “joker will turn to a familiar face” it literally means his own and they role the Batman who laughs into the book somehow. It’s kinda strange because while his posture resembles the Joker’s animation model, I don’t think it’s just the Joker dressed up as Batman because TBWL has these weird pointy teeth.

As a fellow DCAU fan since childhood, I so relate to you guys' frustration with and yet interest in this comic. The main thing that I feel is going to really irk me going forward is Comissioner Gordon referring to Tim as "the second Robin" in RoTJ, which I just don't know how can be reconciled. Nevertheless, I do appreciate Dini and Burnett adding some wrinkles here and there to make it different from the comics, at least, albeit somewhat similar to Arkham Knight in that it (will likely) leave Jason alive. Hoping the end will give us a good payoff and leave the continuity pretty much intact. Take a deep breath WTDB, we're in the home stretch!

Perhaps we ll get the explanation of Harleys last turn to evil before the events of rotj sometime (perhaps if they sell a batman beyond or jokerised tim action figure through this toy line?)
what about batman who laughs and vampire batman figures from the same line?

I think that the censored version is how he would want to go out (basically slipping on a banana peel), while the actual version with the gun is how he actually died. Like, if the joker had to tell someone how he died, he wouldn't say "I was shot by the brat," he would either make up a joke or say that the bat killed him, so him slipping and dying would be exactly what he would say.

Thanks for the video guys! Your videos on these comics do give me a lot to think about. I do have some things to point out to you and suggest for your timeline.
1 On the subject of this story still being quite faithful to Jason Todd's comic book and not taking the opportunity to change it a little bit more, I'm going to have to disagree with you on this. If they changed Jason's origin too much, it would have just ticked off the fans of his character. Plus, Paul Dini and Alan Burnett probably couldn't introduce too many changes since executive meddling likely dictated that they had to be faithful to their comic book origins.
2 I will point out at least a few other divergences that did happen in this story that wasn't present in Jason's original comic book story.
    A. One would be that Jason has an actual biological relative that did genuinely care for him. In the comics, all of Jason's other biological relatives were abusive and neglectful in some manner. While yes, Danny Todd, did make some pretty poor choices by getting involved with the Wolves gang, he was a kid living on the streets of perhaps the worst city to live in the DCAU (well one that isn't a war zone) who was the only person around to take care of his younger brother.
    B. Another divergence is Jason's inspiration for the Red Hood costume. In the comics, it was The Joker. Jason took the identity of the Red Hood in the comics to mock/own/scream to the the two people who made him what he is. The Red Hood is who the Joker was, and the Red Hood is who the Joker was until Batman "made" him into the Joker. Jason is wearing the mask of Batman's greatest mistake.
However, the DCAU version of the Joker was just an anonymous member of the mob and never took the identity of the Red Hood in this universe. In the DCAU, Jason's identity of the Red Hood means that after he escapes his near death experience, he chooses to honor the identity of his older brother who did everything he could to help him until the end. It's also Jason's way of indirectly saying Batman betrayed him and that in his eyes, he failed to meet up to the expectations of being a father and older brother figure. Heck, that's another divergence right there. The comic book version Bruce and Jason's relationship was father and son. In the DCAU, it seems to be a bit of a mix of part father and part brother.
    C. Yet another divergence is that Bruce saves Joker with the crowbar that was used to beat up Jason. I didn't think it was possible to hurt Jason Todd emotionally even more in a story like this, but Paul Dini and Alan Burnett proved me wrong. Imagine the person you trust the most saving the person who was going to kill you with the tool he was to perform the act of murder with. That new element has got to be one of the biggest gut punches and heartbreaking moments that any version of Jason Todd ever received. That level of emotional damage is up there with what the Arkhamverse version of Jason Todd received.
    D. Finally, this divergence is perhaps the biggest one that you guys haven't pointed out yet. In the comics, Bruce and Jason's relationship always had the legacy of Dick Grayson hanging over them. Heck, in the comics, after Jason's death, Dick confronts Bruce as to why he took in another kid as Robin after firing him from the Robin role. Bruce answers that one of the reasons he took in Jason was that he missed Dick.
This essentially means that Bruce essentially used Jason as a replacement for Dick. The writers really didn't seem to think of how horrible that makes Bruce look. It makes Bruce look like he favors Dick above all of the other kids he takes in. That shouldn't be the case. If Bruce takes in any other kids, it should be solely because he wants to help them and not replace a relationship he doesn't currently have. That's something that really goes against Batman's compassionate nature which is a topic you made a whole video on.
In the DCAU, Dick Grayson is a complete non-factor in Bruce and Jason's relationship. Bruce took Jason in since he had no one else to take him in after Danny died, and to give him a better life. However, it broke down due to Jason's violent nature, Bruce's denial over the extent of Jason's issues, and Jason overhearing Bruce's lack of faith in him. I much prefer this version over the post-Crisis relationship between Bruce and Jason. At least you can say that Bruce didn't use Jason as a replacement for Dick.
Here the flaw in Bruce's relationships with the Robins is that he projects too much of himself into them. He thinks that giving them training, putting them in costumes, and taking them out into crime fighting to take out their anger will help them get better. That can play a part, but they need more than an outlet for their anger. They need a good caring parental figure who can also express that care outwardly. Bruce has problems with overt and outward shows of care. He's compassionate but he has strange ways of showing it which certainly rubs others the wrong way leading to eventual relationship breakdowns.
3 Onto the timeline issues. I do have some suggestions to help you in coming up with a solution to this issue. You're probably not gonna like it though.
    A. First of all, to save yourself the headaches, just throw out all previous DCAU tie-in material. It's pretty obvious by this point that, people like Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, and Alan Burnett don't consider any of the previous tie-in material canon and will steam roll it however they seem fit. This behavior isn't unusual since in the heyday of the DCAU, they steamrolled entire issues and at times entire comic book runs and were quite clear with their attitudes towards tie-in material in interviews. They really only count the material they were involved in writing as canon. They may have taken inspiration from tie-in material at times and would incorporate some elements from into the shows, but the animated shows take priority over them. Also, if the writers were involved tie-in material, there's always the possibility that future material they were involved in will overwrite it later. Roxy Rocket was originally from BTAS tie-in material, but her animated debut overwrote her tie-in comic run. Also, this comic run overwrites Nora's fate in the Gotham Girls web series. The only way I can see this series being overwritten is if it gets an animated adaptation.
    B. In order to make sense of the timeline, some condensing is going to have to occur. Here's what I propose, the events of BTAS (all 85 episodes) Mask of the Phantasm, Subzero, the Old Wounds Flashback sequences and the TNBA episode Torch Song (this event happening after Dick Grayson leaves the Robin role) all occur from 1992-1994. Bruce also finds Jason Todd in 1994 and the flashback sequences in BTAC occur from 1994-1995 culminating in Jason's "death" and Batman's search for the supposed dead Robin.
In 1997, the episode "Sins of the Father" happens and Bruce takes in Tim Drake as his ward and he becomes the third Robin. That's also the year the events of TNBA occur. However, episodes that do not feature or mention either Dick Grayson as Nightwing or Tim Drake as Robin may be pushed to have happened much earlier into the timeline than initially believed. In this comic, Tim mentions that he's been Robin for about a year so that would put the events of the BTAC comic series in 1998 or at least when the events of that comic series starting. Hopefully, that helps the timeline.

Think about it if Batman kills the joker then it would be like when he killed joker in the Batman who laughs comic and the Batman who laughs is apart of the toy line sooooooooo what if Batman kills joker and becomes the Batman who laughs.
