Pennsylvania Turnpike - Allegheny Mountain Tunnel - October 3, 2023

We were driving eastbound on the turnpike. It was a beautiful sunny day. We got on at Butler and heading toward Breezewood. I like tunnels.

Just went through this tunnel when it was raining the other day and had a major panic attack once inside with the 18 wheelers driving so close to me. I was sleep deprived and it took a terrible effect on my ability to react. I felt like i was losing all control of my extremities. Worse feeling ever.

I remember going through this one with my parents when I was a little kid and I told my dad to honk the horn, and he would.

I'm the same...when I was a kid back in the 50's and 60's, our family would drive to Wildwood Crest, NJ some summers for a week vacation. My brothers and I loved the tunnels. There were more tunnels back then. I don't think this one has changed a bit. Hope you have a wonderful and Blessed New Year.

There are plans to bypass these tunnels and I guess the Turnpike is not putting any money into them, hence why it looks so bad.

I wonder if they'll ever get the bypass done. I hadn't really thought about it until you mentioned it. It does really look bad and in need of maintenance. Hope you have a blessed holiday season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
