    I like the video, a ton of great stuff, but your assessment on brakes....
    Let me be painfully clear. All of these bikes have enough braking power to stop a small passenger car. Brake quality is defined by power vs duration, they all have the power to lock the wheel up 10 times over, the question becomes brake feel and quality of the abs controller an tech.
    If the MT-10 stops faster than the other 3(it in fact does) its only because it weighs the least.

    May I suggest a new test. How about the Honda CB1000 R [as tested here], Yam MT10 [base model], Kawasaki Z1000 [R edition], Suzuki Katana and the Triumph Speed Triple R [not the more expensive RS]. These are all much closer to each other in price.

    Thanks mate, i Bought a brand new 2019 CB1000-R from Wisconsin 7 months ago. To me Honda is a Name to Bragg about even if it was on an unfinished piece of metal 😃 Price was not an issue to me when considering the other 3 motorcycle brands, but Honda got a balanced, reliable engine. I brought a lot of quality condiments for it like: Castrol actevo 10W30 engine oil for first oil change (after 600 miles), Motul 7100 4T 10W40 Oil, a box of Engine ice Coolant, K&N oil Filters & Motul RBF600 brake liquid 😎

    Off topic slightly, but I test rode the Ducati and the Speed Triple, looked at the Honda and the MT10 and ended up buying the KTM 790 Duke. Gives me enough power to get into and out of any trouble I want, lighter, cheaper, so many extras as standard and is an absolute hoot to ride. I'd rather ride a slower bike fast than a faster bike slow. And with so many bloody camera's everywhere these days the 790 did it for me. Great review though, like your style!

    You are a pleassure to listen to, it seems you know what you are talking about, you cover all the basics (and a little more) very good. You actually helped me choose my current bike (speed triple rs, which i obviously think is the best) Keep up the good work! Btw. I think all the bikes over there are extremely cheap! In Denmark I handed over 225.000 dkr (26.662 gbp) for the Speedy. But then I also got tpms, heated grips, shift assist and crash protection... 😂

    Great work once again ! I totally agree with your comparison (tested the 4 too)
    +my 2 cents :
    - in terms of comfort (position 60% / saddle 40%) i would personnally play in order 1) MT10 SP 2) Speed Triple 3) CB1000R 4) Ducati Monster.
    - in terms of daily fuel budget and autonomy, i would say (best to worse) : 1) Speed Triple 2) CB1000R 3) Ducati Monster 4) MT10 SP
    - in terms of aftermarket value after few years i'd say (best to worse) : 1) Speed T. 2) Monster 3) CB1000R 4) MT10 SP
    - in terms of Trackdays ability (best to worse) : 1) MT10 SP 2) Monster (R) 3) Speed T. 4) CB1000R
    I don't know about the UK/US market but in Belgium/France, the number of MT10 (SP or not) on sale at low price is amazing so the price goes lower and lower. It seems peeps don't like the very noisy engine and all his noises at cold/warm that don't give much confidence on long term basis (even if some have already 40k+ Miles and even if it's a mistake, all CBR 954 RR have very noisy engine and they are nearly indestructible). Let's be honest, that crossplane feature is great but many lambda & confirmed riders i know who tested the bike think it's a very dangerous bike and that it doesn't forgive mistakes as the other bikes would (I personnally found the MT 10 SP more dangerous than the KTM 1290 SD R, mainly because of its ride-by-Wire+crossplane instant response).
    The aftermarket value of the Speedies are always very high BUT these very fragile matt paintings (black RS) might change the rules at short term and i predict Ducati's to keep more value on long term.
    (PS: Still want to buy A Speed RS in few months and still waiting like a kid with his christmas gifts the 25th anniversary SE announcement !)

      I agree with you in most of your standpoints. For me, the MT-10 seems very unattractive (looks wise) compared to the others, and in particular the triumph and ducati which to me seems much more luxurious and well sorted. I just have one correction for you. :-) in the latest issue of Performance Bikes Magazine, the Speed Triple RS is timed around Donington Park. In earlier issues the MT10 Sp and the Monster 1200s was also timed. They were all tested on the same tires (Metzeler Racetec RR), and the lap times was as follows: Speedy: 1:39.51 MT10 Sp: 1:41.51 Monster 1200s: 1:42.02. That is a huge gap in the Speed Triples favour, which is actually faster around Donington than the KTM Super Duke R.
      From the test: "After Johnny datalogged the Speed RS against the Yamaha MT-10 SP in Almeria, and trounced it, we werent surprised that it did the same at Donington. The fact that the Speed RS has slotted in the leaderboard in front of the KTM Super Duke R was a surprise. The KTM has significantly more power, and electronics much more suited to track riding. The Triumph's superior ground clearance and usability proving to be its ace card."
      I can e-mail you the test if you like.

Well considered it's not very surprising seen the Speed is the only one who can allow the best power delivery seen that, with others, it's always too much. Thanks man. I agree with you for the most part definitely. You can get some good deals on the MT10 and it is a great bike but I hear what your saying about the risk. I think I would probably ride a little recklessly on the MT10 which ups the risk factor. I think the speed triple would be the past track bike though personally. And aside everything else I would happily go for the Triumph the same as you. Looking forward to the anniversary edition.

    Don't forget the Honda's Plus version has a quick shifter and heated grips. Not just phoof body work bits. As a former '16 Tuono Factory owner I would like to comment. Who would purchase each one of these bikes? Why purchase a Honda if KTM, Aprilia, Yamaha, BMW make better bikes? The Honda's are selling... Is it price? No because these bikes are about passion more than practical use. So why then? I'll answer from my perspective. After niggles with my Ape I sold it. The warranty was up and I felt it was like dating a hot crazy woman. Time to settle down and find something a bit more long term. Like the hot woman it was plastic fantastic and hot as hell to live with. Fun yes but lifetime... No. So something more long term and easier to live with. Oh now the Honda edges up the ranks. Let's talk subjective and mention looks. What looks good to a rider. Motorcycles have become caricatures. Johnny 5, Alien, Bug, Muscle-head... Where is the Honda in this? It kind of looks like a boring yet clean motorcycle. Back to the sexist woman analogy, This could be the marrying kind. Attractive yet not trying to kill you. You are starting to understand where I am headed. Yes, I purchased a Honda. I confess I have a harem of motorcycles. A touring, dirt, super moto, and Panigale. This bike suits me like a Tuxedo of motorcycles. Simple, clean, elegant, not showy, yet it can do the business if called upon. Ducati makes a muscle bike, Yamaha's alien robot, KTM's Mantis, Aprilia's Racer Boy... I just wanted a motorcycle that works and looks like a motorcycle. I guess I'm riding on the street and not looking for performance as the top reason to purchase. It was livability and looks. Riding in a vacuum you only doubt your purchase when you read or watch reviews. I say purchase what you want. Life is short and they make so many motorcycles. I do wish I could ride them all.

      @@RarefiedRoad My favourite too. Looking at other tests the Triumph generally seems to come out on top. Performance bikes track tested the MT10 SP against the new Triumph Speedie and the Trumpet trounced it by some 2 seconds or so. Doesn't sound a lot but by track testing terms that's a big gap. 44 teeth loved and raved over the Triumphs handling and power delivery big time. If I had the money it would be the Triumph, no question. Oh and it's beautifully finished too.

    I've watched a number of your reviews now and quite enjoy them. Your analysis is very clear. Here, I only wish you'd added your sense of the bike's overall personalities. I understand your reluctance to pick a winner in a field of great machines, but bikes aren't just the sum of their parts (engine, brakes, suspension assessed individually). For example, the Honda here doesn't rank among the "supernakeds" and clearly isn't going to win at the track, but is the only argument for it price (perhaps so, but I'd like to find out)? Stats I can get from a spec sheet. Respectfully, I watch reviews to hear how they feel (then perhaps I test for myself). Thanks!

It was really just a summary of all the 'Big' bikes that I've managed to test on the channel but there are many different reasons for picking a bike and it's hard to cover all of them in 10 minutes or so. I own a 2019 cb1000r and a 2019 mt10. The mt10 is better in every aspect in regards to performance ! No chance the cb1000r can beat the mt10 in a quarter mile! The honda has underwhelming,disappointing low end power /torque, my biggest gripe with the cb1000r is how the abs kicks in too damn early, i would say it kicks in prematurely! It is the only bike i always need to use the rear brake ( other owners i know have had to start doing the same with the rear brakes). The cb1000r is a looker, not a performer.

    You're wrong, not listing dry weight is hiding something. It's the best measure of weight.

    • @RarefiedRoad
      @RarefiedRoad  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Respectfully disagree, it's not a real world measurement since you'd never be riding the bike without fluids wet weight makes more sense to me and most manufacturers list them wet, it's mainly KTM and triumph that opt for dry weight which means it's very difficult to judge them against the rest of the field. But in all honesty it wouldn't matter to me which they choose as long as they are all using the same metric.

    • @SigmaJAD
      @SigmaJAD 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rarefied Road the wet weight can only be comparable if equal amounts of fluids are applied to each vehicle. Take another variable, the weight of the rider. That will also affect the physics/handling of the bike. Dry weight is what we engineer.
