I changed the hearing on my 1198S and it made a huge difference. Along with setting up the suspension and then also coming to terms with its sheer amount of torque. Truly a beast to be admired and respected.
With the F4, R=Rain, N=street, S=Sport, you need to get to grips with the custom settings where you can adjust the engine braking etc. I agree its not user friendly to adjust things, and I did once click on the speed limiter and could not turn it off, so had to stop and power cycle! ABS has on, Race and Off. To make the most of it you really need ECU Studio so you can really control the fuel cut etc, and also enable the QS and blipper, which when you have it sorted (with the F3 sensor not the F4's), it makes it so much better to ride. Still a bike you need to bend too, but ends up being so much fun. The F4 also has a full IMU. I would not recommend you to buy an F4 if you want the ultimate track or road machine, there are better bikes. If however you are smitten with the looks, want something rare (I've never passed another F4 on the road, let alone a white one ) and you are willing to live with the imperfections, as a trade off, then its so much joy to be had. Its the only bike I've ever owned, that a, i will not sell, and b, makes me smile every time I take the cover off, let alone ride. The other thing with the F4, there are far less places that make parts, race, go faster or pretty stuff, than for most makes, so you have to factor that in too, but then again, you don't have the issue of parking next to an identical bike at the Cafe.
Think you guys have stumbled on the reason no one buys sportsbikes now, it’s because in 2012 they pretty much peaked…. I’m not saying they are better than now, they aren’t, but they did everything so well and there was an option out there for everyone. I’ve got a 2015 R1, it’s awesome, would I change it for anything newer, nope, would I change it for a 1198s or f4 r, yep… tomorrow
That's exactly what I just did except it's the 1098s w full termi's, slipper clutch, race ecu and rear sets. I'm probably a glutton for punishment though for sure.
I used to read your magazine and to be honest I didn't know you were still around. The last few test videos that I've seen of you boys have been excellent though so keep this going!
Much like the currently unattached women in my locality, finding a sports bike that hasn't been screwed by multiple jockeys is very difficult. I actually once met a chap who was the owner from brand new of a Kawasaki ZX10R SE who, after doing a small cosmetic job on my car, proudly showed me his stone cold bike in the shed, turned on the ignition and all but red lined it ! One careful owner, FSH, rarely used in the wet. We've all seen those kind of adverts. Sometimes, even one lady owner from new. Yeah, Doris Agostini !
Great test but, would have preferred Aprilia RSV4 instead of mv. Mv is a thing of beauty but, Aprilia more mainstream and also cutting edge at the time for tech. Also the noise!
I have a 2015 s1000rr sport. Cannot see me changing it for anything newer as it's a machine way better than me. I'm actually looking at a 3rd bike, old school srad 750 ,😊
I've had a couple of Duks and yeah you have to wrestle the thing to make it turn but once in corner is stable and the feedback is fantastic it just a bit of a chor to ride.
How about stick an ECU flash on all the bikes, a proper service refresh with time to adjust the suspension then tell me which bike you would have? I bet it sorts out both the BM and the MV into much faster user friendly bike. - Then would you spend 14k on one ? or 15k on a current model 2021 zx10r, or 1299 Panigale or a new version 2021 BMW s1k sport with carbon wheels? Because thats the reality on weather you would buy one
So what were the prices on these bikes? With the ducati 848/1098/1198 bikes, you need to really drop the front and push up the rear. I believe this 1198s came with the ride height adjuster installed from factory, so it's a matter of a few minutes and 2-5mm I suppose. And, of course, go for a shorter final drive. Though I do feel the shorter final drive might take away a bit from the predictable nature of the throttle feel and make it TOO touchy. But it's a cable throttle, yes? So one can always get one of those motion Pro progressive throttles in that case
Apart from the Ducati which is the oldest of the 3, the other two especially the BMW are extremely valid bikes that have nothing to envy to current bikes. They are bikes you enjoy on the track with because they have everything you need to do it. No one is so professional ( clearly if you are an SBK or TT rider ) as to take them to the limit, they are bikes that satisfy anyone who wants to racetrack days.
Thanks for a really interesting watch chaps. You failed to mention in your praises of the BMW that it owes so much to Suzuki's K5. Sadly Suzuki tend to get forgotten in so many of these tests.
Guys, HERE is The Savior HalleluYAH translates “Praise ye YaH” YaH is The Heavenly Father YaH arrives via the TENT OF MEETING YaH was Who they Crucified for our sins ** NO FEMALE INVOLVED WHATSOEVER ** - Hebrew Book of Isaiah Isaiah 42:8 "I am YaH; that is my Name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols. Isaiah 43:11 I, I am YAH, and there is no other Savior but Me. Isaiah 45:5 I am YaH, and there is none else.
A sports bike test, featuring used bikes to a set budget… if only there was a cool name you could come up with. Battle of the budget bikes? No. Budget bikes doing battle? Naah. 🤔 it will come to me…
Suspension was only electrically adjustable for preload and rebound on 1199S, not semi active as on BMW and 1299S that followed as I have owned this bike unlike you. lmao
Picked the wrong F4 model, imo. Not too sure about the Ducati, either. For 99% of us the bog standard BMW S1000RR is more than enough, and way cheaper.
Nearly half the video on the MV the least relevant road bike…why? No rsv4? The Ducati aside I would have welcomed other bikes like the Aprilia and maybe the gasxr, blade and zx10.
Keep the apliances, this is about special bikes mate, not your run of the mill ricer bike, you clearly didn't understand the intent of this beautiful video.
I know it’s in the name of the video (Michelin, and I have pilot power 2 CTs on my bike currently), but it seems like a Michelin commercial with all the stickers on the bike. Makes you doubt the legitimacy of the video.
Clearly the video has been sponsored by Michelin, who do not build bikes and have no affiliation to any of the manufacturers - why would you doubt the legitimacy of the test based on that? I would only doubt the legitimacy if they were comparing tyres, which they aren’t. Nearly all 44Teeth videos are sponsored by Bridgestone 🤷🏼♂️
What's the problem? Michelin provided the tires, and they aren't comparing these tires to any other tyres and saying "michelins are better". This is a bike comparison not a tire comparison. And thank you Michelin for providing these tires so that all 3 bikes are on equal footing.
Such a fun test thank you gents! Would love to see this with bikes under $10k !

Excellent choice of bikes and strong, clear assessment of their strengths and weaknesses. Thanks boys. More please.

I've got a panigale v4s on the way but I am planning on buying 2010 to 2014 r1 as I think they are dead gorgeous and future classic
Excellent idea and loved the video! Would love to see one with superbikes from the 2000s under $10k i.e 1000RRs, ZX10Rs, GSXRs, R1s, 1098s etc
I used to read your magazine and to be honest I didn't know you were still around. The last few test videos that I've seen of you boys have been excellent though so keep this going!

Well done chaps, that was great ! The 1198 was the last Ducati I really liked ❤

Great vid! Think it about sums up why I went for a 1198s as my second bike to use on track
that 1198 corse is magical
2006 GSXR1000.
World's fastest 0-60 to this day for a motorcycle. Multiple championships under its belt.
Enjoyed this, great job lads
When the intro is a ringtone.👍
Great video! Do more used bikes comparisons
I've had a couple of Duks and yeah you have to wrestle the thing to make it turn but once in corner is stable and the feedback is fantastic it just a bit of a chor to ride.
Awesome video. Loved the concept
This was one fun video. Good job.🙌👍
Awesome footage.
loved this video, thanks!
Something lovely and raw about these bikes, especially the hp4 (not race). Wonder what an 1199 would have been like...

Awesome review!
Nice test, can you do a used superbike test with a lower price (
1098r was the one 👌
Next year: 2010 RSV4 Factory, KTM RC8R, 1199 Panigale S.
This is perfect
Nice vid but no knowledge about the Mv. Modes. I had one and R is Rain mode, S is Sport mode en N is Normal mode.

Great video… do a follow-on video, move on 5 or 10 years 👍
What about the r1 and r1m?
Suzuki 1000 gsxr k5 with a refurb of suspension brakes pipe and dyno. Under £10k.
Great video fellas. The 1198 corse is sex on wheels.
Why the 1198s and not the sp?
Ducati/ BMW / MV for me person 🙂
Yep… R means Rain, S means sport for the road and C means Corsa or Race… confusing, at least you were safe in R on the track 😂

I will never sell my 1198S Corse...they're made of unicorns. The last of them. Nothing compares to it.
Hp4 is so mint
I would buy the three bikes today for the price of an M1000rr
They say BMW bought 4 Suzuki GSXRs and the rest is history 🤷♂️
Unless you're a keen biker you'd be hard pressed to know these bikes are around a decade old!
A sports bike test, featuring used bikes to a set budget… if only there was a cool name you could come up with. Battle of the budget bikes? No. Budget bikes doing battle? Naah. 🤔 it will come to me…
Bikes have been amazing for the past 15 yrs. It's like the iphones. Dont see the point for a new one
Great vid guys, I don’t know what it is but I’m know I need to own an F4 RR, So god dam
Sexy. 🤪
The Ducati Panigale 1199 S was the first production bike to have electronic suspension… not the bmw lmao look it up it is a fact!
Suspension was only electrically adjustable for preload and rebound on 1199S, not semi active as on BMW and 1299S that followed as I have owned this bike unlike you. lmao

easy bmw win
