No GSXR and no Ninja? Those two were always the flagship models in the 600 range, and a 600 supersport shootout should always contained all four of the Japanese manufacturers. And the manufacturers did not give up on them, Europe did; you can still buy them all new outside Euro 5 countries.
I still love 600 super sports and have kept my old 2009 ZX6R. Still puts a huge smile on my face! No depreciation and cheap tax means it doesn’t cost much to keep in the garage either 👍
@OrangeCarl passed my direct access at the age of 25 in 2006 and jumpped straight on a kitted out 2005 zx636r. First ever motorcycle, I didn't want a scooter prior to this bike. lol
Gutted manufacturers don’t make bikes like this anymore. These were top of the range and exciting when I was getting into bikes at 16, younger riders these days only have happy shopper parallel twins to look forward too, and that’s a shame. No wonder the demographic is getting older. Long live sports bikes, il be riding my 08 fireblade for years yet 🤘
Triumph ftw 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻, also concur on the tyres 6819 miles last year on a set with 10 track days being more than comfortable in inters zero issues 👌🏻, street triple rs
I think manufacturers deleting the 600 supersport class is going to be one of the dumbest decisions in motorcycle history. This idea of going from 250,300,400,600, 700 parallel twins to a 1000cc supersport is stupid.
The manufacturers are focussing on what the market wants and that is naked bikes (ignoring the adventure bike market for a moment). In the naked sports bike market there is tonnes of choice - i4s, triples, v2s, v4s, parallel twins etc etc. I could happily go from my V4 Tuono to a 1000cc supersport, however I don't really want to as a hyper naked is just a better road bike (and the road is where I'm riding 99% of the time). I probably will get a 1000cc supersport at some point but it will be a second bike and not my daily ride. The manufacturers are there to make money so they are going to focus their R&D budget on developing bikes that are going to sell - they aren't going to regret making a sound business decision. In my opinion 1000cc sports bikes are better road bikes than 600cc supersports anyway as at least they have some midrange torque.
@@richardkillian5657 i agree to some degree. I think theres a clear and substantial 600cc super sport market. I agree "streetable" bikes have a huge mkt too.. i myself own a ZX6R, Kaw Vulcan voyager 1700.. And just bought am Aprilia RST1000 Futura...which by far love over any super street ive owned. I think the Aprilia RS660 by far is my fav "new era" 600cc bike. I seriously Aprilia and Suzuki should bring back their L and V twins over parallels. I think L and V twins by far offer more over parallels..just my opinion.
Had a Daytona 675R for a few years - a truly special bike with a really characterful engine and exceptional poise, noise and handling. Sadly, you’ve also hit the nail on the head why the 600’s have died out - they’re hard work during ‘normal’ road riding conditions, they’re uncomfortable for more than 20 minutes and you have to thrash them to wake them up, which puts you at risk on the public highway. 5% of the time you won’t want to be on anything else, the other 95% of the time the lack of compromise just isn’t worth it. My 675R was replaced by an 1199, just a special but actually far easier to ride around on generally with the bottom end and midrange.
I never had a 600 coz I'm too big at 16 stone when i passed my test. I went 125, 125, 125, 125, then 750. Admittedly only a gentle GSX750 F but I did top end on the way home from On yer Bike Aylesbury and scratched both footpegs through Tooting. Aah fond memories of middleweight bikes
Great test lads really enjoyed it 👏🏻. Ive actually just gone back to a 600 supersport after 3 years on a couple 1000cc Superbikes. I for one don’t understand why the supersport has died there great bikes for the road imo getting them screaming 😱 their bits off banging them up/down through the gears such great fun. More stuff like this would be awesome lads well done 👍🏻
@@deanodrives4966 such a shame as they really great fun especially that Daytona 675R had a 2013 years ago wicked bike👌🏻 would actually show up some of the litre boys with a decent rider
Had a zzr600 back in the day then more recently a zx6r and 675R - best of the lot ! Shame they don’t make the 600 class anymore surely the market is there ?
Those road 6's are really good for supersports on the street. You really don't need to put more aggressive tyres on for the road. Love them on my ZX10R. They do everything so well. You can ride like a madman on them aswell so much so that tyres with "more" grip are basically a waste of time and to be honest that's not even how I ride 95% of the time and that's why they are so good, because when you are just cruising you know you aren't wasting away grippy tyres and they will last you alot longer than proper "hypersport" tyres and if the need to increase pace ever comes you are not limited in any way. 10/10 from me.
Came to comments looking for this, i dont know how 75 more cc can be explained as fair. Should've had the Kawasaki 636 than. 600cc 3 cylinder would likely be too slow compared to inline 4 which is why they needed the cc's
It's a pity that 600s aren't a thing any more. I guess they just weren't selling. I've certainly noticed that men feel emasculated by the thought of any sports bike smaller than 1l. Childish, really.

Where are the mighty 600cc GSX-R's ? Plenty of them in used market 2007-2008 mostly. Favorite bike of the trackdays folks.
I agree. I have a older k2 600 and other than being a bit bulkier than these bikes, it still shreds
How on earth did the zx6r (636)/gsx-r 600 go walk abouts... then?
Same here. The 636 is by far the best bike in this segment. The Triumph is nice but more expensive and much smaller aftermarket.
@OrangeCarl I loved mine too, and I bought it because it was the best around supersport Street bike back then.

GSXR ❤️ Had 5 over the years absolutely fantastic machines simple fast fun never had a single problem in 20 years on them 👍
Do this again. This was great.
These used bike shootouts are absolutely brilliant. I’ve subscribed- please keep these coming!
Pity you didn't have a Ninja in there..Plenty of 636 out there...Maybe next time hey.

No ninja or gixxer 600? Wow. I’m slightly surprised
I know a gear indicator is important to some and an aftermarket one is easy to fit - but spend 22k on a Panigale V4 and doesn’t get you a fuel gauge!
What no 636? Omg

I bought an FZ6 Fazer as i'm in my mid 50's it's a very underestimated bike with the R6 engine in it
O cmon wheres the GSXR!!
I wish I kept my 09 r6
That was a vintage year, and the '09 13S whooped both the Honda and the Triumph.
Love my daytona 675R mine has all the optional extras on it jist makes it that little bit nicer to ride with adjustable rear sets etc

Yes, more 675 content please!
There should be an 848 amongst this

Daytona 675 all day long… special, unique, classy, independent…
Super solid review specially the daytona. Sad that they dont sell that anymore and that even used once we dont have it here in ph.
Correction to what they said. Every bike needs ABS.
wish I could convert my 765 to a daytona
Always seems a little unfair 675cc and 3 cylinders

Stopped watching as soon as I saw there was no ZX6R (C1H 636) ridiculous leaving that out of the test, especially for a road test.......
You say you can’t buy a new 600 which isn’t true you can buy a 636
Wow talk about killing off the 600 class even more 😮😅
No ZX6R? No GSXR? Eh?
zx6r 636 say hello
its stupid to count the 675r as a 600cc and saying there is no 600cc selling new, THERE IS the zx6r 636 still selling new as 2023
so do count the 675r as 600cc and only focus on the pure 600 like the r6 OR add all the 6xx motorcycles
so of course the 675r win versus those two old shit , put it vs a brand new zx6r
It's a pity that 600s aren't a thing any more. I guess they just weren't selling. I've certainly noticed that men feel emasculated by the thought of any sports bike smaller than 1l. Childish, really.
wrong! u can buy zx6r and u put michelin road 6 :D a touring tyre on a supersport ...
