  • Comments from Michael Stipe and Eddie Vedder about a week after Kurt's death. Next both Henry Rollins and Phil Anselmo / Vinnie Paul from Pantera surprise us with some very insightful words about Kurt. This upload was very popular on a different channel but it was taken down for several reasons. I plan on keeping it here as long as they let me Please feel free to comment and share so as many fans as possible get to see it.

    Fuckin' awesome of Phil Anselmo to stand up for Kurt this way. He and Henry were always the real deal, and they showed compassion when so many other musicians like Ted Nugent tried to act like tough guys and insult a dead singer. How is it a genre with ONE band? I always considered them a thrash metal band with an actual unique style. Or better yet, just a badass METAL band that didn't limit themselves to a genre.
      Then you have someone like Metallica who is thought of as a thrash metal band, yet hasn't played thrash metal since the 1980's. They've been NOT thrash much longer than they were thrash.

      It was a mixed bag up until 1995. You had Nirvana, GnR, Metallica, REM, Pearl Jam, AiC, Soundgarden, NWA, Tupac, Public Enemy, Jane's Addiction, Pantera, etc. on one hand but Mariah Carey, Michael Bolton, poodle hair bands, Vanilla Ice, Ace of Base, etc. on the other. But I'd say overall MTV was decent up until the end of grunge, at which point 75% of the channel wasn't even music-based in the first place.

    Why is everyone assuming it to be a suicide. Many sources say that he had 3 times the lethal dose of heroin for a junkie, and couldn't have been functional enough to pull the trigger, the empty shell where it was found also made it virtually impossible at the angle he would have had to pull the trigger, also he was going through a divorce and wanted to leave Courtney and she stood to have a lot to gain by this and was a junkie as well. Her own dad thinks she had somebody else do it. Courtney's hired private investigator also thinks so. A lot of suspensions

    But then a few months later Pantera had a #1 record with Far Beyond Driven and then they were cast into the spotlight. Phil wasn't ready for that though and he too soon turned to heroin as an escape from the publicity they were getting.

    • @mysteryman6503
      @mysteryman6503 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      SlasherGuy 82 Phil turned to heroin to cope with the pain of a severe back injury, not because of the pressure of fame.

      SLASHERGUY 82 Phil get into drugs not because of fame pressure but because for back pain problems he had. ;)

    • @realitybites629
      @realitybites629 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Agent-nw3me that was what kurt claimed too, he said he was battling chronic stomach pain thats why he used heroin.
      If you believed phil anselmo, you mighr as welll believe kurt.
      Phil shunned away from pantera to ease the pressure, that sort of disbanded pantera. Kurt was on his way to doing what phil did before he killled himself. He wanted to take a break, the difference is kurt had a junkie wife and a bestfriend/bandmate who forced him to have an intervention and undergo a rehab which is the worst thing you can do to a depressed junkie.. It just added a ton of pressure to kurt. They should have just let kurt battle his demons and ease the pressure by just letting him do what he wants,..
