    Great video. Love your practical, not “preachy” approach.

    I need to keep hearing this message. It is a no nonsense approach that I am trying to achieve. I still haven’t gotten there, so reminders like this help me refresh my goal.

    1:43 - 1:57 I do that too! I've already started down the path to a more minimal life (I still have a long way to go), but this is inspiring me to pare down my wardrobe even more. I'm glad a Vested Interests video showed up in my recommendations.

    Your content has been incredibly inspiring. I have been trying to minimize my wardrobe and was doing so seasonally and I attempted the capsule wardrobe, but I still felt like I had so much stuff. I just recently paired my wardrobe down from 127 items to 57 items including outerwear, activewear, pajamas, and bathing suits. I even created a cohesive wardrobe by accident! All of my items are neutrals with a few blue items thrown in there, and they're even all the same shade of blue! I have a couple of items I want to swap out because they're not my favorites and they aren't cohesive but they'll do for now. Thanks again for all the inspiration and sensible tips :)

    Those are all really good points, and after listening to you talk about ease of choosing outfits and having a cohesive wardrobe, I think I will once again try separating my daywear out from my costumes & outdoor clothing, rather than keeping it all together, so that my closet will be less dense & more unified. You look really great in this video, BTW!

    I am trying to downsize and my wardrobe it's seriously large but I will take some of your tips and perhaps I'll keep a hundred

    • @VestedInterests
      @VestedInterests  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you have a huge wardrobe, getting down to a hundred would be a great step forward! In my first video, I had 120ish items, but, before that, I had so many clothes I didn't keep track. I wish I had, so you might want to take a count before you start, just so you can eventually look back and see how far you've come. Meet that first goal of 100 and then live with those 100 items for a few months. After a little time goes by, it will be so easy to decide what to get rid of next. Best of luck! If you make a video about it, let me know. It sounds really exciting!

      I keep trying. I have a serious problem. I have 8 bins of clothes that are my ‘favorites’ that I’ve gotten over the years that I haven’t been able to part with. I have a scarcity mindset. If I have a favorite sweater or tee or jeans, then I get multiples just in case I won’t be able to purchase it again. And I find myself not wearing my favorites to keep them from wearing out. It’s crazy. One in, one out seems to be helping to not bring in more. Hearing this type of video seems to help me get in that frame of mind.

      @@VestedInterests ah now this is what I wanted to know. COMPLETELY RELATE! I’m still north of 100 probably but using a lot more of my “precious” items now and my motto is becoming “use it or lose it”!

    This is a very good video, I have been toying with an idea a 50 (or less) -item wardrobe for a while too, I started by doing math and counting how many of each category do I need (always thinking about the stuff I already have) so that I can build the most number of outfits with them :D I really liked this video, and on the side note that minimal decor in the background..

      Nice! If you aren't already using something similar, I really like the app Stylebook (www.stylebookapp.com/) It lets you take pictures of everything you own and create outfit collages. It even has a calendar so you can add outfits to each day of the month, and then it gives you analytics to show you what items you wear the most. I have the app, but I don't use much of it's functionality yet, but it might be perfect for what you're doing. Good luck!

    I’m currently building a basic wardrobe, I wear uniforms and pjs lol , so when I go out somewhere I really don’t know what to wear,?! Im aiming for 28 items not including uniforms and sleepwear, then I want to have 5 key pieces to add to the basic wardrobe per season and try the project 333... 33 items for 3 months, the remove the 5 winter items and add 5 spring items ect. I don’t feel the need to add anything to my already 15 basic pieces, so I’ll go with that for now

    • @VestedInterests
      @VestedInterests  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sounds excellent! If you're struggling to figure out what to wear to go out, you could try playing with your closet significantly BEFORE the need to go out arises, have a little fashion show, and identify 1-3 "going out" outfits/combinations. Then, when you need to get dressed for such an occasion, you don't have to spend a lot of time planning what to wear when you're trying to get out the door. If you still don't have the pieces you need, definitely gather inspiration on Pinterest or Instagram and then use the capsule planner from the unfancy (www.un-fancy.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/capsuleplanner_2016.pdf) to identify key pieces that you might want to buy. The whole point is to be INCREDIBLY SPECIFIC about things you want to add to your wardrobe, so, if you can do that on your own, more power to you!

    I'm so creeped out... This is my exact thought process lol, however i don't count my clothing... I just try to make sure it don't get annoyed by the clothes (density) when i try and take one piece out. I went home to visit my parents and used a wardrobe filled to the brim with their clothes (it overflowed from their room to mine) and the most frustrating part of my holiday was trying to take clothes in and out of the wardrobe.. a wrestling match every time! i also have thick wooden hangers for that reason, i hear people give tips on how to have more wardrobe space by using really thin velvet hangers and I'm just horrified.

    • @VestedInterests
      @VestedInterests  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oy, I could never use velvet hangers! I currently have the same white, plastic hangers that I've owned for years, but I plan to buy wooden ones if these ever get bent out of shape. Anyway, I definitely agree. It's all about letting your space tell you what it has room for!
