Hi, oh, it is so relieving to hear from someone else, that i am not the only one who preserving favourite clothes and picking less favourite instead ❤ thank you so much for sharing this
Ohhhh yes, I used to be very guilty of this. It's so nice now that I have given myself license to wear those favorite pieces instead of leaving them to die in my closet!
When things have been in the trial separation box for a while and it's time to get rid of it, it's a good idea to try to remember what was in it, before you open it. If you can't even remember that you put that shirt in there that you felt so bad about giving away, then that's a clear sign you don't need it.
Hahaha, yes! That's a great idea. I've heard something similar where, if you're tempted to dig around in the TSB because you "have nothing to wear," you have to recall the exact item that you want to pull out of the box before you can open it.
Really great tips! Love the ' ask yourself would you buy it again' tip. Thanks! I use a tip which is to turn the hanger backwards everytime you wear an item and then at the end of the season/month you can see what you didn't wear and get rid of it. It works pretty well and the donated items are usually the things that aren't favourites. :)
Nice! I actually recently spoke about the "hanger method" in a video. It's a very effective method, and good too to see what you haven't worn in a while if you want to mix it up.
Gosh I love your channel so much. I don’t even leave comments on TH-cam but I had to say you’re one of-if not-my favorite TH-camr. Thanks for the minimalistic wisdom.
Another tip: be sure when you do make new purchases that you are buying the best quality you can afford and in classic styles so they will last a long time.
Hats, wallets, shoes... Those things always fit, so they're easy to buy! If you actually want to buy less though, a little shopping fast isn't as painful as it sounds. Good luck on your journey!
Thanks! Oh man, I used to do that so much! I actually still catch myself doing that sometimes, and I have to actively stop myself and wear those items. After a year of having less than 50 items and actually wearing those favorites more, I can report back that none of them are any worse for wear!
Vested Interests I will say I do “save” a couple of items for church and the occasional date night. I stay home with 3 small children (one who’s nursing and constantly pulling and tugging on tops) so clothing can be ruined somewhat easily and I rarely make it through a season without at least 2 things I have to get rid of. But like you, my wardrobe is mostly basic pieces and can be somewhat easily replaced.
Ahh, well I think that's legit. I do have a few cats who occasionally like to make biscuits on my clothing and pull a string here and there, but I can definitely see how three small children could be more of a liability.
Tip 3... Yes I be preserving lol smh😎 also convinced myself that even though I lost a few pounds the oversized look is in 😂 ... Dang mother nature closed the curtain on your video. TFS 😊
It's all about what you feel comfortable in! And, you know, what you look and feel your best in. One good thing about having a super small wardrobe is that, when your body changes, you don't have to buy many things to get a whole new wardrobe!
hi, thanks for sharing these tips bcs they do help me so much to downsize my wardrobe, but i do hv question abt what if i already rarely shopping for clothing but my family members (mom + sisters) keep purchasing clothing items for me? what's the best way/act to deal with this kind of situation? thanks before~💚
I actually have a video on "Minimalist Holiday Gift Ideas" that seems perhaps somewhat applicable here (th-cam.com/video/y2zU9U5DkCA/w-d-xo.html). Have you actually explained to them that you're minimizing your possessions? If not, definitely tell them. If gift-giving is a big part of your culture or your relationships with your family, you could 1) explain that you're simplifying, so receiving gifts is actually something counter to your goals for now, 2) perhaps provide them with gift alternatives, if they really insist on buying you stuff (instead of clothing, they could buy you groceries or take you to a restaurant or save up for a family vacation or make a donation to charity in your name). If you explain what you're trying to do and make sure they know that you appreciate the gesture and want to spend time with them, but you don't actually want or need more stuff, they'll probably understand. Good luck!
I made a video on accessories, but I only covered things like scarves, jewelry, sunglasses (th-cam.com/video/IYfvdpRl-tQ/w-d-xo.html if you're interested). I should make a video talking about those things eventually, but, since you asked: I have not yet pared down my handbag collection. I have seven purses. I use one everyday and three others on occasion, so I should probably part with the other three. I have an umbrella that lives in my car, but no other rain gear to speak of. I have three hats. I never wear them. And I have two card holders: one that always lives in my purse and one that lives in a drawer and holds cards that I don't use often. I do not rotate wallets/cardholders.
Noooooo!! Wear your favorites! To be completely honest, I still spot myself doing this occasionally, but I'm getting better at noticing it and almost forcing myself to wear them. It's much easier to do now that I have 32 items of clothing!

I'm SO guilty of "preserving" my favorite items...so thank you! I'll keep that in mind next time I declutter!
Good! Wear those favorite things! They want to be worn.
🤔 I do the same thing, what's wrong with me LOL
Yep, great channel.

Aww, thank you so much! That's so sweet of you to say!
Same 😁
My goal is to have only clothes I love in my wardrobe. I discovered what styles and colors I look good in and keep only those.

Thank you for your speedy response. It's just that I do have a lot of hats and wallets and umbrellas and etx, I have a shopping problem. 😶

New to your channel, loving it. When you talk about preserving items I laughed bc I do this literally every day!!!! Why?! Makes no sense

This was a really great video if I think about how much money I spent on clothing that I wasted and just gave away because they didn't spark joy
What about purses, and rain gear, hats, do you have a collection of wallets

defo guilty of keeping my "good" clothes for special occasions and wearing things that are only ok
