I have all of my clothes and shoes, with the exception of my outdoor coats, in one closet. Having items stored in different places triggers my mild OCD tendencies!
I am into capsules as long as I am slowly paring down. I still have more clothes than I need, but I do not want to purge items I really like. But most of my clothes are really old, so I wear them until I look like a ragged woman and then can replace it in the next season by items in storage. It is almost like go shopping. But I have to admit that I am really looking forward to a real minimal wardrobe. In some areas I am already where I have to replace with new things (longsleeves) In others (T-Shirts) it will still need a few years to reach my goal.
I did something similar for a while, and I think it was a really beneficial exercise for helping me to identify my true style. Take things slow and experiment while you have the options! If you really want to continue streamlining your wardrobe, it's a natural next step from where you're at, and you'll know the time is right when it comes.
I have my clothes in two small closets, bedroom and office and a rolling rack, which bothers me too, I intend on having fewer pieces all together, I have been way more selective on my purchases but I still struggle with owning more than I should
If you haven't seen my "Tips for Simplifying/Minimizing Your Wardrobe" or "How to Build a Cohesive, Minimal Wardrobe," check them out. Those are the techniques that I found really effective to get down to what I have today. It took about a year for me to get to 50 items of clothing, and, of course, I started making videos the day I hit 50 items, which isn't super helpful to show the process to get there, wah wah. Giving yourself time is important so you can really internalize minimalist principles, see what works for you, and keep yourself from reverting. Tempering that with a little bit of "just rip off the bandaid and do it already" is important though too. ;) Good luck!
I love your videos. They have been some of the most helpful ones I've seen on TH-cam regarding minimizing clothing.
Thank you so much! Nice to hear they're useful. ~*~*validation*~*~

Same. My husband wishes I didn't keep my shoes in my main closet, but I prefer having them all together.
I am the exact same when it comes to having all my clothes together...it gives me anxiety to have some stored somewhere else 😕
Susan D same here
