The mouse weight really is up to your intended playstyle tho subjectively the light mouse does have some advantages, especially in fps games. For heavier mice you would usually want to play higher sensitivity, as you need more energy to start moving the mouse, making far movements hard. Lighter mice are better for lower sensitivity, which lets you be more precise and controlled with your overall aim. They require less power to start moving and keep going. Although heavier mice might have higher stopping power, due to the weight pressing down onto the mousepad, it does get balanced out by your sensitivity once again, as high sens requires high stopping power, while low sens gets you a bit more room to have lower stopping power. All in all what i want to say is that light mice are indeed better in tactical fps games (valorant or cs2), due to more effortless movements on low sensitivity, however in other fast moving fps (apex, overwatch) a heavier mouse with high sensitivity would be the better go to.
In the end it mostly comes down to your playstyle: high sens + heavy mouse, low sens + light mouse

Talking just about al light mouse, I used to have an office mouse that weighted around those 20 grams

Does the slight shift in weight even do anything beneficial? I would assume it could slide basically just as good. I’ve never thought “This mouse is too heavy I need a lighter one.”

I like heavy mouse. When I’m gaming I want to work my wrist, if it’s not sore after 10 mins then it’s too light
