You'll see I was wearing a SPIS badge today - SPIS (or Strangle Places in Scotland) is a fun Facebook page run by Jag Betty and Solo Bro (both of whom have TH-cam channels). They are local to us (Broughty Ferry and Arbroath) and I recommend checking them out if you don't know about them already. They sometimes hide badges on their trips and Alicja and I were lucky enough to track one down in Montrose. It was a fun treasure hunt!
Hi, I’m Steve, a travel reviewer from Scotland. Join me on my adventures as I discover my own country, often visiting places for the first time, so hopefully it's as much of an eye-opener for you as it is for me! Don't expect expert opinion, just a very honest journey of discovery. Sometimes featuring my intrepid sidekick Alicja, sometimes featuring adventures beyond the borders of Scotland. Enjoy!

This channel is so underrated.
You deserve way more views and subscribers. I can think alot worse travel channels that have more subs.
Keep up the good work Steve.
Hopefully those subs keep rising every month.
Thanks so much Tom really appreciate your kind words! I'll keep working hard to produce the best videos I can and hopefully the numbers will come naturally with that strategy :)

This was amazing oh how I love Scotland! Well, worth the 99 pounds, I feel, for this spectacular tour. Thank you for sharing it with us. 🧡
Wow! The rock formation is just extraordinary! This was superb. Thank you. 🙋🏴🇨🇮🙏
Fabulous day out ! Thanks for taking us along ♥
As a Glaswegian you forget how pretty and scenic our country is -she's a 10 absolute stunner!
I'm from Oban & lived in Glasgow for 4 years in my mid to late 20's. While I loved my stint there, I eventually got home sick. I think that if you're born by the sea, you miss it. But Glasgow's superb because you don't have to travel for hours to be in the countryside.
@@heeeeeresrossy Unsure what's superb about Glasgow, I've worked all over Glasgow and surrounding areas and today it looks worse than ever, I'm often baffled as 2what people see that I don't.
The sheer volume of homeless people is also very disturbing.
@@G4RY1159 every big city from London to LA has these problems in fairness and then some...I've lived here through 80s 90s when it was murder capital of Europe. I
@@furryrug5998 OH Agree, I read a few a review a few months back on someone saying how nice Pollockshaws West train station was, I'd happily meet that person so they can show me what I'm missing, same with many other train stations that are massively lacking in any investment, people just don't look properly or take much interest, all busy now glued to a phone screen.
@@G4RY1159 well, If I'm totally being honest...not all of my time in Glasgow was happy. The city is handy & pretty central if you wanna get away to Oban for example. We're just 2 hours from Glasgow, which is what I meant to highlight. But yea, the city itself is sh*tty in areas. For example; I used to work for Barratt Homes. I worked in & eventually lived in Kingston Key opposite The House of Sher. Once Barratt were done selling all the flats, they simply left along with their concierge. The place soon filled up with drug dealers & prostitutes & became a real sh*thole. So I moved, but this time to a flat directly next to the Barrowlands. That was even worse! My car got broken into twice & their were even more prostitutes & dodgy buggers kicking about. Fair to say I didn't stay too long. Saying that, I then moved into a house in a decent area of Renfrew (Robertson Avenue) which was 100 times better. I spent most of the years there, so that's why it wasn't all bad.
That was a beautiful journey thank you for taking the time to share it with me from the comfort of my armchair, your presentation was beautiful, thanks again.
Absolutely loved seeing this again. We (from the US) were there last year and it was marvelous, we hope to return. Truly there is something magic in those isles. Thank you, Steve!!
What a great day! The west of Scotland is a gift that just keeps on giving.
So true mate!
Beautiful, simply beautiful and the puffins are delightful! Thank you, guys!!!!!
Massive Thanks again folks, you were blessed with some lovely weather, bit busy for my liking.
Cheers!
You have made me so happy Steve. I absolutely love the little puffins. To see that many must have been so special and I am sure will be a lasting memory.
the Bennu Hill music would have worked too.
Cheers Del, funny wee fellas eh! :)
Scotland never disappoints and never do my two favourite TH-camrs ❤️ thanks again!! My weekend highlight!! Thanks again and can't wait for your next share.....
Thanks so much Richard!
Another fantastic journey from our living room, wonderful places we can only dream about these days, realy appreciate the "trips" you take us. Kind regards Jim and David
Alicja and Steve! Magnificent video! I was waiting for Hades to appear in that cave 😂 Perfect timing with the last puffing going into his borrow; such cute birds. The music was perfect! Thank you both for taking us on this magical voyage. Blessings
ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THIS WORLD FANTASTIC. BIG THANK YOU
Stunning is an understatement, what amazing places.
Now that is is a stunning Vlog. The Islands were just gorgeous and the Puffins just lovely. That cave was something else.
A really fantastic day Rupert!
thanks for a great trip again Steve and Alicja👍👍
Thanks so much, it was a very enjoyable day oot!
Wonderful trip. Loved the geology of Staffa, the dolphins and of course the puffins.
Thanks mate, we got very lucky with the weather!
Wow fantastic. So pleased you visited Mull (I did recommend this a couple of years ago 😊) Such a beautiful island and I had the pleasure of living there 20+ years ago. In fact you would have passed my old house when you were on the bus in Salen which is just before the road goes to single track. Fantastic filming of Staffa, Lunga and the beautiful sea birds.
Your thanking us for coming along with you, no no its us who thank you guy's.
What a brilliant vlog and a really beautiful place.. stay safe 🙏
Stunning. Simply gorgeous. Many thanks to you and Alicja.
Amazing trip and good value for money. Thanks for the lovely film as always
Thanks so much Jen!
Fingal's Cave looks like some incredible fantasy painting, hard to believe it's actually a real place
So true!
Lovely tour video Steve. Fingal cave rock formation and the puffins are amazing . Alicja is correct ,coffee is the way to start the day in any country😀
Thanks Steve, yet another utterly beautiful and throughly enjoyable, very interesting video. I very much hope, that whenever I do this trip, the weather is as lovely as you had it. Thank you again 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Oh I wish you fair conditions! Not only blue skies but calm seas so there is no problem with getting ashore!
@steve-marsh Awwww Thanks Steve, ya to kind ..... can't wait to go .... whenever that is ... Oh, and thanks for the very informative and very useful info right at the very end of the video 👍😃👍
Thank you both for taking us along, what a great tour and the price wasn't bad, considering. Loved the puffin music, genius😂. Great collection of images at the end too👍
I swear they waddle about with that music in their heads :)
Cheers Steve/Alicija for another fascinating half-hour - I loved it!
I'm also told by a geologist that the basalt rocks in Staffa/Portrush (NI) were formed by a flow which started nearby Achnasheen in the Highlands - which seems inpressive at least to me! :)
And the same flow may be responsible for the Giant's causeway in Ireland. There's not much distance between the two countries.
Brilliant video, Steve. One of the best yet. A great advert for Scottish tourism with superb weather thrown in. Unbeatable scenery and great wildlife. What could be better?
It really was a brilliant day!
Enthralling but it's what we always get from Steve❤
Just a spectacular part of our beautiful Planet, don’t spoil it 🙏🙏🙏
Goodness how brilliant! We now furiously googling how to make a trip happen for us! Mull has always been on our bucket but Lunga has sealed the deal.
Puffins!!!!
It really is an amazing trip! I wish you similar weather and puffins!
That's on my bucket list Steve & Alicia. Thanks for another great video 👍🏴
Thanks Wendy! Be sure to try and go during puffin season, it's wonderful!
The rattle on the coach seems to be the universal rattle on all coaches!
Many thanks for taking us along with you on this wonderful trip. Definitely a place worth visiting! 🐧
Beautiful photography and such a gorgeous day for that trip.
What a fabulous trip Steve. Puffins & dolphins on the same day? Awesome! Staffa looked incredible and I must tick it off my bucket list someday. You've also got me thinking of doing a day trip to Mull when we're staying on the Isle of Seil next month so I'm going to get my thinking cap on now 😊
Once again mate we got lucky with the conditions eh? And such a bonus to see all the wildlife! You'll be up that way soon eh!
You were right, Steve- the puffins absolutely needed that music! They’re such animated and inquisitive birds. And the cave was truly magical! 😊
Oops, meant to reply to this one. The Benny Hill Yakkity Sax music would have been good too.
Hi Both. Excellent enjoyable video. Love puffin music. Great filming. Wow those paths were close. Great shots of cave granite. U wouldn't stand there 60 million yrs ago when it was a volcano. Looking forward to seeing your next video. Best wishes David and Beverley Norfolk
Another great video.
I lost my right leg aged 7 running into the road without looking and barely survived as a passenger in a serious car crash aged 24 shattering my thigh and knee cap of my "good leg"
Mum and Dad were great, they never wrapped me in cotton wool and encouraged me not to think I was disabled.
I was very active until about a year ago when my 76 years finally caught up with me and my knee is getting its own back.
Your wonderful You Tube videos, as well as many others, allow me to explore places I can no longer manage to walk around.
While on holiday in Oban in 2016 we took the car to Mull for a day, this was when Balarmory was a series on CBeebies, we earned much street cred with our 4 grandchildren when we posted photos on Face Book.
We drove round the northern and western parts of the island before returning to Craignure, the road under the massive cliffs in the west, Atlantic Cliffs?, were awesome, I did manage to get some photos but they didn’t do them justice.
Thanks again, keep them coming.
Wonderful stuff always a joy see the team out on your travels Alicja got her coffee ☕️ great views as Usual Steve a joy to view
West coast of Scotland, the best place ever, I visit 5/6 times a year rain or shine, just awesome, cheers you two👍
Cheers Marty! Hard to disagree mate!
Fantastic adventure I would love to visit those Scotish islands beautiful scenery and glorious sunshine x thank you both x
Not a bad place for a day trip. Absolutely stunning.
Spectacular! A must-do trip.
Thanks for sharing, as someone who has been to the Giants Causeway I must say I am very impressed with the other side of the rock formation at Fingal's Cave, much more impressive.
What an amazing trip that looked for you and Alicja Steve, I envy you both seeing puffins so close up, they're brilliant.
LOVED this adventure from start to finish! Thank you for taking us along. ☺️
Aww thanks so much Gabriele!
I like the way the Puffins crash land, then immediately hunker down, as if that was their intention all along. Thanks again for your efforts mate.
Hi Steve.
I loved that puffin music...I half expected. Charlie Chaplin to waddle by !😂
Haha cheers Heather! I swear that music must be in their heads
Haha Tim so true mate!!! :D
What a great day out. Beautiful place. Amazing that you had such a glorious day. Thanks for sharing!
We got VERY lucky, especially with sea conditions for landing
Ah, Steve, that was absolutely brilliant! Just mesmerising! 👊💥
Thanks David!
Wow! Perfect weather for this exciting trip. Thanks Steve.
So true Ellen, we were very lucky, especially with calm seas!
That was totally like a mini vacation. How were those wierd hexagon rocks formed....mother nature is amazing...total works of art!!
Slightly envious as we could not go last year due to Avian flu but did the tour in 2019 and were mesmerized. Have to admit that we did not make it to that amazing bird filled rock, spent the whole two hours and battery and memory card with the first batch of puffins 😅, so even more reason to want to return!
So glad you've had a taste of it too! Many reasons to return for us all!
Absolutely LOVED the puffins. So glad you did this video. I collect all things puffin.
Just fantastic guys, really enjoyed that while having tea with the good lady,
A big smile on our faces watching the wonderful puffins 😅.
Take care guys 😎🏴🕊️
Absolutely stunning tour. I was congratulating you on not scaring me and then all of a sudden we're on this teeny-weeny narrow path and I'm cringing again. You guys must be related to goats you have such sure footing. Loved the puffins! Thank you guys for the work Thank you guys for the effort you go to to make these wonderful videos for us. Be well, stay safe, travel far. Love from Texas.
Truly beautiful & thrilling! The scenery & Fingal's Cave are amazing & the puffins are adorable & quirky. Your videos are always so delightful & charming! Such a joy to watch! Thank you!
Cracking scenery and wildlife Steve. Beautifully photographed too. I confess to a minor ungentlemanly moment at the beauty of the dolphins but I'm a saft auld bugger anyway. I also particularly noticed how you are unfailingly polite to the staff and crew at every entrance and exit. You thanked every one of them. It is said that the measure of a man is not in how he treats the rich and famous but how he treats animals and waiters / waitresses and other helpers.
Really appreciate that, so a big thank you to you too!
@@steve-marsh You're a good man Steve Marsh.
I've lived in Oban all my life and only done that trip once. But I loved it & love living in this part of the world. So beautiful this time of year. Glad you both loved it. Cheers Steve! 👍
Living in Oban, you my friend, are one lucky person. You may as well be living in the Garden of Eden. I would wish you a happy life, but you already have it. Cheers from the U.S.
@@scottie2636 thank you for those kind words my friend. Yep, Oban is a great wee town I was fortunate enough to be born in. The scenery is second to none. And whatsmore...my house looks over the bay to Kerrera, Mull & beyond. Hope you get to visit sometime soon buddy. Cheers! 🍻
Thanks so much, love Oban btw!
Steve, although I am a train buff, you have done a great job of getting me interested in different types of water transport.
Fabulous pictures from a once-in-a-lifetime trip. Thanks so much!
Another fantastic video. The rock formations look very similar to those on the Giant's Causeway. And oh, the puffins! Beautiful, droll little birds!
Outstanding! You got to be proud to be Scottish!
Another spectacular vlog from you two. Love the clowns of the sea ❤
Cheers Janine, great name for them :)
What a fabulous trip. Scotland never ceases to be simply breathtaking.
Cheers mate! Thanks for watching as always :)
Nowhere more beautiful then the British isles when the weather is good
It really is one of the most wonderful parts of our planet. The whole area is teaming with spectacular wildlife living among some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. Can't wait to get back there.
Well said!
What alovely video, views boat journey, Cave good, sounds, Puffins are like busy little people, really gorgeous ❤,
Haha they so are!!!! :D
Never seen a Puffin in real life.
Wonderful! Thank you so much. X
And to you Louisa for watching!
Absolutely love your videos Steve. The foreign videos are great but when you do a nearer to home one it really shows how beautiful Scotland and the Isles really are ❤❤
Hi Steve I loved this video. Thank-you very much for doing your videos, as a wheelchair user myself you make it possible for folk like myself to see places like this that wouldn't normally be physically possible to see so thanks again. Please keep doing your videos as they are brilliant. 👍
We did this trip last April and had weather just like this. Unforgettable but fun to relive it through the video!
What a superb video! Scotland's coastal scenery is amazing at the best of times, but add a sunny day and we're a world beater.
What an amazing and GORGEOUS area of the world. Breathtaking! Thank you so much for sharing this. The Puffin music was perfect! 😆
OMG! I was looking this morning through the Daily Memories on my Amazon photos and this very trip came up on the very day of your video publication. I did it in 2014, from Oban as part of a coach trip package organised by Oban's West Coast Motors. I think it was only £25 with the ferry, coach across Mull to Fionnphort, boat to Staffa with landing, then a few hours on Iona. Such a bargain and the weather was brilliant too, and the puffins.
Oh would love to visit Iona one day, possibly combined with a wee wild camp at Calgary beach on Mull!
I did that trip last summer. highly recommended! the staff on the boats are indeed locals and are also mainly volunteers x
What was the name of the trip please
@@jillridgway7012 Hi! Oh I can't remember the name of the tour but they can be found via Google and offer different durations xxx
Now, THAT was a memorable trip! I can’t believe the fantastic weather you got. Hurray for “shoulder season”, or I imagine you would not have gotten reservations so last minute. I also appreciate you two making the hikes (so I don’t have to!)
Cheers, and ATB
You brought back such happy memories of my 2015 trip. We were able to get a small tour boat right out of Oban, though. Yes! The price is WORTH IT! Notes at the end of you video might also include bringing a wind proof or rain jacket, a substantial lunch and snacks, sunscreen, and a hat. There were lots of seasick, wet, sunburned folks on our return trip. FanTAStic adventure!
@TracyAnneSena can you pass on the information about the smaller boat tour right out of Oban?
@@cbrettp Sadly, no. We saw an adversiment (signboard) near the dock that gave the info. It was somewhere on the way to the ferry building. It was about €120 - and worth every penny. (Also take walking sticks, if you have them. It helped navigate the rocky shore (tide was waaay out) and the hill up to the puffins.
nature is beautiful in Scotland, how many puffins! I love them!! thank you Steve and Alicja!!
They are so funny to watch :)
❤marvellous❤ best trip yet. Staffa was magnificent. Thank you so much for visiting and recording places I always wanted to see but due to disability never will. So enjoyed your wonderfully recorded trip.
Hi Guys, it just gets better and better. Great video, scenery and Puffins were brilliant. All topped off with glorious sunshine. Thanks again.
Brings back wonderful memories of a trip to Mull, Staffa and Iona many years ago. Weather was not so kind and i am not a good sailor, say no more! Probably one if the few people who has been to Staffa but no where near the cave on land, but did obviously see from the water.
A beautiful part of t
he world and through your videos reliving great times, which due to health problems can't be repeated.
Thank you so much Steve and Alicia.
Sea sickness, I know you well!
Another winner Steve, we both enjoyed your trip, lovely scenery, thank you
Well, didn't you guys get a fancy boat to Staffa!
We were put on the back of a fishing boat, in less than ideal conditions (all the seats inside were taken)😅
The skipper told us that it would be 'a wee bit splashy'.... we were totally drenched right down to our unmentionables...ha ha.
One of the passengers was absolutely green, and a German guy dressed in a plastic rubbish bag started singing German sea shanties to cheer us all up. Everyone sang along even though we didn't know the words, it was hilarious.
It had been raining on Staffa, so we were too scared to walk down to the cave on slippery rocks unfortunately.
I did feel a bit better when I saw that fearless Aliceija was also a bit scared (and she's so brave). Thanks for filming the cave and showing us what we missed.
We always go to Scotland too late to see the puffins, but one day we'll make it on time.
We did Mull, Staffa and Iona on our day trip... it was a great day (apart from wearing the sea).
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I did the Oban-Mull run last summer, but went out to Iona. Missed the Staffa-Lunga trip due to poor weather, so I am delighted to get to do it (virtually) on a sunny day with you two. As always, top notch, and thanks!
Ach hard lines!!!
May 2024 will be in Scotland for me.
Thank you for making this series on the Faroe Islands. For some reason, my 3 year old daughter was mesmorised by these videos, and she is very difficult to entertain lol
As a geologist, seeing Staff/Fingal's Cave is definitely on my bucket list! I love columnar basalt :) There's a few well-known places in the USA to see it, with interesting names (Devil's Postpile, Devil's Tower, amongst others). I really enjoyed seeing that trip! Seeing the puffins was great as well (appropriate music), my wife is really looking forward to seeing them. Like someone else said, you do an exceptional job promoting Scottish toursim.
Absolutely stunning. liked and thank you very much.
What an amazing tour, reviving many wonderful memories - and your photography is second to none. Very uplifting on a cold, wet November day! Thanks both!
That was a wonderful day trip and gorgeous weather! Really enjoying all your latest videos! Those puffins were so adorable. Enjoy those rain free days!
Enjoyed watching this. Soo many puffins and Staffa looked amazing
Another cracking video from you Steve, your just so natural in all of them, your sidekick adds so much humour to them too, long may you continue.
Another brill video, love your watching videos on a Saturday morning with the missis and bacon sandwic,,. Life is good Steve, love the channel...
Bacon + TH-cam = good times!
Oh wow, this brings back memories. I’ve been to Mull, Iona, and Staffa on three separate occasions, and loved every minute. I loved passing the lighthouse on the ferry to Craignure.
We still need to get to Iona!
A great video once again Steve. What incredible scenery.Your filming and pictures of the puffins was spectacular .Well done.
Fingals cave, wow! Just wow!
Well that was 30 minutes very well spent. What a great day out.
Fantastic all round...thank you both 👍
I'm currently up in Tain for the next 10 days, it feels like home up here. Lots of driving and exploring to do.... thanks to Steve lol with all his amazing videos. I also became a patreon member for you because of all the amazing stuff you both do, so thank you.
