Two tips if you're ever stuck overnight in London: Take the N9 Night Bus to Heathrow and back (maybe costs £3.20 return and kills 3/4 hours but check the over-complicated touch in/out rules: 4.95 maximum I think for 2 or more trips), or take the Oxford Tube from Victoria Coach Station to Oxford - £18 return for the 5 hour return journey (including wait at Oxford) and it runs 24/7. Not ideal but I guess it's like for you taking the night coaches between Glasgow and Edinburgh (cheaper than a hotel).

How you fall flat on your face in that hotel… It was in autumn 2000. I was working for a company in Cologne, some 8½ miles from where I live. No buses or trains available to get there for the early shift which started at 5:30am, pay too pishpoor to own a car, so the remaining option was my bicycle. From Tuesday to Wednesday, early shift began. When I got home on Friday it must have been about 2:30pm. I dropped my backpack and fell flat on my face onto my bed with my winter jacket still on, just to relax a minute as I was miles beyond knackered. I woke up around the same hour on Saturday, in exactly the position I hit the bed 24 hours earlier… Falling over like that is a sign that the schedule is in danger! 😂 Very interesting trip! 🤗
Egads Steve. You're a glutton for punishment and completely bonkers. I've done a few trips like this and at the time I found them to be wretched, but once the rose-tinted specs of time kick in I look back and kinda relish the adventures. Steve, I used your video in my English class here in Montevideo today. Great content. People definitely didn't think the savings were worth it, but happy to see you took the plunge and did the video. I got to teach them. "took the plunge". It was fun seeing London at night.
Another great video. I think this is less about the few quid saved and more about creating an adventure. The plane delays are always a pain but the pax have to be on board in case an opportunity arises to take off earlier.
Steve, what I appreciate is these trips are, I assume, partially funded by your well deserved subs, ads & patrons. Yet you are frugal (which we all are) showing us how to travel safely and comfortably at a reasonable or cheap price plus the highlights and lowlights of your endeavours. Your vids make me want to get out and see more. Good work my man 👍
Hi, Steve. If you really want to save money, you could try the Google Maps walking route. Only 534 hours non-stop. It takes you on a narrow road over the Pyrenees and, 10 days later, Wigan.
Oh Steve, you were close to a solution for the night in London! There is a fairly infamous 24hr cafe called Polo Bar that is next to Liverpool Street station. It's safe and food is good apparently (and cheapish by London standards). Clientele are interesting too as you would expect at night! I haven't been myself, but was seriously considering it a few weeks back when thanks to the rail strikers I had a long planned music concert trip ruined because I couldn't get a train home the same night, and as I didn't find out until late all London hotels within M25 were either booked or hiked up their prices to levels I refuse to pay. So after much searching I found out about the cafe. The only reason I didn't come out to London and tough out the night (and I now regret not doing it) was because of a health condition I have which would not have taken kindly to 20+hrs of no sleep before I may have gotten home, but next time for you maybe worth a punt? Thanks for the heads-up on the day use hotel website. Never knew about that before 👍. Would have helped me out during the rail strike!
I have been watching a lot of videos on travel in Japan. They seem to have so many more options to lay down for the night than either a full hotel or wander the streets - anywhere from reasonably priced pod hotel to just a clean, safe spot on a floor. I wish other countries had more options like that.
You made me recall a comment a friend made about 40 years ago when on a budget trip to visit shrines, we discovered we'd need to bivy overnight in the gardens of a shrine in Kyoto on a cold night. In the dark, we decided we needed to get cardboard to use as a groundsheet - from someone's garbage. The process of retrieving the cardboard started quite a cacophany of barking dogs. Upon seeing someone come and look out the window to discover the source of the rucus, that's when my friend TIm said, "the housewife just told her husband, 'no worries honey, it's just foreigners in the garbage again', I think we're all good"! As @Erin McGrath noted above, I also don't think I'm up for this sort of adventure anymore.
Pod hotels exist, it's just the reasonably priced bit that hasn't been taken on-board. The few that have sprung up seem to be marketed as some mix of "experience" and green waving eco bullshyt aimed at bearded twats with too much money and no sense.
@@steve-marsh I think its down to behaviors. I stayed in a capsule hotel in Japan and people are very respectful and keep quiet. They also dont make a mess and follow all the rules. I doubt very much a capsule hotel in London would work so well - I can just imagine a bunch of pissed up lads coming in at 2am and causing chaos
My wife and I chanced upon this report, thoroughly enjoyed it, and took out a subscription. "Was it worth the [money] [we] saved ?" is a question we've asked ourselves more than once and usually the answer has been "no". But you never know that ahead of time and "traveller's luck" (or lack of it) often plays a big role. One thing though - when you're travelling alone you aren't subjected to "analysis" by an irritated travel partner about whose great idea this was !
Reminds me of a time a few years ago when I took a 6 month solo walkabout covering Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Italy, Israel, Greece, Turkey, Vienna and Prague. Damn, I need to go on another one before I get too old! Too much left to see. Good stuff, Steve.
I recently travelled on Flixbus for the first time (day time though) and was pleasantly surprised. You also have the option of paying to have the seat next to you as well for an extra tenner, meaning you get two seats (and associated space) all to yourself. Also, I would highly recommend a portable charger for when you’re on the move, as it takes away the worry of needing to find a charging point. Love your vids by the way!
Steve, and anyone else, if stuck in London in the middle of the night, go to casino district. It closes around 930 am. Get the first addition of the papers, a lot of small very goofy Greek restaurants. Great places.
Well, Steve, part of me is deeply sympathetic with the challenges you faced in that journey. I really felt for you crossing Hungerford Bridge at 4am! At the same time, I'm wondering why you'd do such things for our benefit? Anyway, as always, thank you for yet another lovely travel review.
You showed great stamina there Steve. London is a smashing place but add a dose of uncertainty to it and you need to enter into survival mode. After Spain and Gibraltar it must have been some contrast for you. Thanks for sharing
Absolutely love the channel Steve! My Dad who lives in Thailand got me following you last year when I was working in Saudi Arabia. Now I am in Qatar and look forward to your updates, I think I am one of the very few Scots here at the moment :-) Keep the videos coming! All the best, Cammy.

As a FT traveler I am amazed at what you put yourself through. Am not wealthy, but since sleep is my "religion", I make sure that the hours between 8 PM and 5 AM I am able to lie flat and nod off. It can be a train, ship, biz class airline seat or, preferably, an apartment rental or hotel. And yes, I have to take a biz class seat as I can't sleep in economy seats now that I am older. Gibraltar has a (relatively) short runway and frequent windshear. Because of that I'd imagine that the airlines discourage their crews from derating the engines much on takeoff.
The reason for the fast take-off is for when the Spanish get petty or downright nasty, depending how they are feeling when they get up in the morning. The regular pilots stay in practice. Gibraltar is essentially a military airport and as you say, the runway IS short. The border runs in an arc in Algeciras Bay exactly half way between the Gibraltar Coast and the Spanish Coast. There is a ramp at the eastern end of the runway. Maybe, Steve's Easy Jet job didn't need it but my BA aircraft, in 1974, a bit bigger than that Easy Jet thing, DID need it. Although we landed from the East, the Spanish were causing trouble about taking off to the East and the prevailing wind is from the West. Steve's flight took off Eastwards after dark when things were cooler and the Spanish are being quiet at the moment. When taking off Westwards, because of the really tight turn to port (anti-clockwise) to stay in British airspace, if the plane is too heavy or the temperature is too high, then there is a danger of stalling. When I flew out, the Spanish were being particularly nasty. Even though it was March, on that evening it was very, VERY and unexpectedly hot and 4 of us nearly got left behind because the temperature was too high for everyone else AND us and our luggage, I hasten to add, we WERE travelling standby at a ridiculously cheap price. We hung around under a bit of shade with our baggage and the captain and another member of the crew, the captain delaying the flight to see if the temperature would drop sufficiently before he really had to go to get his slot at Heathrow. Some passengers also got off and wandered around because of the heat. The temperature did drop sufficiently at the very last moment. The captain got the message from the tower. Our baggage was hurriedly loaded and everyone got on the plane. The plane was backed up the ramp and the engines ramped up to full power. The brakes were released and we were catapulted down the runway with the sound of thunder as the runway surface was not the best at that time, our cheeks sunken in and somewhere close to our ears. Directly after lift-off, we tipped sharply to port and we had the most magnificent rolling view of the rock as we did a bit more than 180° to head East and then North-East with the Spanish coast in view a dozen or so miles away. As you see in the video, Steve's flight was inland of Málaga but not us. British flights few over Spanish territory all the time dumping and picking up tourists and to Madrid etc. The Spanish econmoy would have been badly hit if they had tried to ban all British flights .... NO ... only flights in and out of Gibraltar. The stupidity of the Spanish petty nastiness was that the instant we were heading North-East, because of IATA rules, we came under Barcelona Air Traffic Control. The Spanish may get nasty again soon. In the recent elections in Spain, Vox have gained ground. They may be vital for the formation of a stable coalition and, as always, they are bellicose about Gibraltar. Many Gibraltarians have grown fat on on-line gambling and they have nice houses across the border up in the mountains but they expect to run back into Gibraltar if the Spanish really do turn nasty again. They don't want their sons or themselves forced into military service. Let us hope that cooler heads remain in charge in Madrid. Spain's position is indefensible, not only because since the Rock became British, Spain fell totally under the French (Napoleon) and were rescued by British troops dying on Spanish soil to free them from the French. Back as an independent country, they fought against each other and had revolution after revolution ending with the Spanish Civil War and Franco and his mob taking over. If there is any legitimacy to the current Spanish State, it only begins in 1939 and Gibraltar had been British sovereign territory for 235 years by then. For any Madrid cabal to lay claim to Gibraltar is about as ridiculous as them laying claim to Argentina or Venezuala, or Chile. Their claim is doubly indefensible whilst they continue to occupy territory which is Moroccan.
Fast take off acceleration is due to the runway length. The faster they can get up to V1 / V2 / Rotate speed the more runway distance they have available to abort (And stop in time)
One wee correction, Steve. That thing you passed in Gibraltar is not very Straight; however, it is the oh, so very Strait of Gibraltar. PS. I love your videos!
9:39 category C aircrafts depating from Gibraltar have to add on approx 10-15knotts more than usual on departure this is due to the unpredictable turbulence caused by the rock. So a normal A320 take off is aound 150knotts (175mph) but for Gibraltar its take off speed is 160-165knotts
Steve you made an important point about lack of seating in airports etc and it becomes more important as you get older. Why is there not more seating when folk have to wait for long periods? An empty airport and not being routed though 'duty free' is a real rarity! After years travelling all I want to do now is jump in the car and walk around a quite loch in the rain! Once again a very interesting video.
I'm really starting to find airports the most tiring, uncomfortable places to spend any amount of time! Especially when they then call you for boarding when the inbound aircraft is still 200 miles away, that's my other gripe :D They seem to view seating as a luxury when it's very much a necessity!
Oh, my dear man, your dedication is outstanding. I'm tired just watching this. lol The things you do for us! That was quite the trip. Really enjoyed Gibraltar and everything before. Some beautiful spots there! We finally got caught up. Had to watch our son's cats for a week after we got back from Winnipeg, his oven broke, his washer leaked water all over the floor and then we finally got our new metal roof installed. No more blowing shingles in the next hurricane! After a busy October to remember we sure are grateful to have such wonderful videos from you to watch. Keep them coming!
Back in the day, I used to do crazy trips like this but now I need a little comfort and night buses or roaming the streets doesn't fit in to that. Good on you though Steve for having the patience and strength for it 👍👍
Awesome Video Steve! I'd go to that Gibraltar airport just for that view, WOW! Never have I seen such cheap airport drink prices, better stock up! lol. You were so right to take the train from Gatwick, we took the bus from there to London and it was full of traffic delays and and overall nightmare... Again, great video. Thanks Steve. A mate of mine in the islands called Maurice (after the singer Maurice Chevalier), used to wonder why the tourists used to marvel at the sheep, sea views and ponies. The commonplace should always be documented for the generations that come after us.. for example ... Montrose?
Thanks for another great video Steve. I'm not sure you've got the right clothing for warm weather. We had 35°C in winter and are dressed for summer already.
Great video Steve. For the benefit of us wouldbe travelers:- in hindsight after a your "Nightmare Trip". What would you do differently? Some dos and don'ts would be helpful.
Thanks Steve for another great video. I've spent a fair few of those overnighter bus journeys in my time, plus cold dark train stations forever waiting! Cheers Mate and safe travels.
Steve, advice from an Aussie. When it's hot wear short sleeves, light coloured (reflects the heat) and one layer only. Undo the first two buttons, wear a wide brim hat that shades your neck (not baseball), apply sunscreen and carry water.
Once again you put in the hard work to show us the travel experiences & challenges along the way etc so well done & thanks for sharing another great video 👍👍👌👌
Love your vids. You've inspired me to do a trip on the Aberdeen northlink ferry to Shetland. Overnight there, day on the island and overnight back. Might do a pod, might splash for a cabin.
Oh Steve, thanks again for a top video. @17:17 : 7..8..9..10..OUT! 🤣 What strucks me in all three video's is the quietness in the Spanish streets. So few pedestrians. Was that due to the temperature overthere? Keep up the good work (but first a good night of well deserved sleep) Greetings
I came to the comments to tell you where you woke up but I was beaten to it. So, the alternative challenge is where to go in the wee small hours in London. Surprisingly, there don't seem to be so many places but the Polo Bar on Bishopsgate is supposedly open 24 hours a day. I'm not a Londoner so there could be others. Great video though.

Great video. Have watched a few of yours lately and now subbed you. I'm severe sight impaired, and love travel; when I can, but nowadays things are a bit different being older and all that. So; you used to work at Meadowbank Stadium did you? Interesting. I used to travel up from London to watch Meadowbank thistle back win the early '80s and had a friend in a chap who stewarded at their matches; being the son of the then deputy manager there. It was strange hearing it mentioned and getting the glimpse as you arrived in Edinburgh. Nearly sang 'We're the pride of London Road!' as we used to on return from away matches (when I went to the odd one I could get up for, what with work etc back in the day). Lovely old memories, thanks.
You’re officially a nutter 😂 I’ve been in this situation in London but not exactly planned. I’d planned to get the sleeper train, never booked a ticket and unbeknown to me it was cancelled just before I tried to book. I literally sat on the night tube and night buses all night. Wasn’t comfy but at least it warm! Glad you enjoyed Flixbus better than NatEx. I do like their services between London and Scotland used it a few times and they’re now also running between Glasgow and Aberdeen for less than a tenner on a good day! Cheers Steve.
Nice airport in Gib, I remember the old one when I lived there in the 1980s, very different but always great for a drink when we welcomed or farewelled friends. Great videos Steve always a pleasure to watch your adventures
I love watching some travel content, with the reviews as you go - especially as you're reviewing the sort of travel options & places I could do, none of this "crossing half the world in a First Class suite" stuff! You are maybe heading towards "Steve tortures himself with terrible overnight journeys" as a channel theme though, and just your description of trying to while away the small hours in Central London made me feel that pain of doing it myself again. Next time - McD's on Strand (right next to Charing Cross) does 24h opening! (Oh, and I think you briefly woke up in Sheffield.)
Thanks, Mate. And Love Montrose. Have a talk about the tidal wave that came over from Norway (8k years ago, I think) and recorded in the bay. Also, the worms with teeth. My mate used to use them as bait.
Thanks Steve!!! You’ve given me the confidence to go on my own adventures. I’ll be going to Dublin, Finland, Barcelona and back home to Glasgow this December :)) Keep up the awesome travel adventures and get some much needed rest when you can!
Wow awesome to see you in my neck of the woods, being in La Linea and Gibraltar! I was like noooooo don't get the plug adapter, because through airside there are benches with both UK and EU sockets. (unless you desperately needed charge). The new Gibraltar air terminal is awesome, and one of my favourite airports to fly into and out from. That is unless the weather is bad and the flight diverts to Malaga. Then it is an absolute shambles with busses, cancellations etc.! The viewing area is awesome and I just love to watch the planes coming in and out and seeing the airfield at work. Awesome airport! Just a local pro tip for next time you fly into, or out of Gibraltar. For outbound from Gibraltar, sit on the LEFT hand side of the aircraft, and for inbound in to gibraltar, sit on the RIGHT hand side of the aircraft. If the wind is blowing the right way, you'll go out the other way and circle right round the rock and the views are amazing! Some of the best views in aviation! If you don't make that side of the aircraft then you can get some great views of the Sierra Nevada mountains, and in winter they are full of snow. At 10:43 I think that is malaga yes. Flights tend to route up there and then turn north. And finally, the big nasty cloud over the rock is the "Levanter" cloud. It happens when the wind is blowing humid from the east. Puts the main centre of Gibraltar into a gloomy grey until it dissipates in the afternoon, or the sun finally starts setting in the West. Really makes the place feel even more British! But yeah great to see Gibraltar featured, not even Noel Philips has made it there! And he calls himself an Av Geek! haha.
I do love these challenges. Seeing different places and modes of transport through different peoples eyes. I usually travel a lot myself but since CoVID and Brexit, I've been loath to get anywhere near a passport control right now. I do want to load up the Tigra though, and head to Scotland one time and do a tour of the country one summer. Next year, I have Georgia planned (provided Gollum doesn't try to blow it up,) so it'll be personally interesting to see how travel has been affected by these factors. Thanks for your video mate, look forward to seeing more! 👍

Good work my man 👍
Hey cheers for that! I often find the less I spend the more fun it is 🤣 although next week will be luxury at a bargain price :)
Hi, Steve. If you really want to save money, you could try the Google Maps walking route. Only 534 hours non-stop. It takes you on a narrow road over the Pyrenees and, 10 days later, Wigan.
Haha now THAT would have been a video! :D
Cheers mate, saved as a mental note for next time - but oh no, you're giving me ideas for future videos!!!
I have been watching a lot of videos on travel in Japan. They seem to have so many more options to lay down for the night than either a full hotel or wander the streets - anywhere from reasonably priced pod hotel to just a clean, safe spot on a floor. I wish other countries had more options like that.
It's so weird how we haven't adopted some of their great ideas!? Is it a case of hotels wanting to be able to keep prices high? I'm very suspicious!
@@MountainParameters 😄
Haha so true 🤣 and thanks so much for subscribing - I hope you’ll stick around for future adventures :)
21:00 "No clue where i woke up!" i can see youre in Sunderland
I recently travelled on Flixbus for the first time (day time though) and was pleasantly surprised. You also have the option of paying to have the seat next to you as well for an extra tenner, meaning you get two seats (and associated space) all to yourself.
Also, I would highly recommend a portable charger for when you’re on the move, as it takes away the worry of needing to find a charging point.
Love your vids by the way!
At last go myself a charger! :)
Welcome home, Steve. There's no place like it!
Cheers Barney! It wasn't my finest moment, but made for an interesting trip home :D NEVER AGAIN (but of course, that's not true...)
You showed great stamina there Steve. London is a smashing place but add a dose of uncertainty to it and you need to enter into survival mode. After Spain and Gibraltar it must have been some contrast for you. Thanks for sharing
It really was mate! Especially in temperature :D Survival mode indeed!
Thanks so much Cammy! All the best to you out there mate, I don't think I could handle the heat!
@@steve-marsh Go in the depths of winter and the weather is pleasant; anytime from now until February and you might even need a light coat. Even in spring and autumn it's not too bad, plus everywhere has brilliant a/c so you can duck into any shop or cafe and cool off. Just forget June to September as it's like an oven.
I have often spent more flying to a continent than I spend in the first month living on that continent!! I long for the days of ocean going transportation to return ......
Steve, your vlogs are the best because your subscribers and followers know the real skinny about global travel - it's not always fun - you're return trip was so real it brought back memories I had completely forgotten but instantly was reliving them by your candid video - thanks so much for being real! Tom Ruppert from Milwaukee
Thanks so much Tom! I'm glad I kept the camera rolling for the trip home when (I'll be honest) it was very tempting just to switch off :D
Gibraltar has a (relatively) short runway and frequent windshear. Because of that I'd imagine that the airlines discourage their crews from derating the engines much on takeoff.
For BA and EasyJet it’s mandatory to use full thrust
@@apexjailor9349 That makes a lot of sense
@@terryhoath1983 Interesting story, and I couldn't agree more.
Wow the mountain all lite up as you tuck off ,glad your safe .⛵🚂✈️🌹
Cheers Sean!
Fast take off acceleration is due to the runway length. The faster they can get up to V1 / V2 / Rotate speed the more runway distance they have available to abort (And stop in time)
Ahhh good info! Cheers mate!
One wee correction, Steve. That thing you passed in Gibraltar is not very Straight; however, it is the oh, so very Strait of Gibraltar.
PS. I love your videos!
Oh good spot! You'd have thought I'd have picked that one up, but it slid right on through :D
Call me cynical but I think the lack of seating is on purpose to force you into the food and drink establishments in the airport.
I've had a few of those "adventures" in my life and try hard to avoid them now. Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed watching you navigate your way home.
Wise to avoid them! Made for an interesting video, but in realtime, not the best! :D
Thanks for the journey Steve! 👍👍👍👍
You’re very welcome Martin! :)
Thanks, Steve for all your suffering, it was worth it for the video! I'm well past spending all night wandering the streets of London.
Haha I think I am too mate :)
Oh the things you do for you tube steve...amazing to watch...felt so tired for you....well done and thankyou.💤👍😊
Well done getting up to date, and roof certainly more important than my videos :D Wishing you a mild winter if that is even possible? :D
Back in the day, I used to do crazy trips like this but now I need a little comfort and night buses or roaming the streets doesn't fit in to that. Good on you though Steve for having the patience and strength for it 👍👍
Cheers mate! I barely made it through this one, time for a bit more comfort...
So funny you know we were going to stay at that same Novotel and switched at the last minute due to issues.. Kind of glad we did since it seems you had issues as well, Sorry about that Mate ;( Man how are you so still awake with such little sleep argh I'd be dead.. Must be all the Hiking you do building up your stamina haha! Can't wait to see your VA Flight!!
Cheers mate! Yeah, Novotel was not great, but how the dealt with my complaint was really good, and I’ll be giving them another chance in a January video! Seattle trip was great, but tiring doing 2 x10hr flights in 2 days (although I’m sure you’ve done similar!)
21:01 maybe Sunderland going off the hospital sign? Great video as ever Steve!
Cheers George! :)
Very intrepid adventure! You covered up your tiredness well I thought. Great shots of the rock, and realistic view of London.
Cheers Mike! Aye, I got lucky with that departure from Gib being on the right side! :)
Another great film Steve. You are so entertaining and nothing bothers you, like it would me. Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much Mike! I was too tired for ANY emotions!
I’m from Montrose….born and bred…..walks round the beach and to Scurdyness is a favourite. Your travels are fun. I love the sea and ferries. Railway Bridge…Rossie Island and the steeple as you drive into town….beautiful.
Thanks neighbour!
Well documented Video Steve, they are so good!!! I must visit Gibraltar sometime and cross the border into La Linea
Cheers David! A tiring one, but managed to squeeze 3 videos out of it and a wee bit of cash left in my pockets :D
Another great video Steve 👍🏼Much respect to the drivers that do these bus routes 👏🏼
Agreed! I can't imagine doing it once never mind full time!
21:03 I think that is Newcastle- reminds me of the days of riding the M20 London-Glasgow Megabus , what I see around 3 in the morning if it's on time .
Great channel
Steve always enjoyed it I done National express and McLeans to Edinburgh I must try Flixbus. Paul in Kent
Cheers mate, well impressed by Flix!
I’ve never commented on your channel before but I enjoyed this adventure. I like to travel on the cheap but would never be as adventurous as you alone. Bravo ! The video of Gibraltar at sunset must have been pretty amazing to see in person. A
Again, great video. Thanks Steve. A mate of mine in the islands called Maurice (after the singer Maurice Chevalier), used to wonder why the tourists used to marvel at the sheep, sea views and ponies. The commonplace should always be documented for the generations that come after us.. for example ... Montrose?
Good shout! Saving up some local delights for through the winter :)
Good idea, I’ll try to remember to do so in future!
Thanks Steve for another great video. I've spent a fair few of those overnighter bus journeys in my time, plus cold dark train stations forever waiting! Cheers Mate and safe travels.
Cheers Peter! I'm actually starting to quite enjoy the overnight bus, nowhere near as bad as I expected initially :D
Great video! I almost felt sorry for you when you were stumbling around London at 03:00 😀
Haha almost is enough :)
Steve, advice from an Aussie. When it's hot wear short sleeves, light coloured (reflects the heat) and one layer only. Undo the first two buttons, wear a wide brim hat that shades your neck (not baseball), apply sunscreen and carry water.
Wow Steve, I bet crossing back into Montrose really felt amazing after that trip.
Oh it always is :)
I have a friend whose daughter lives in Gib… it was great to see the Rock and what my friends journey looks like!
Once again you put in the hard work to show us the travel experiences & challenges along the way etc so well done & thanks for sharing another great video 👍👍👌👌
Cheers Michael! I was half tempted just to do the travel without filming then was like 'ah what the heck'!
Pretty mammoth journey there Steve. I hope you got plenty of rest once back at home. Thanks for info on Flix buses. Cheers from Oz!
Love your vids. You've inspired me to do a trip on the Aberdeen northlink ferry to Shetland. Overnight there, day on the island and overnight back. Might do a pod, might splash for a cabin.

Wow! That looked and felt both epically amazing and epically painful at the same time. It made for great viewing all the same.
Cheers Tim! Thankfully the memory of the pain fades and only leaves the fun :)
Oh Steve, thanks again for a top video. @17:17 : 7..8..9..10..OUT! 🤣
What strucks me in all three video's is the quietness in the Spanish streets. So few pedestrians.
Was that due to the temperature overthere? Keep up the good work (but first a good night of well deserved sleep)

Very true mate, although often the streets come alive at night, with all generations, really nice to see too
Hi Steve what a journey however I really enjoyed it. The Rock of Gibraltar was so pretty at night.
Oh cheers for the tip, I'll keep that locked away in my mind for the next time... :)
Wow what a journey and that fire alarm in hotel yep I think I would have blown a gasket
You did brilliantly
Love cheap travel journeys! 😄
They always seem more of an adventure then just buying an expensive direct ticket!
Totally agree! Not the most comfortable but they make for a more interesting trip home :)
You help me cope with my (presently impossible!) desire to travel. Thanks!
Thanks Janet! Here's hoping you get some adventures soon!
Wow! What a trip! I can’t imagine thinking you’re about to sleep and be woke up to a fire alarm haha what luck.
Love the hat! 😉 The game is a week from this coming Saturday! This year, you and Alicja have the right gear!
But you do know if I start supporting you guys, it means Michigan will win :D
@SteveMarsh they won last year, sadly. So we could use some Scottish supporters on our side!
Well followed you all the way on your journey and never went to sleep that was some challenge well done 👏
Drove buses and vans all over Europe Steve brings back a few memories love watching your videos
Cheers John!
Why on earth did I not jump on the tube/bus!!?? Idiot! (and nutter) :D

Great video...makes me appreciate British Airways and Caledonian Sleeper.....
Nice airport in Gib, I remember the old one when I lived there in the 1980s, very different but always great for a drink when we welcomed or farewelled friends. Great videos Steve always a pleasure to watch your adventures
As much as I liked it, I would have loved to see the old one!
Well done epic stuff and really enjoyable for me that is
Thanks so much David! Glad I documented the return adventure :)
Cheers Tom! I'll save that McDonalds as a mental note for 'next time'. Oh no, you'd better not watch next week's offering....:D
Thank you for showing the Canadian Embassy.
Finland in December, gosh you're brave 🥶😆
Sounds fantastic! And ohhh Finland in December especially, I'm super jealous!
And he calls himself an Av Geek! haha.
Another brilliant video. The things you do for our entertainment. Looking forward to the next one!
Haha cheers mate :)
Interesting journey. You were even where I work in Fleet Street in the City of London. (Where it was pouring rain) Loved the video.
Haha no way! Cheers mate :)
Thanks a lot! Aye, travel sure can be a bit more tiring these days, but I wish you well with your adventures!
