    As a youngster I was assigned the unenviable task of cutting our lawn with a 1950’s style reel push mower and catcher. Perhaps you can appreciate my elation at getting my hands on the most basic Lawnboy rotary 2 cycle mower. I started an unprofitable lawn mowing service by pricing my services too low just to get the job. I was very impressed with the durability and reliability of this mower. The only problem I had was the debris blocking of the wire mesh air filter. Never did disassemble it properly so only ran intermittently. Eventually the deck broke and that ended my career. I used to clean this reusable filter, sharpen the blade and lubricate the mower. It was so basic you had to rewind the rope manually after every unsuccessful pull.
    I was always amazed and delighted by the modern self propelled mowers with the auto rewind features!

    Thank you for the shoutout! Great video as always - that has to be the biggest oil drain pan I have ever seen also, I still don’t understand how stale gas doesn’t smell horrific to you. Dealing with stale gas is the least enjoyable part of repairing engines to me!

    There is a trend with your repair video. That trend being that you use OEM or quality parts. I have found that OEM parts just work. No poor quality control issues. Also, nice job on taking the time to clean the OEM carb. Some folks might replace it with cheap low quality no name parts. I have found that in general, the cleaned or rebuilt OEM carb with be of higher quality than a no name knock off. Nice job.

    If the carb bolts are installed in sequence with assembly then held up at slight angle it’s really easy to reinstall.
    The blower housing removed makes it even easier.
    Hondas are great mowers.
    Mine after many years of heavy use functions and appears as nearly new. It simply could not start easier or run better with just basic maintenance.

    • @TheLawnmowerLady
      @TheLawnmowerLady  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree, the older Hondas are well designed machines. The only complaint I see regularly (though not experienced myself) is the rocker arms on the valves tend to get bent out of shape, making adjust the valves on GCV 160-190 engines impossible without replacement. Thanks for watchin.

    Yep you gotta contact Brandon to get one of his cable removal tools works 100% in seconds. Don't you hate it when removing the recoil those studs come out instead of the nut loosening off? Seems like the previous person torqued the nuts down with an impact gun i think Nylock nuts with a washer work better never have this issue. 100% a super neglected mower and i think your right the guy picks them off the street gets you to fix them then resells them for a profit. What do you think? Nice job Stella you even got to use it to cut the lawn with it and with a little spit and polish and red spray paint on the faded recoil it would look like new.

    Those studs are a godsend. These carbs are such a pain to reassemble. Why not just leave them in and use nuts? I wanna give you a tip from my world of vintage Triumph motorcycles. I use this stuff called Hylomar M on almost all my gaskets. It usually allows the components to pull apart without damaging the gaskets. It also works good at having questionable gaskets reseal. Or often, no gasket at all.

    • @TheLawnmowerLady
      @TheLawnmowerLady  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good call on the Hylomar. I use Hylomar Blue on my antique Lambretta rebuilds, and it comes in very handy if a bit of gasket material sticks or tears on this lawn/garden equip. Most of the commercial Hondas and some of the newer models do have studs. I think the airbox might need to be modified or swapped out to use studs to keep from warping the airbox. I appreciate you watching. Cheers!

      It's a Pressol 06864 125ml bottle. Readily available in Europe, very rare in North America. Cheers!

    Those stainless rods you got off Amazon, what was the length on them? Or did you have to cut them down?

      @TheLawnmowerLady  ปีที่แล้ว

      I cut one of them in two, cleaned up the threads, and cut a slot with a Dremel tool on one end.

      @@TheLawnmowerLady I use the Dollar Twenty Five Tree equivalent, PineGlo and don’t really measure except by eyeball and color. My original HF ultrasonic died, I bought a Vevor one that I like. Then my daughters bought me another HF one for Father’s Day. I might just keep the new HF as a backup, I hate to take it back because it was from the kids.

    Now, here’s a mystery….with such a poorly maintained mower, you wouldn’t assume that the owner took the time to clean it when putting it away, or taking it for repair. But there is not a blade of grass under the deck…..????? I definitively think he picked this up off the side of the road…..

    • @TheLawnmowerLady

      That too, but I try to show how to DIY repair, not just throw parts at a machine. Some of those cheap aftermarket carbs are hit and miss. That said Honda OEM carbs are surprisingly inexpensive.
