Mick, from age 12 on I worked summers cutting lawns and working at the local hardware store year around part time. What I learned about mowers by using them I applied at the Hardware store to repair other folks machines. That skill carried me through High school and undergraduate studies. When I hit masters level I was too busy to hold the fort on weekends but during a stint at university I worked a summer in a mower shop. The kind of tips you give people could lead to solid job opportunities. It put me through several levels of education. Thanks for what you do it could be a great value to young people who have a touch of ambition! At 82 I'm semi retired from a relatively academic career but I'm still sensitive to a properly tuned engine no matter what its purpose may be! CHEERS!
Not that I have any issues with my mower however thought it’ll be worth watching …. Now I feel well informed should I experience potential mower start issues. Thank you so much as the information you shared only comes from experience. Cheers!
2 years ago I picked up a Honda powered Husqvarna self propelled mower that had this problem for $10 (US) . Took me about 2 hours to find the problem you just fixed. I put a shim onto the V clip to fix it. Keep up the good work over there. Really enjoy your videos. No nonsense - just the facts and how to. Thankx
@@themowerman I just panicked,. especially after being worried I'd added too much Redex last year. Thought I'd knackered the tap. It seems the hose is tired, it's leaking at the joint, so I'll just change that, easy! Cheers again Mick, really looking forward to more of your videos this summer!

I can’t say I’m a big fan of the GC & GCV engines with that cam belt, but they do run well and seem to hold up. Good to see you Mick, cheers my friend.
@@dfields9511 yes unfortunately I know. I’m confident my older Honda mowers and snowblowers will outlast me. Not sure I’d make that claim about the more recent models.
WoW..........after having so much hassle with my mounfield SR100 engine and replacing the Coil, Plug (thanks for the info), Filter, Bulb, Fuel pipe, Carb fully cleaned out, I would never have guessed that problem and the solution, been at it all day and now at 22.30hrs it's too bl""dy late to go and try it 😂. Hurry up Morning, Cheers Mick.......this could be the solution 👍
My lawn went mad from last year because of the growth and the weather was pants and I couldn't cut it until last month 😔. To say it was dam hard work is an understatement. I MAY have over cooked the blade clutch on the Honda mower and she was hunting as well. Anyway I stripped the carb down and cleaned it all including the jets, including the plastic idle/pilot which all came out absolutely fine. Put it all back and she ran fine..... for a few minutes.... and she started hunting again 😔. I will probably have to remove the idle jet AGAIN . I will try to remove it with out taking off the carb. Good tip on the cable/micro.
@@themowerman Thanks I will have a look. It's a model going back to 1997😲, it was in a shed for I don't know how long and I managed to get it going a few years back. Good job mate - Ive also got a 2021 model honda gcv170 rotary 19 inch for the messy jobs prior to finishing off with a 20” Masport cylinder mover……and after a decent winter storage the wax filled capsule on the Honda carby that operates the automatic choke can go bad……… and shes also a no start……..! good to have a spare in the shed for the want of 20 bucks….. all the best from melbourne australia….!!

Mick , I've a snapper self drive mower . Starts and runs fine until I try to cut grass. Boggs down and almost stops the engine . All is cleaned below deck and sharp . New plug /filters and oil . Any idea what is the issue?
Can I ask your thoughts on under deck refurbishment? Have a 3yr old red Cobra 80v mower with steel roller. Steel deck. Have spent the day giving it a really good clean removing some parts. New blade arrived so we should be ready for the new season. The top is still perfect. Underside I’ve noticed the red paint has come away in places and spots of rust developing. Do you wire brush/wet/dry the underside then primer/red topcoat ? Would red hammerite smooth in a spray can be good ? Or would you recommend something else? It’s only 3yrs old but clearly the underside has been put away wet at times? Chap in the local lawnmower shop also said something about coating the underside with some ceramic coating to stop the grass/wet sticking during mowering ? Is this really needed ? Thanks.
Working on a wee TRY3.5SPLMA very hard to start when it finally does start runs smoothly but as you stop it it takes forever to start again.. fitted a different carb & it’s still the same defo beat with this one. Any ideas Mick ?
