6/2016 I woke from a nap and saw I had a missed call and a text on my Iphone 4. I entered my passcode to unlock the screen. My screen didn't unlock. How weird, so I entered my code the 2nd time, nothing again, 3 rd time it went completely black and wouldn't do anything. Cant power it off, cant power it on. So I came to TH-cam and found you!! Im new to Iphone and have no clue about them. I bought a iphone4 because I'm to cheap to buy a 6. I'm a carpenter/ painter, I destroy phones all the time with no intention. Comes with my line of work. So long story short, Thank you Sir, apparently my phone just needed a soft reboot to get me back on my way. Your video showed me just how to do that amongst several other trouble shooting tips that I now have knowledge of because you took the time to make this video. Your very welcome. The 4 I used to make this video had a habit of locking up following an update. The 4S I had after was better. Normally a soft reset is all the phone needs. Take it as a warning though of software issues. I would recommend that you get in the habit of connecting the phone to a computer and making back ups in iTunes. Your next step if the phone will not re boot is to restore the software via iTunes and it helps a lot if the phone has a back up in place. Thanks for the feed back and best of luck fella.

Hi Fred! Just wanted to tell you that I watched you video; and indeed, I fixed my own phone. I'm so proud of myself, I want to cry. I used an eyeglass kit (totally unused until now) to remove the screws. I'm going to order a real kit and get a magnifying glass. It took me forever to get the screws back in. BUT, the phone is ON!!!!! Thank you so much.
oreathiasmith Well done ! Give yourself a good pat on the back ;-). Although the screws are tiny and easy to lose / mix up etc taking these phones apart is not as bad as people think. A proper iphone tool kit is well worth the money.

+fredintheshed1 this is my problem with mine yesterday my phone froze 10 times and csr racing needed an update i deleted a few things to get enough memory but then another game bubble genius i think it was just said waiting on my screen with all the games i have on it and i tried to delete it but it wouldnt delete it then i turned my phone off to c if it would make a difference but now when i turn it on the apple will appear but then it goes off and the slide to unlock screen wont come on anymore does that mean that when bubble genius said waiting underneath it was updating i think i wasnt really sure what was happening do u think turning it off has stopped my phone from working altogether and im just gonna get the apple screen when i turn it on?
+fredintheshed1 plus if u log in to your account on a new phone will it keep all your games and progress on them cause my mom says it should know what youve purchased and downloaded is this true and it will do this if u log in to your account should u have to get a new phone if u use the same simcard or not?
+stuart hough It could be that your phone is running out of memory ? You may have to delete some games. You can see the phones memory usage in "settings"

I totally fixed my blacked-out iphone 4 by following your instructions. I was so disheartened after carefully trying to readjust the connectors as a first step, as I was sure it had nothing to do with the battery connection, but in desperation I reluctantly took the extra step to disconnect the battery for a hard reset and HEY PRESTO! I nearly dropped dead with shock as my phone came to life once again before my very eyes!! Thanks so much!! I'd planned on upgrading, but didn't want to be forced into it just yet. look mate im a 15 year old girl and i did it ten times safer than you did my iphone is completely fucked both back and front cracked on button or home doesnt even work i look off the back using a 50 cent knife with a bent end and it worked fine. apple told me it wouldnt work and id need a new phone i took off the back pressed on the lcd plate waited 30 seconds and it went fine nothing what you said

But my power button is broken
Try connecting to a computer via the usb an performing a itunes back up and restore. This will force the phone to restart and install new software.

Yeah (guess you have done this by now) back up and then restore. You may lose the odd app but the rest should restore ok.

I will explain my situation, its brand new iphone 6s bought a month back. I didn't dropped my iphone, neither hit or pressed the screen so hard that could effect it, I was watching a video while iphone got hang at first while screen was on and my finger touches didn't work, so I thought to restart it but it went blackout! and it got my nerves. And then I tried your suggested solution and thankfully it worked!
It seems to me it is one of the glitches the iphone has and Apple couldn't figure out the solution to curb it till date. Screen getting unresponsive and then blackout has been the problem in iphones since its first device iphone 3Gs, but thanks to youtubers like you who are saving pounds and dollars of panic'ed users like me
Thanks Pritish for the info. I was hoping that by the time apple had got to the 6's this screen blanking would have been fixed but it seems not. I am currently running a 5s and that seems better than the 4 gen.
I was soon nervous and worried when it stopped working but this video helped me learn a lesson and fix my iPod. Thx so much and everything worked out

bro, you saved me a headache and a half. I did just as you did trying to reset, it did not work, but when you showed how to get the battery disconnected, and wala!! it worked. Thanks man, someone texted me and it went black. Had the repair kit at home luckily as my power button is dead for ages I opened it and knew how to redo the battery. Should have known it myself but glad to have had someone say its not dead but just easily solved by using the battery.

Your advice saved me a lot of frustrations when my iPhone's screen went blank after entering wrong passcode several times. The screen went black and blank and was unable to respond to anything after trying to reboot or press home button several times.

Hi, Thanks a lot for this video! It worked just as you say. Unfortunately I had to follow all the steps to the part with the 5 different screws to get to display connector. Nicest click I heard recently!
Since I'm not that good at drawing as you I put the open iPhone in my copy machine and punched the five screws through the paper copy to locate the right spot.
You helped me out a lot! I just love my old 4s.
