      Hello there I would like to get a hold of you about a part that I cannot find on my iphone 5s. I am trying to order the front facing camera but need the ground sticker that sits on the metal on the back of the display. this thin copper piece ripped as I was pulling the digitizer off. Do you know what piece I am talking about and can you help me find it. Everything I look for on ebay does not show the ground sticker. I would be greatly appreciative. Thank you!!!

    the phone was dropped onto a wood floor from the kitchen counter. a good three piece case was on the phone but still suffered damage. screen diddnt break just went blue with a few verticle lines. apple store told me motherboard was bad, wife had no confidence on the screen swap as the old one wasnt broke but i had to try it. proved them all wrong. thanks again.

    From what I gather your name is Zack. I would like to thank you, from one man to another, Z or JerryRigEverything, whoever you may be. My name is Dylan, and I just used your incredibly helpful tutorial to switch my main board out from my GSM model into a CDMA body that had been lying unused for years after I completely annihilated both front+back, and some innards of my 4s by taking a fall playing with my five year old son this past weekend at the park. You have saved me so much time money and stress as well as giving me a way to make sure this single parent can face time with little Dylan and tell him "I love and miss you" every night. I am so grateful. Thank you so much!

    Jerry Nice! Worked like a charm. I ordered the recommended tools and screen. Dismantle took just seven minutes...Putting it back together took like 2hrs...ouch! With a few more tools I'm sure I can do this in 15 mins.
    My first problem was unscrewing the two thicker screws on the main board. No tool in the kit would fit right so I had to search around my house until I found a normal sized flat head tweaker (Eyeglass tweaker) to remove them.
    Second road bump was not being able to see the technique you used to put the side screws and washers back in. I found it really time consuming and with the magnetized bits the 6 tiny washers and 6 tiny screws kept fighting each other. Even after I got it in...I would try to turn the bit and the magnet would pull the screw off to the side of the bit head.
    So I'm adding these Items to my multi-use screen repair toolkit (in addition to Olympia Tools 88-670 iWork you recommended). Tweezer, flat head tweaker set (Magnetized), A set of NON magnetized phillip and flat head tweakers (This will make the 6 side screws and washers much easier to put back in after setting them in the screw hole with the tweezers.), LED Lamp, cheap LED DSLR video light (The lamp is good for when you pick up the iphone - The DSLR light can be used with the base from a speedlite, it's adjustable, and great for when you have the iphone on the table.)
    Thanks Jerry!
    SG

    Hey man good video. Found you from Reddit.
    Just a couple things I noticed. You don't have to remove those screws on the side completely to get the screen off. It's actually more of a pain to get them back in. Just a turn and a half and the screen comes right off.
    Second, you didn't replace the adhesive you removed under the lcd assembly. It's not terribly necessary but it makes it a more quality repair.
    Keep it up!

    Video and instruction was AWESOME!! Anyone looking to attempt this fix heed his recommendation..... use the screw chart to keep track of everything. Bring up this video and use Play/Pause to go through the procedure. Plan 2 hours.
    I did have one casualty... tore one of the ribbon cables on my new screen. Although it didn't appear to be at first, it got pinched when I slid them through onto the phone during reassembly (pay attention at 4:25 - 4:45 in the video).

    I have to say thank you...Thank you! I fixed my phone about a week ago and another one about a minute ago. Tutorial and PDF chart worked like a charm. I have three tips for the folks doing this:
    Go slowly and listen to what Jerry has to say. I wish I did the first time around in parts like 5:26. One of the cables got trapped under the main board and I had to disassemble it and fix it.
    Invest in a good magnetic screwdriver and non-magnetic screwdriver. There are times where one or the other are beneficial. I have a great screwdriver made by the "Teeny Turner" company.
    Lastly, use tweezers or needle-nose pliers. They make everything so much easier.
    Thanks again! I'll be back.

    sweet tutorial, thanks for not making me watch while you unscrewed all the screws. the Parts Chart is pure genius. a couple of things I had difficulty with, that maybe a smarter person wouldn't... the ribbon connectors from the new screen put up a small struggle when feeding thru the phone. I didn't realize they weren't all the way thru and had to backtrack. The ribbon connectors on the side of the main board like to flop under the mainboard. that small one ended up underneath after the screws were in... I had to backtrack again. surprisingly, it seems to be working. thanks, saved me 50 bucks.

There were a few "doo dads" left over and I didn't have a clue! I wish I had the PDF from the get go. Anyway, the video still helped. I was missing some screws and had none for the outside of phone. I made sure it worked and it did! so I just glued the phone together(I will get my 5s repaired soon.) I just needed the phone for taking pics on ebay. This is an awesome help. I broke a cable on the digitiser first time but it's all working now with a second attempt. Thank goodness for the parts chart to keep track of all those incredibly tiny screws. Good job Jerry!

    Very good video. Thanks :)
    Don't forget the little bras by the camera. It's held down by the screw under the black tape.

    That was very clear - I've just cannibalized two iPhone 4s' to create a working one and have just plugged it in to charge.
    The only suggestion I'd make is that you make a point of mentioning which screws go where as you disassemble - there are at least three screw sizes and types and I got a bit confused when I put it all back together again. Otherwise incredibly clear. Thanks!

    • @JerryRigEverything
      @JerryRigEverything  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good suggestion. Did you use the screw chart i made? It was supposed to help keep things organized.

    • @chriscollins3531
      @chriscollins3531 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, sadly - no access to a printer. I did have a clear table top with various containers for the parts from each phone and was able to keep track of what I was doing.
      Two problems I had. The first was that I broke one of the screw mounts on the motherboard fire the charging port connector shield and then couldn't figure out which screw held the other end of the bracket in place so it's presently floating slightly loosely in place.
      The second was that I couldn't seem to find the small bracket that goes under the battery plate so had to do without it. Are either of these things liable to overheat the phone? I'm keeping an eye on it.

    This comment is super late to the party, but it’s incredible how the iPhone 7 and modern phones have much simpler components in them. This looks like a nightmare to repair. Anyways great video! I will be using this to see if I can replace a battery in one of my old iPhone 4s.

    Thank you very much for your video. It worked perfectly, except that there's a part left, that I don't know where it goes and it's not even on your parts chart pdf. I remember that this part came off when I took the battery off, but I don't know where it's going now. There's letters and numbers at the bottom of the part: HF/e1.
