Gear ratios seem a bit too short in 4th/5th maybe even in 2nd by like 5%
They need to keep making them like the Blobeye STI.
Doug Demuro love or hate him has a legit point that older STI's are more fun to drive because of the way theyre made.
I dont know why people hate so much on this car. This is how Subaru tries to make a car that is sporty and has comfort at the same time. I think its perfect for a young person.
overpriced for majority of the people who don't need awd. 305 translates to peak 260-270hp on dyno after losses. non linear throttle response. need work done that void warranty just to drive the way it's meant to be driven. cheap interior trims and poor infotainment system. mechanical systems doesn't give you smooth driving experience with non linear clutch. you pay extra for spoiler delete (what). big spoiler does what smaller spoiler could do. fuel mileage is just abysmal. constantly understeers if you don't know how to ease throttle while cornering. for the money still don't offer adjust damp make my SO hate the ride. sound system subpar as well. young person cannot afford this car, they give up their freedom and pay extra to lease it to have the lifestyle now and postpone their future financial progress.
But we love the rumble.

Antonio Jr. Fabon The 2018 model not yet sir. But saving money to get one and I'm so close. I'm planning to buy right it right of the bat no monthly payments bullshit. I currently own a 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX. It's white and has black rims. And I got rid of that ugly factory radio and put a aftermarket touch screen and my windows are tinted 35 percent in the back rear window and 2 back windows and the 2 front 50 percent and a 7 inches tint strip front windshield on top 15 percent. Love it. Been having it since 2014. Now time to upgrade.
Evan Faraday I'd recommend either saving for the 2020 redesign or get a used 2015-2017. You'd save a few grand that way. Also, if you plan on getting another white one the dealerships usually won't budge on the price because they know some rich kid will pay it. I ended up with a black 17 STI but I was originally looking into buying a used white 17 STI with 10K miles. They wouldn't budge on 38K and it was literally sitting right next to two brand new STIs with the 36K sticker. I offered 34K cash and they still didn't even come back with a lower counter. Best of luck!
You can see the adaptive headlights work. That’s so cool. Subaru STIs might be old school but they’re still the best value for the money out there.

Nice car bought mine a few weeks back, and yes it does rumble from 1st to 4th gear noticeably...wrx on the other hand does not rumble, I’ve driven both that’s y I paid the extra for the STi
ya the wrx doesn't rumble but still has a pretty pleasant sound tbh...just not the typical subie rumble

Update one year later,
I have owned a 16 sti for about 3 months now. It's not so vacuum like, the sound is good. I went ahead and did the exhaust despite it being nice. It's the only thing changed so far. The car is awesome and I love every drive. Now about that dinosaur of an engine... not old and arthritic dinosaur, but rather a large, powerful and angry beast that stalks its prey.

Still one of the world's best A to B as quick as you can cars. Shame about the outdated powertrains, bank-breaking fuel economy & holy WTF insurance premiums.
Trades46 the insurance is absolutely killer. I’m actually in the process of trying to decide between an RS and STi. I’m about positive I’m gonna end up going with the RS, and a huge reason behind that is the insurance. I have a Focus ST right now and the insurance isn’t too bad, obviously it goes up with the RS but the quote I got for the STi is absolutely absurd.

To go from my Focus ST to an STI raised my insurance 5 bucks, my wifes WRX is 20 bucks lower than my ST was

The lit up buttons on the steering wheel look cool. But the rest of the dash is very old school for me.
I guess a lot of people who buy these want that traditional dash. But maybe a lot are also forced to have it because they like how the car drives and the exterior looks. Hard to tell.
im actually fine with the dash but dont like the red lights or the steering wheel button lights or the steering wheel period, the interior still needs s little work in my opinion.
nah, just not keeping up with the times. The WRX is so dated in every day. Powertrain, technology, interior, etc.

Some people care more about the driving experience than the tech... I'm one of those people, and I have to say it's nice to see a car which is supposed to be a driver's car, that isn't filled with bright screens, and touch controls everywhere to distract you from driving and squeeze every last bit out of your wallet.

Ey so i think i can hear it in your video.. is there a spinning buzzing decel noise during high rpm up shifting? My 19 sti has that noise and its driving me nuts unlike the 16 wrx i used to have.

The rumble is actually not there. 2015+ models come with Equal Length headers, so you won't hear the typical subaru rumble sound made by the uel headers!

Phase Separation Science if the engines warm it’s not gonna do any damage. 5k isn’t very high. I drive an 06 Sti and that thing loved the higher rpms.

Midwest Mopars nothing wrong with turbos, it almost always comes down to the owner, how they drive, and maintainence. Rarely is there a defect in modern turbo vehicles that result from the turbo itself.
Midwest Mopars Turbos are fine. My turbo engine lasted 118,000 miles before I totaled it lol
Why would anyone buy this? You can get a E60 M5 for much less price, the awesome RWD, the 500HP, the CRAZY comfort which the 2018 Subaru still doesn't have and has that stupid plastic everywhere....
