  • Early on Friday morning, the lifeless body of Nwode Sunday, a 19-year-old suspected of vandalism, was discovered near a transformer owned by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company on Missionary Avenue, Coal Camp, Enugu. Reports suggest he was electrocuted while allegedly tampering with the transformer, possibly due to power restoration. Few have escaped the detrimental impact of vandals targeting public infrastructure.

    CCTV is not overtly expensive
    They should invest in it.
Also who will punish offenders when the power that be are not clean themselves. So it’s a merry go round situation

This is economy crime, in some countries like south africa it attract life imprisonment.
Copper price in the world market is on high side, therefore few kilos of copper wire worth alot to scrap metal exporters.
Peter Mbah need to take this underground business serious otherwise it will cost the state alot of money to replace stolen assets. And he need to identity who are the metal scrap dealers in the enugu, to ascertain who buy the stolen electric cables and metals. And sad part is, these scraps metal dealers don't pay tax on millions they earn, because they are not registeted.
This victim is not an electrician, he is just a scrap metal prospector, an electrician will not touch a transformer unit he /she don't have conttrol over the switch at the control station.
He gamble badly and pay the price
