- You must have been familiar with Nigeria’s first military coup of January 15, 1966, which was carried out by Major Kaduna Nzeogwu and his military colleagues. However, within that coup, there was another coup - the Aguiyi-Ironsi coup of January 16, 1966.

Good work
Thank you.
This January 16 "coup" is very similar to the Abacha "coup" in November 1993. Depends on how you see it:
Armed Military men surrounding Ministers requesting transfer of power to The Military.
If you see that Abacha takeover from ING as a coup, i think this Aguiyi-Ironsi takeover should also be tagged a coup (to some extent).
Brilliant submission. All military takeovers in Nigeria were coups.
Wasn’t the date January 15 1966
Details matter
@@SupremeBros2012 thats the thing.
Everybody knows of the January 15 coup but few know of the circumstances around Ironsi assuming office as Head of State.
That takeover of power is the January 16 coup mentioned. Ironsi essentially intimidated the Council of Ministers whilst the building was surrounded with armoured vehicles and soldiers requesting transfer of power. That is a Coup D'etat.
If you're attempting to discuss Ironsi's take over after the coup then let it be so. Ironsi DID NOT participate in the coup, in fact he was s target that escaped out of sheer luck. Kindly fix the title please 🙏🏾
Fajuyi was aware of it
@@khalidbashir4017 according to the coup guys from July 29 rematch, they believe Fajuyi was very much aware of the Jan 15 coup and supported it.
@@mr7teen922 yep Ademoyega also wrote that in his book that Fajuyi is aware and he did all he could to stop the Supreme Military Council from even discussing their prosecutions. Walbe and Danjuma said he (Fajuyi) was the priority target above Ironsi
@@khalidbashir4017 true. Max Siollun made same statements in his book "Oil, Violence and Politics".
What kind of misleading headline is this please..
Don't mind the charlatan historian spilling rubbish
Your account of the killing of the Premier is false. One of the soldiers that went with Kaduna Nzeogwu is still alive today. Do not copy and paste from people or sources that are agendists inclined...

@@CHARLESBECHIKAS22-gk9xy whats their story of how it happened?
This is a misleading title and one that could justify wrongfully the Northern carnage of the July 29 1966 counter coup. If you are trying to bridge the gap that Aguiyi Ironsi was part of the January 1966 coup with this content, I would have to advise you to issue a retraction of your title and please stop promoting content that would stir up emotions 😡😡😡
Very misleading
The storyline is accurate...
@@ibrahimshehukorrect3949 what do you know? Still bias about the Ibo’s Ibrahim Shehu.
I know enough,,, am not biased and I don't do blame games
History revisionism. Thats what your title is.
Aguiyi Ironsi never planned any clip. Lies.
Please kindly change the title of this video content or i will report this channel to TH-cam
Seconded
😂😂😂😂truth hurts right
@@qadarsaeed Can you define truth with propaganda?
