Totally agree with comment below if u want to start a G-Shock collection A MUST IS THE GWM5610U as your first then maybe a G2100 range for ani-digi piece then go from there.... Great review great choice...
I have the DW5610 and the basic CasiOak and they're both PERFECT daily watches and also have a good price. I just can't imagine having a watch and not having one of those. What's also good is that even though they're gonna last forever, you can actually easily change their casings and straps and there are many parts to buy online. Long live G-SHOCK!
Besides of other Casios i have the GW-M5610U (i swapped the Resin to stainless steel case and bracelet). That great watch and my Citizen Promaster Diver NY0085 are my favorite daily beaters. And this year i'm looking foward to the new GBM-2100A in blue.
Excellent list Teddy. I have the Square of course , but also have a GG-1000 Mudmaster, a great watch to bring mountaineering plus a simple ana-digi GA-700 red that's a fun summer watch. My favourite though is the Mission Impossible DW-290 1VS, though not quite a G-Shock, it's very sturdy, it's a fantastic quirky looking one with electro luminescent screen, 200m water resistance and to add some coolness, worn by Tom Cruise in the first M I movie.
I was issued the DW-6600 by the military back in 2009. I still have it and I love it. It's DW6900 is great but if you want the same one in a solar version with radio controlled time keeping then I definitely recommend the Casio GW-6900.
I have a classic 5600 blacked out negative display ... And a Casiooak in gray (the one shown in the video) ... Love them ... Wearing my Casual right now.
Clear winner 5610 The screen is the most confortable out of all of them. Can hold to times zones at the same time and you can see the time while in stopwatch Arguably the most confortable out of them all. Its just the right fit, and its light. I find it more confortable personally than an f91 +20 year battery through tough solar Multiband 6 is my favourite function. Always on time, grab it and put it on. I love the red circle that surrounds the screen, its the best looking for me. It looks like the oldschool cheap casios but in premium. 6900 has a smaller screen and worse functionality all round. Its just for the nostalgic style Casioaks are for posers, casio is about digital, this is a gimmick. its a nice addition but not amain piece.
G-shocks are the reason I got into watches. I only got it because I thought it'd be nice to have as a cook, that way I didn't have to keep reaching for my phone. Cooking is also the reason why I like wearing my watch military style
Teddy. You are the best resource I’ve seen online. Very balanced. Great presentation skills and very objective. You have become a worldwide reference in watches . Thank you for the content
Both Bamford G-Shocks are incredible. I love them and wear my Bamford Big G all the time. I also have a sand colour 2100 which is another easy, light and cool daily.
This is a rabbit hole 🕳️!!!!!! 😂 However on that note… I love my GMW-B5000 it’s all metal has a great combination of brushed and polished stainless steel its a great looker and gets a lot of compliments, I have too many now to mention lol Casio overall has an incredible influence with certain watch collectors as they have so many crazy models!! Really an incredible history too. Thank you for this video🎉❤
Yes, the GMW-B5000 is sweet. A few weeks ago was the first time my watch ever started a conversation. Between that and a GM-B2100, I think I'm done. Please, let me be done! 😂
G-Shocks make up most of my collection. They’re largely cheap enough for a (relatively) guilt-free impulse buy, and the variety of colors makes them fun to collect. The 5000U-1JF sees the most wrist time for me
i would also recommend the GA-110. Highly affordable in the used market, two LCDs and analogue display, in a chunky case with buttons which can be pushed while wearing gloves.
In my collection of numerous Swiss timepieces, there is still a special place for my DW-5040PG-1 from the 40th Anniversary. Love it for a simple, no frills carry.
Teddy, you haven't mentioned about the GD-400. A g-shock with bull bars! It is highly resistant to impacts and crashes. An underrated g-shock model on the sidelines.
To considering with CasiOak friends: I just sold my black CasiOak because of minute index. It’s a beautiful watch but hard to read correctly.Maybe it’s my job’s reason(police),I need good visibility of dial. But my wife’s pink CasiOak doesn’t have this issue,I read the time well! So I bought a square,it can show the day/date&time by a peek.
My single issue with the digi Gshocks is that such a small percentage of the display indicates the time. For wrist-distance reading I need my reading glasses, which I only wear when reading. So I opted for a non GShock Casio for gym/yardwork with a larger time display. Still great.
For the absolute clarity of it, I would mention the GD-010 series. IMHO it resembles a G-Shock version of the AE1500WH which I have 3 models of. The screen could NOT be more clear. Just a stunning G-Shock. Also, LOVE the MIP display in the GBD-200. If you don't have one of these, GET ONE or 4. That's usually what happens, right? We get 1 and then another and before you know it? You have MANY of them. Thank you, Casio for so many affordable choices for us.
I bought a 5611 from you guys and I’m enjoying it very much. I love the shape of the case and the all black look. I did discover it is darker IRL than in the photos at least indoors but since it has a backlight no big deal. 😊
One that never gets mentioned is the AWG series. Pretty solid watches with MB6, solar, world time, and all the other functions of a traditional g shock but with analog dial. I got the one with the combi bracelet when I was in Tokyo last year and it’s a daily wear for me. Can do just about anything with it besides formal dress.
Contemplating whether to start collecting G's? Some people will be polite and call it collecting, those of us down that rabbit hole will admit it's a disorder. You've been warned!
In the video I would separate the options as the two bookends, 5600 [square] and 2100 [CasiOak], as the 'standard' options and the ones in the middle as the 'high utility' choices. I'm a 'low utility' person, the most intense stuff I do is racket sports, so the standard options suit me perfectly. But for the more intense needs, it's hard to top the others. Enjoy, and good luck pacing yourself.
I've been looking at the land and sand one.. Well there are 4 or 5 different ones, but the one I'm looking at is model - GWB5600SL-4.... What drew me to this one was the multi-band 6 Bluetooth and all the bells and whistles that all the other G socks have.... not really sure about the material build of it I don't think it has like Titanium or anything in it but for a good rounded G-Shock Square, this discontinued line of them were brought to the Forefront when I was doing my searches over the last month or so.... but like you said here are the 5600 series seems to be the go-to for the newest and greatest... I just honestly like having the option of having Bluetooth and the multiband for the time setting plus I believe you can use the Bluetooth to set some of the parameters if you don't want to mess with the watch itself and being I'm an older gentleman it does help with that because my eyes are not getting any younger😂
Just bought the Rose Gold GM-B2100GD-5AER for 70% off (€179 about $200) at a luxury store (Bijenkorf The Hague) in the Netherlands, that was a bargain had to buy it. Wasn't even searching for a G-Shock my wife noticed this low price. Love the watch.

IMO the square case Japanese made G-Shocks with screw back cases are the ones to have. I bought a DW-5035d new around 6 years ago and never considered another G-Shock since. Probably my favorite digital watch I own.
One of your finest videos yet. Love looking at multiple options of the same model/family, especially when there are many. Straightforward, to the point. Great work Teddy.

I’m a budget/value buyer. I have a few Seikos and Citizens. They’re all great. But I love my G-Shock, too. It’s the only watch that caused my son to say, “Cool watch, Dad!”.
The 5000u, the ultimate square, made in Japan with a steel case encased with rubber like shell, solar, atomic, 200M, lights up with wrist tilt, … I believe in 2024 their finest. Great summary! I Have Rolex, UN, many others, but honestly prefer my care free G-Shocks after 50 years of watch collecting. They have never needed service! Even the non solar only a battery change every decade I can do myself. Just Awesome!
I purchased a GA-B2100 in Japan this year and took advantage of the stronger dollar getting it for around $116. With the Casioak style and bluetooth/solar combo, this thing is a beast.
DW5900. My watch as a kid on early 90s and got me into watches. Only wish they would make a Tough solar version, and maybe a GW or GM5900 with metal casing and better strap.
Sitting here wearing a GM5600, had a GMW-B2100 on earlier today. Wanting to get away from the 'nerdy' look of the resin models, my two main versions are a full-metal square [GMW-B5000] and full-metal Casioak [GM-B2100]. The biggest challenge was deciding that the negative display is fine. With the Tough Solar, there is no battery life issue to worry about when using the light.
I love my Gs. I buy the ones that show the tide cycles. If you live in a coastal area this is super useful. Bonus because they are affordable and really last a long time. Go for the solar to extend that life even further. 😀
I always think the GA 700 is overlooked. It is big and bold and is almost a mudmaster at ¼ the price. I do also own a gg-1000 Mudmaster as a favourite watch that I love and a 5600 as a more work watch. The GA 700 has a really nice world time function and is pretty loaded. You don’t get the compass and barometer type features of the Mudmaster, or the meatal push buttons. But it is a super nice tough watch, I really like the lower middle light button. I have the blue with silver indices and hands but there is almost an unlimited variety of colour styles.
⌚ G-2900. The Best of ALL G-Shocks. It's a shame they don't make a refreshed version of this model G-2900 with only improved parameters. 😔 The same apllies to G-100 YELLOW version‼ I'am STILL waiting
I have a GWM5610u, DW6900 and DW9052, and am just waiting for a GA2100 or GM2100 with positive display and more legible hands and indices. The GM2100C-5A is almost perfect, but I want the regular resin straps, not NATO-style nylon straps. They seem to release new models everyday, so I figure it's only a matter of time.
I’ve a Casioak, 5600, 6900 & a GA2000. Easiest to live with and use is the GA2000. Casioak is a pain to adjust time when we lose/gain a hour. Took it to USA hols from UK and can’t get the thing back to real UK time😂 I’ve also a Timex Ironman that is same level as G-shock in my humble opinion.

So I use my solar/atomic watches as a time standard so I know I have the right time. Always.
Which one do you use?
@@tonyp.bahama9368I have 6. A GW-9400, GW-7900, GW-6900, 2 GW-M5610Us (positive and negative display) and a GW-2310. Just got one more on the way. I rotate through them.
My GMW-B5000-9ER has been on my wrist pretty much 24/7 since I got it 5 years ago, absolutely love it.
Gbd200 is also a stunner with the MIP negative display and larger digits
I'm with you on the 5600/2100 pairing.
Clear winner 5610
The screen is the most confortable out of all of them. Can hold to times zones at the same time and you can see the time while in stopwatch
Arguably the most confortable out of them all. Its just the right fit, and its light. I find it more confortable personally than an f91
+20 year battery through tough solar
Multiband 6 is my favourite function. Always on time, grab it and put it on.
I love the red circle that surrounds the screen, its the best looking for me. It looks like the oldschool cheap casios but in premium.
6900 has a smaller screen and worse functionality all round. Its just for the nostalgic style
Casioaks are for posers, casio is about digital, this is a gimmick. its a nice addition but not amain piece.
Love the watches listed here 👌my favourites listed here have to be the 5600/5610 line and 6900 💯I own a GW-M5610U and DW-6900U myself.
Wearing my 5610, a great holiday watch. 200m WR too 👍
Me 5040 pg xd
In the last year I have picked up all those models plus a couple others.
You need to make a follow-up video regarding the MR-G series.
Love the G-Rescue in black /red accent, bold and very legible, big back-light button. 2nd fave…yes …the 5610, but buttons are small.
I have the Oak in Green and it is sooo amazing to wear. Love it as much as my Pelagos 39 or my Grand Seiko SBGA415…
Have been a proud owner of the GW2310 (with silver and red details) for many years. Love my G-Shock.
Both Bamford G-Shocks are incredible. I love them and wear my Bamford Big G all the time. I also have a sand colour 2100 which is another easy, light and cool daily.
This is a rabbit hole 🕳️!!!!!! 😂
However on that note…
I love my GMW-B5000 it’s all metal has a great combination of brushed and polished stainless steel its a great looker and gets a lot of compliments, I have too many now to mention lol Casio overall has an incredible influence with certain watch collectors as they have so many crazy models!! Really an incredible history too. Thank you for this video🎉❤
Yes, the GMW-B5000 is sweet. A few weeks ago was the first time my watch ever started a conversation. Between that and a GM-B2100, I think I'm done. Please, let me be done! 😂
Just got one a few weeks ago. Love it
I also love my G-7900. Got it second hand for close to nothing, and I really like the big buttons, 2 stopwatches, and moon phase information.
Just bought an MRG for my 30th birthday, unbelievable. Better than watches double the price, just love it!!!
"An MRG" and "double the price" are scary phrases in the same sentence. 😂
@@UnconventionalReasoning haha true!!
G-Shocks make up most of my collection. They’re largely cheap enough for a (relatively) guilt-free impulse buy, and the variety of colors makes them fun to collect. The 5000U-1JF sees the most wrist time for me
Agree.
Unless you also collect GShock MRG series 😩
i would also recommend the GA-110. Highly affordable in the used market, two LCDs and analogue display, in a chunky case with buttons which can be pushed while wearing gloves.
I purchased my first ever G-Shock last year - I got the MR-G Titanium Limited Edition and i love it!
I have the G shock Gw6900, dw9052-1vwt, Gw 2310fb-1, Gd 350 and GW7900. Love them all!!!!
I have ten gshocks but the one I grab everyday is the gw-5000u. My favourite by a clear mile
To considering with CasiOak friends:
I just sold my black CasiOak because of minute index. It’s a beautiful watch but hard to read correctly.Maybe it’s my job’s reason(police),I need good visibility of dial.
But my wife’s pink CasiOak doesn’t have this issue,I read the time well!
So I bought a square,it can show the day/date&time by a peek.
Got my 5610 from you last week!
My single issue with the digi Gshocks is that such a small percentage of the display indicates the time. For wrist-distance reading I need my reading glasses, which I only wear when reading. So I opted for a non GShock Casio for gym/yardwork with a larger time display. Still great.
I love the G-Shock Coverage, awesome video TB!!
Casio G-Shock Mudman G-9000-1VDR. 👍🏼 I like the squares too.
The one I wear for work is the DW5600 and for the weekends I have the metal version GMW-B5000D. Love them both.
G shock Rangeman is a classic
I bought a 5611 from you guys and I’m enjoying it very much. I love the shape of the case and the all black look. I did discover it is darker IRL than in the photos at least indoors but since it has a backlight no big deal. 😊
I have 2 in my collections. GW-1000U - the JDM version and Casio Protrek series. Both tough solar.
Well this is a perfect video. I’ve just begun contemplating wether to start collecting G-Shocks; thanks for the guide Teddy!
Omg be careful it’s soooo addictive too!!! 😂
Wat een deal!
Laatste exemplaar?
@@e28forever30 Ja, maar ligt er nog 1tje bij de Bijenkorf Rotterdam, maar weet niet of dat ook voor €180 is. Ik heb hem gekocht bij de Bijenkorf in Den Haag.
Every watch person needs to have a G-shock; ultimate tool watch. Takes a beating like no other.
There is nothing like a large G-Shock for presence. I totally love them.
just bought my first G Shock, the black AWG-100, after reading up on atomic timekeeping I had to have it, so cool
Have a base black 2100 and a blue metal 2100 but FWIW that came on a rubber strap too. Both are GREAT travel watches when you may want something less flashy. Also just added an Ed Sheeran 6900, great option if you want a little more color. And again, all very reasonably priced.
I like the GA2100 and I mix/ match the dials and cases. I’m wearing a translucent case/strap with GITD dial.
You really can't beat a G-Shock, great watches and virtually indestructible. Two models not featured in the video but that i can highly recommend are the MTG-3000BD and the GMW-B5000GD-9ER
Absolutely love my 5610 wear it most days. Interval timer in the gym, smart enough with jeans and t shirt.
On the lookout for a 2100 that grabs me.
LOVE g shocks. True beaters that can go with you almost anywhere. Love the tough solar series
DW5900. My watch as a kid on early 90s and got me into watches. Only wish they would make a Tough solar version, and maybe a GW or GM5900 with metal casing and better strap.
I have a red Casioak and yellow-black Rangeman. I love them both.
Wearin my 5040PG here xd
@@yorusuyasoul69420 Nice! It took a while to realize the "40" in "5040" is for the 40th Anniversary release.
@@UnconventionalReasoning yes indeed
Agreed. Love my GMW-B5000
I love my Gs. I buy the ones that show the tide cycles. If you live in a coastal area this is super useful. Bonus because they are affordable and really last a long time. Go for the solar to extend that life even further. 😀
I have the white GBX-100, love it, sunrise/sunset, tides and dual time zone 👍
The new GR-B300 gets no love anywhere. It's such an amazing watch.
A G-Shock is essential for any collection, even if just to wear when doing outdoor sports/hiking etc.
The Rangeman GPR-H1000-1JR is my pick if you are okay with the size. Does everything you would want from a watch.
I started with the 5610 and it is my most used watch period.
I love my GW-M5610U! It's the #1 GADA watch I recommend to everyone and especially "non-watch" people.
I'll go for the DW-5600e, it's certified by NASA for space flight onboard the Space Shuttle and the ISS.
⌚ G-2900. The Best of ALL G-Shocks.
It's a shame they don't make a refreshed version of this model G-2900 with only improved parameters. 😔
The same apllies to G-100 YELLOW version‼ I'am STILL waiting
One slept on pick is the G-5600UE: non-MB6 (but still solar) version of the 5610 that has a much less cluttered design and is half the price.
Took it to USA hols from UK and can’t get the thing back to real UK time😂
I’ve also a Timex Ironman that is same level as G-shock in my humble opinion.
