I have a couple of models with a smaller form factor like the MTG-M900 and the G300 Street Rider. I believe they are older designs as they are really difficult to come by now. Such an iconic, stealthy and timeless design.
I have a DW-9052, as well. It was my brother's old watch, but he's letting me hold onto it. Had to replace the bezel, bezel studs, spring bar, and battery, but it still works after 15+ years. The point is, pick a gshock with the most appealing features for your lifestyle and off you go!
I love Casio, and especially G-Shock. My first and only G-Shock is the gw-m5610. I got it about 2 years ago, and I use it almost daily. Its solar battery and extreme accuracy have made it THE time/day/date reference for every other watch/clock in the house. As interesting as their other references are, I won't be needing another G-Shock for 10-15 years (unless I take up some mud related sport/job haha.)
Excellent list of 5! My personal favorite at the moment is the bright red G7900 with moon and tide data. That GBD200 looks awesome too. Thanks for the vid 😀
I've refurbished my GW-M5600 which I've worn for 13 years now and it looks brand new again. Didn't need another one. For me It's still the best and most durable watch I can think of. I bought a GBD-200 1er yesterday, and it's beautiful! I don't think I'll ever use the smart functions (saves a lot of battery) but it's absolutely worth the buy! Had to get it when I saw it.😁
I have trouble getting into the DW5600 because of the Adjust button. It's recessed and on the left side of the case so changing anything is a pain. I love my GD-350 and think it's a better King G-Shock. I also really like my GA-800 ana-digi because it is a super legible 3-hander with a positive STN display and dual LEDs. As long as you can get over the gas mask look I think it's a great contender for all-rounder.
At first I was skeptical about the G-9000, after numerous reviews warning about its hard to press buttons. But now that I own it, I wouldn't have it any other way. They constantly remind of the Mudman's sturdiness and safety, which in turn gives me a peace of mind no other watch in my collection can provide. Since I was missing a green G-Shock anyway, I snagged the one from your video for 77€. For that price the functionality it offers in combination with its protective qualities, the G-9000 is second-to-none. Not only is it a great stopwatch, it also has world time, DST and 4 alarms.
Love Crete! We stayed at Koutouloufari near Piskopiano. Hired a quad and visited the Monastery Panagia Kera Kardiotissa, Psychro Cave and Rosa's Gorge - Gorgeous.
Anybody knows any else of casio watch that have interval timer feature? Just like in casio sport watch RFT-100 (referee soccer watch) it has 9 interval timer, I use it for my weight lifting exercise, so helpful. 30second workout then 1minute resting.. So I have 5 set of that
Nice video about G-Shock. I hava always been a Casio fanboy. 1989 i bought a square G-Shock, about 5 years ago i bought a G-Shock mudmaster triple sensor. 2020 because of the pandemi i bought a white(i work in the medial Sector) Casioak. And 2021 i got a G-Shock Mudman in birthday present from my wife. So i have four G-Shocks it is more than enough for me. I must have time to enjoy them, and my other watches too.
I’ve got the same Gshock about 4-5 times. My first one I gave to my brother when he became a police officer and it still works as the day I got it. I’ve then gotten the same model as gifts for family and friends. Best watch I’ve owned in regards to durability and function.
I spent the last few months watching watch content and learning about things, find it all very enjoyable as infotainment. At the end of the day only thing I purchased was the GSHOCK GAB 2100. It's so good i feel little desire to buy other watches...
I got a W-218H the other day, it’s like a cheap mini G-Shock. It’s $16, it’s square, it’s a little thinner and smaller than the G-Shock. I got an army green version the band has a bit of texture which I love.
I have to agree Russel the GBD-200 display is bonkers, incredibly readable even from the moon (assuming you have a decent enough telescope and you're not on the wrong side of the planet). The 5610 is probably my favourite though (bonded with this one during a couple of surgeries in hospital a few years ago, this one will never be sold) ahead of my full metal 5000's and the resin 5600's. I'm also a fan of the 7900 so you can tell the tide and what the moon phase is without even looking up, now that really is amazing.
@@taoistgoth I might just have a new slight itch to scratch on the GBX-100, so many watches and so few wrists but there is always room for maybe one more. Many thanks for the suggestion.
The W-218H Illuminator has a longer strap so I bought the green & black, blue, grey and black & Orange watches in case they stop making them... I find the G-Shock 5600 BB has too short a strap... the buttons and layout is simple and easy to set alarms throughout the day.
regarding the GBD 200, could you change the entirety of the case for another colour? I'm not talking about the straps, I mean the whole body for another colour.
The light button has just fallen off my 1995 DW6600.. gonna see if Casio can repair it ..looking at other versions of the same watch but the 7900 has also caught my eye..
That last one…if it only had functionality of a ProTrek (compass and barometer mostly) would be a definite YES. As is…I do not need to know how many steps I did today. I need to know where to go and is it going to snow.
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR In forests of Yukon,Canada? Good luck getting connectivity. You have better chances finding a grizzly bear. Hey, maybe he might have a working cell tower near his cave?….
I have 3 Gs in my humble watch collection, all solar powered, all big and bold and all multi band 6 (from the older to the newer purchase) : - GW-3000 black with the orange markers dial - GWN-1000C aka The Gulfmaster in the darth color scheme - GW-9400 aka The Rangeman in the Men in Sunrise color scheme, I could not resist to have one of the toughest G-Shock in this crazy pinkurple color I also had and sold the GW-M5610BB in all black shiny resin, the GD-X6900GD in rose gold and the GWX-5600C in red shiny resin.
Everyone should have a 5610 (or if the budget will stretch to it a GW-5000). My other faves are my G-011D (Cube) the original stainless square. Yes to the GA-2100 which I managed to snag at launch just before they became THE watch to have complete with waiting lists and eBay hawkers price gouging. Also love my GBD-200 ( in spaceman off-white, and now I've seen yours I want a blue one as well) Last of my five is oddity GW-M850 with the "Rally Timer" and all the top stuff like Tough Solar, Multi-band 6, and an easy to find front-mount light button. It's taken an absolute battering and still works like a charm.
I have one of the original Caio G shock square from 1989 Dw 5200 that says the word Lithium on the crystal and it has a screwback case it has the regular light the later ones have electroluminescent back light I've had casio watches since I was a kid and have a large collection now I'm looking forward to get the casi oak great content
You forgot the frogman! Gw-200, gwf-1000, even the newer gwf-a1000 analog frogman is good. It's the only line that g shock makes that still comes with a screw down caseback and is iso certified! It's an absolute classic!
@THE MAD WATCH COLLECTOR I am from India and I have Dw5600 ue - 1 tough solar but my query is i see RCVD option when i tilt my watch.I know india does not have automatic time keeping. But does this watch feature automatic time keeping?
a very nice list Russell, I only have the G-Shock solar square from this list . I do have a mud resist but it is the GG-1000 ana-digi Mudmaster I use for trekking and mountaineering also the GA-700 in red, love the colour and my very favourite for traveling, and the Casio Royale AE-1200 world timer. But I do like your list too!
I have a small size wrist and was wary about wearing a G-Shock watch because of them being very bulky and would probably be like wearing a tower block on my wrist. I did however come across the 5610's and went ahead and purchased the negative display version when I saw it in a sale price from Amazon. I was surprised how well it wore on my wrist and having Multiband 6 and tough solar. Because of this I went ahead and purchased the positive display one. I really enjoy wearing them.
I already have these models: - Casioak "Mystic Forest"/GA-2100FR-3AER - DW-5600BB-1ER However I noticed that for my 19cm wrist I need a bigger watch. I'm currently torn between the DW-6900MR (with metal buckle!) and the GD-350-1B. Actually I wanted my next G-Shock to have a positive display. However I love the taller digits of the GD-350, but that one also costs 40€ more. Can anyone help?
G Shocks have always been a wonderful tool. As I type this I am wearing an AWG-M100. Multi-Band 6, Tough Solar. Ani-Digi. Wears smaller on the wrist. Incredible timepiece!
I have a tough solar watch that is my outdoor sports watch. It's not a G-Shock but it has done everything a G can do. The cherry on top is I got it at Walmart on clearance for $13.00 dollars.
My top 5 g-shocks will be.. Rangeman GW-9400 for its complete function, blackout basic square DW-5600BB for its stealth look, sporty GBD-200, Mudman G-9300 for its comfortable wear all day long, GW-7900 for its rugged tough look and function!
You mentioned that with the 5610 that you wouldn’t need to worry about it for 20 years. Why is that? Shouldn’t it last forever since it’s solar powered? (given you take good care of it.)
I recently began wearing a G-Shock M500A I owned for about three years now after avoiding it for a while. I used to hate the idea of solar watches because I find it being pretty redundant and ridiculous. I mean, what if it ran out of a juice and there's no sunlight outside? That thing is basically useless without it. But after reading some more info about solar watches and I heard it actually lasts longer than other watches, even those that have 10 year batteries, my opinion on solar watches changed and I now find it useful and reliable.
I was waiting for The “Super!” cutaway, but alas not today. Cracks me up every time!. Love the display on that GBD200. Want one now. Nice biG DISPLAY!!. Fed up of squinting at my Worldtimer, almost needing a jewellers loupe to see the date. Too much of display taken up with silly map and seconds circle (Still wear it though 😊). Great content-but don’t forget the “Super!” cutaway next time!.
I love watches I love g-shocks too, just bought a GW-5000u as I like the look of the squares, already looking at getting another,I quite fancy 1 of the bluetooth squares with the compo bracelet.
I hope they do more over time with that GBD200. I really want to try one for that display but I wish they hadn't axed the countdown timer to make room for all of the fitness tracking and smartwatch stuff that I wouldn't use anyways.
@@taoistgoth How do you access them? This video (and several others) shows switching through the modes and I don't see a countdown timer function. Is it tied into the workout screen somehow?
I would up the ante on the DW-6900 to the GW-6900 to add solar power and atomic time keeping to an already great watch and you can find it on sale throughout the year.
Exactly I own the GW-6900 in black. Wear it everyday to work in the factory and use it as the benchmark time when setting my automatic and hand wound watches.
Nice video on the Gs! I have both the DW and GWM models. I can't really warm to the CasioOaks (unpopular opinion, I know). I also have the Mudman with the red buttons and the text lighting up is pretty awesome!
You're so funny, mad watch collector. G-shock watches are awesome. I own a G-shock square special edition with a blueish screen. I ordered it directly from Japan (JDM) about 2 years ago. I also own a Casio pathfinder with triple sensors that I bought around 1992. Thanks for what you bring to the watches' world. You also help me to keep up with my English skills. Keep up the good work. Bonjour from Montréal, Québec, Canada.
As I'm not the sportiest person out there, while I love various Casio watches - I've yet to really pull the trigger on a G-Shock. I've wanted to for some time as a sentimental throwback to my Mom having gotten me one back in elementary school as my first ever proper day to day watch (unfortunately lost between various moves). These picks have really helped give me some ideas to narrow things down a bit. Thanks for the vid!
Wait what? I had to run to my watchbox and check out the backlight on my Mudman. It does light up the 'bezel' area! I did not know that and if I ever did completely forgot about it. Nice.
Would like a small plastic Casio with a countdown timer, I got 5 Casios but I don't realy like them when they dont have countdown counter and good backlight!
GBD 200 with smart phone features are not found on G Shocks Canadian web site. The ones available are for tracking running distance only. No phone texts capabilities.
Hi Russ, I have the plain 5600, a 6900 with MB6 and solar, and the upgrade from 5610, the awesome 5000U, grandson of the very first G, screwback, made in Japan, and went almost 3 seconds slow in almost 4 months. I intendo to buy a MIP display when I am 60 or so lol. Greetings from SP, Brazil
I have the 5600e for 6 years. I've beat the crap out of it dove 20ft many times in salt water, full time handyman and I ended up getting new rubber a few years back to spice it up. I've got the solar version and the military version i have a few other round models including the dive. They all are solid and I've replaced batteries, used silicone on the o-rings and never had a problem being water proof. Just don't stretch out any oring while applying the appropriate silicone.

I will probably get one myself 😊
Nobody NEEDS another G-Shock so don’t let that stop you. 😊
Had to get it when I saw it.😁
Thank you for watching my friend!
Thanks to you, I've bought my first g shock the gw5610 u and I really love it! I wear it everyday.
Thank you from Philppines with love!
Yes!!! Congratulations my friend!!!!!!
Yes, more G-Shock madness. The punters love the G.
Cheers Paul!
You could honestly pick 5 gshocks at random and end up with a fun collection! Great show!
I've got a DW5500C unfortunately the bezel cracked off years ago. Dw6900 is my personal recommendation.
Anybody knows any else of casio watch that have interval timer feature? Just like in casio sport watch RFT-100 (referee soccer watch) it has 9 interval timer, I use it for my weight lifting exercise, so helpful. 30second workout then 1minute resting.. So I have 5 set of that
The last one looks good. Do they do it in a sand camouflage colour ?
Great episode. Got to love a G-Shock! My top 5 in no particular order are: 5610, 6900, GAW-100B (casiona), GAC-100, GW-3000B.
Thanks my friend!
I have g shock 5600e . One of the simple hardy classy delegent look.
Great video, if I wouldn't already own 5 G-Shocks, I'd go and get one of these right away! 🙂
Hello from Dallas Texas. You are the reason I started collecting Casio G-Shocks.
Love your vids man. Very informative.
Yes!!!! Awesome my friend! All the best to you Josh!
I got a W-218H the other day, it’s like a cheap mini G-Shock. It’s $16, it’s square, it’s a little thinner and smaller than the G-Shock. I got an army green version the band has a bit of texture which I love.
You can put bull bars on it as well from a dw5600
I have to agree Russel the GBD-200 display is bonkers, incredibly readable even from the moon (assuming you have a decent enough telescope and you're not on the wrong side of the planet). The 5610 is probably my favourite though (bonded with this one during a couple of surgeries in hospital a few years ago, this one will never be sold) ahead of my full metal 5000's and the resin 5600's. I'm also a fan of the 7900 so you can tell the tide and what the moon phase is without even looking up, now that really is amazing.
Legend Anthony!
If you like the GBD-200's MIP display and the 7900's tide and moon phase display, then look up the GBX-100, which has BOTH!
@@taoistgoth I might just have a new slight itch to scratch on the GBX-100, so many watches and so few wrists but there is always room for maybe one more. Many thanks for the suggestion.
@@anthonystevens8683 You're welcome
I really liked GBD200's display. Is there a non smartwatch version of this watch?
Great list! The 7900 series are things of rugged beauty!
Why does this guy trys to eat me every 1 minute?!
It was lunchtime
The W-218H Illuminator has a longer strap so I bought the green & black, blue, grey and black & Orange watches in case they stop making them... I find the G-Shock 5600 BB has too short a strap... the buttons and layout is simple and easy to set alarms throughout the day.
regarding the GBD 200, could you change the entirety of the case for another colour? I'm not talking about the straps, I mean the whole body for another colour.
For the mudmen my pick g9300 has a positive display, moonphase, temp and digi compass along with the rest of the usual extras amazing
Very cool
The light button has just fallen off my 1995 DW6600.. gonna see if Casio can repair it ..looking at other versions of the same watch but the 7900 has also caught my eye..
The 5600E went into mud many times. I'm wearing it now, although it doesn't even work because of a little itty bitty mud. It's always 15 minutes fast.
That last one…if it only had functionality of a ProTrek (compass and barometer mostly) would be a definite YES. As is…I do not need to know how many steps I did today. I need to know where to go and is it going to snow.
Hahahahaha check the phone weather app;)
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR In forests of Yukon,Canada? Good luck getting connectivity. You have better chances finding a grizzly bear. Hey, maybe he might have a working cell tower near his cave?….
I have 3 Gs in my humble watch collection, all solar powered, all big and bold and all multi band 6 (from the older to the newer purchase) :
- GW-3000 black with the orange markers dial
- GWN-1000C aka The Gulfmaster in the darth color scheme
- GW-9400 aka The Rangeman in the Men in Sunrise color scheme, I could not resist to have one of the toughest G-Shock in this crazy pinkurple color
I also had and sold the GW-M5610BB in all black shiny resin, the GD-X6900GD in rose gold and the GWX-5600C in red shiny resin.
Surely Casio will eventually put the clear GBD200 display into more of their line up. It would look amazing in the 5600 range!
Has to my friend!!!!
You forgot the frogman! Gw-200, gwf-1000, even the newer gwf-a1000 analog frogman is good. It's the only line that g shock makes that still comes with a screw down caseback and is iso certified! It's an absolute classic!
My favourite is the GD-120. I've had mine for 8 years now - it saw me through pre-university, military service, university, and now working life.
Absolutely awesome my friend!!!
@THE MAD WATCH COLLECTOR I am from India and I have Dw5600 ue - 1 tough solar but my query is i see RCVD option when i tilt my watch.I know india does not have automatic time keeping. But does this watch feature automatic time keeping?
Love my GA100-1A4...wear it tons, but it's not for everyone...it's BIG! Still looking forward to picking up a GBD-200!
Wow! Yes that is huuuuuuuuuge!!!! Cool though my friend!!
I had the 5600 in the 80s in high school. I loved that watch. Had it years but i dont know what happened to it
Love my 5610u just ironically ticks all the boxes, I've since bought a 2100 Bluetooth solar version which is awesome too
a very nice list Russell, I only have the G-Shock solar square from this list .
I already have these models:
- Casioak "Mystic Forest"/GA-2100FR-3AER
- DW-5600BB-1ER
However I noticed that for my 19cm wrist I need a bigger watch. I'm currently torn between the DW-6900MR (with metal buckle!) and the GD-350-1B.
Actually I wanted my next G-Shock to have a positive display. However I love the taller digits of the GD-350, but that one also costs 40€ more. Can anyone help?
Are the screens exactly the same for the square Gshocks? DW5600 and GW5620? I want to get a screen protector for mine.
G Shocks have always been a wonderful tool.
As I type this I am wearing an AWG-M100.
Multi-Band 6, Tough Solar. Ani-Digi.
Wears smaller on the wrist. Incredible timepiece!
Niceeeeee. Could u include the model's name and number onscreen for 2 seconds when you talk about it?
I have a tough solar watch that is my outdoor sports watch. It's not a G-Shock but it has done everything a G can do. The cherry on top is I got it at Walmart on clearance for $13.00 dollars.
Sweet!
Excellent choices! I do have the 5610 myself, and eyeing up a positive display g9000 mudman as well! Another fun video as watches should be
Your videos amzing, easy to listen, a bit fun a bit facts in that enthusiastic presentation, love it, keep going this way
Thank you my friend!
I say a lot of things! Make them as you will man, I’m not part of Casio
I own and love these three G-Shocks:
1. GW-5610 1ER
2. G-8000 in orange
3. GW-056E in blue
Best 'must own' video G-SHOCK lineup I've seen. Great choices all!
Cheers Patrick!!! If I put it in every week you’d get bored!!;)
I think the MIP is definitely here to stay!!
It does have a countdown timer, in fact several
@@taoistgoth How do you access them? This video (and several others) shows switching through the modes and I don't see a countdown timer function. Is it tied into the workout screen somehow?
@@iburley_ The timers are the very first mode - there are five of them.
I would up the ante on the DW-6900 to the GW-6900 to add solar power and atomic time keeping to an already great watch and you can find it on sale throughout the year.
Just don’t colour the modern colour scheme!
Nice show again! My favourite sofar is the MTG-B2000
I have a GM-B2100BD-1A, GMWB5000D-1 and I just ordered a DW5040PG-1. Love my steel G-Shocks.
I bought my first G Shock, GW B5600SL 5. Didn't like it at first, love it now!
Thank you for watching my friend!
I love GST-B600-1A. If you could make a review of that watch, that would be awesome! Keep up the good work and crack on mate!
When those eyes get old that MIP display will be priceless!!;)
It's none other than G-shock Analog GA-2100 !
Wich you would advise to take GW9400 or GBX100? for some reason I don't like Oak designe casio's
Well I prefer the GBD to the GBX personally. Same functions . The Rangeman is cool!!!!
Thank you!
Gbx has moon phase and sunrise/sunset if that's of interest (gbd doesn't)
@@GinkgoJoe and tide in and tide out good for scuba diving and fishing
@@arturasdanaitis1335 but Rangeman has the barometer and a pressure change alarm -- very handy while camping. But the displays on the gbd and gbx are amazing. (Tough call, which is why I have all three!!)
I'm almost 23yo and just bought my first G-shock, a DW5600BB, i love the negative display on digital watches, so that was the thing to choose this one, definitely gonna buy and collect this guys, the next one gonna be the one my father had when he was younger, i could choose that as my first, but the DW5600 is a piece of history and the design suits me more (my father had the DW5900)
I'm planning to have my First G-Shock. Please suggest which one do I choose? G-5600UE (basic square tough solar) Or GA-B2100 (casioak tough solar) ????????
Please everyone! Would love your suggestions! Please 🤔😵💫❤
My current tiny Casio Collection-
A1845 MTP-E321D-1AVDF
W-217HM-9AVDF
EFV-140D-3AV
And I also wanted to know what are your thoughts on Casio Enticer GMT, the MTP-W500?? Why no one has covered this watch in their videos till now?!
Good choices! I recently won a G-9000 Mudman with the red buttons at auction for $13! One of my proudest wins, that one!
Lovely jubly Russ, great concise review of some awesome G-Shocks. Was surprised not to see you camp casioak in the mix. Always look forward to your fun and uplifting reviews and this one is no exception. I’m going to have to get my wallet out after this!😮
Cheers Dave!!
Squares with MIP displays are being released in April. Defo going to grab one.
