How to request a Lyft ride. It's easy to request a ride from Lyft.
Just download the Lyft App on your smartphone
Set up your Lyft account with a means of payment.
Set your pickup location
Set up your destination
Request Lyft
The default option for riding with Lyft is the 4 door economy car. This will allow 1-4 passengers to ride for the same price.
You can order a larger vehicle for up to 6 passengers
OR choice a Luxury Vehicle.
Because Lyft only accepts credit, debit or PayPal , there is no cash exchanged unless you want to tip your driver with cash.
Lyft's rating system is designed to ensure that only the best drivers are on the Lyft platform. A driver with a rating of 4.6 or lower can be excluded from driving for Lyft so most drivers do their best to make sure your ride is safe and pleasant.
Drivers, in turn, will rate you as a passenger at the end of the ride.

I had a car accident a few months ago, and I had to find a way to get to and from work. Most of the time my parents drive me and pick me up. I had to use Lyft or Uber. I looked at Uber, and they were very expensive. Looking to plan ahead would cost me 40 dollars. I looked at Lyft, and they were much cheaper. So far I have had a great experience with Lyft. The drivers are very nice, and get you to your destination on time and safely
Thanks for the refresher course... I haven't used Lyft in several years and I'm headed to San Francisco for a couple of days and since parking is tough...I'll just get around on Lyft for most of the two day visit!

I am going to use a Uber but I heard between the 2 is very similar when I don't have a ride and when I need a ride to work I can do that from my phone.

I am also in Portland and will,soon be starting driving for Lyft. I don’t want to start driving in rush hour traffic yet, night or day, I want to ease in to it a bit first. Can you give me your best guesstimate about what possible earnings or likely number of rides might be for someone driving, say, 10 am to 3pm during the week and all day on Sundays? My wife thinks this will be get rich quick territory, but I have to pick up our son from school every day and although he is a mature 11 year old, my wife is very paranoid about leaving him alone in the house. So my availability for evening driving may be spotty as well. Within those confines, how well do you think someone might do? I live in Hillsdale, by the way. My son’s school in Lake Oswego is a good 15 minute drive during non rush hour.

I use to get a LYFT once a week here. On third LYFT, I opened car door & tons of stinky gray smoke rolled out! I have pulmonary issues, & cannot be near any tobacco smoke.

How to add shortcut destinations is easy. But how to make them appear?
I've had it trying to even sign up for an acct. Someone else had my phone previously so it's impossible to even sign up. I hate this bs.

So you give like a 70% Tip all the time???
Can we make it a point to put the pickup and drop-off pin at the spot you will or want to be standing? If you put it in the middle of the building, or just choose the address, it thinks we are picking you up in the middle of the building or at the mailbox. Just saying.
You can either drop a pin or manually type in an address. Whichever one is more accurate will certainly help the driver out in finding you. Unfortunately it is not an exact science So anything you can do to make it easier for the driver is awesome.
@@ridesharesilver Do you have to pay the lyft driver twice or once? For instance, going to your destination & picking you up to get back home?
If going to or from an airport is it necessary to indicate that I have luggage? Is there extra charge for luggage?
As long as you don't have more luggage than a regular 4 door car can handle, all drivers expect airport passengers to have luggage. So no worries
