Your explanations are great, and your camera positions help us see everything very clearly. Great job on this video, I am looking forward to getting some new coil overs for my MINI.
I did. Never tried something like a strut swap. Snapped pinch bolt, almost pushed the car off a cliff. Had to drill. Every bolt on this car is seized. Total nightmare
Milan I like these style of videos where you show us everything you're doing instead of those videos where you just talk about what you're going to do and in the next clip everything is already done. people like to see better than to hear people talking.
every car on earth needs to be lowered. just a quick note on what i heard..."camber can wear out tires". negative camber will not wear thru tires. incorrect toe does (toe in, toe out...you want zero). that mini looks nice sitting flush. : )
Hey Milan, how have these BCs held up? What was the ride quality like, firmer or similar to stock shocks? At the softest setting is it better than stock?
Does anybody agree with me that the mini looks much better stance wise when it's lowered in such a way to try and ensure the bottom sill angle with the ground is reduced from stock angle? My R56 JCW is lowered on KW coilovers, and dropped 30mm on all 4 corners, so there is still the default angle between the sill and the ground, which personally I dislike. My question is can you reduce this angle and for the car to remain functional? I guess the back needs to be lowered more than the front to acieve this look, is this done by peeps out there???? Cheers ma dears.
Great vid Milan, just a shame you rushed the rear fitment of the shocks, they fitted differently and would have benefitted from being shown how to fit, but having said that the vid was good anyway. Thanks.
so i have an r53 and im not sure if the r56 is the same . the rear coilovers have an adjustment at the top but in an r56 you cant even see the top of the mounted strut? what did you do ? cut a hole ?
I know it's an old video, but did you install the extension cable for adjusting the rear? I had these on my R56 and looking to install on my R55, but want to be able to adjust the rear whilst on the car (my garage installed the extension cables into the boot)
i wonder if you can help me i bought new coil for my mini cooper 2002 R50 when i installed the coil i finished everything i put my wheels back on and the coil was touching the back of my wheel so if you can please help me
Hi ive been watching your video for a while i learn a lot..by the hows the bc coilovers are they stiff bouncy? Etc.. im planning to put a coilovers on my mini countryman would u recommend the bc coilovers?
Have you experienced any kind of trouble with the axles angle after you lowered your Mini ? I'm running on KW V1 coilovers and since it has been installed, axle spider has popped out from inner joint.
Just installed some of these coilovers on my 08 Mini. Did you have any vibration issues from 1-3 gears? Seems to be in the lower RPMs. Maybe a driveline issue with it being lowered? I wonder if an alignment will help.
If you're getting a vibration, you should raise your vehicle a tad as that is typically a problem with the half shafts and the angle in which they are positioned.
I have a 2005 r-50. I can't get the assembly out. The problem is the swing atm doesn't drop out of the way enough to let the assembly come out of the swing arm. Am I missing something?
Hey Milan. Great video thats exactly what I'm thinking to get to my impreza right now. and I have a suggestion. I think it should be very helpful if you tell us the duration of the installing or the mod that you make in a video, you may just say it or you put in in the description or in the title it doesn't matter but just to give us an idea of how much time it takes to do what you do. again great job man I'm a big fan of what you do keep it up 👍
Milan, I need your help! When installing adjustable coilovers on my R52, do I need new camber links or any new bushings? Or can I just install the coilovers and expect everything to line up and perform appropriately? Finally, how do I determine optimal ride height or whether I should be lowering the front more than the rear? I want to achieve a good setup, but I'm not sure if the front or rear should be higher than the other or the same.
So it all depends how much you lower the car. If you keep it close to the stock ride height, you won't need adjustable arms. If you plan on dropping it quite a bit, the car with naturally camber in (negative camber), so you will need adjustable control arms to correct that, otherwise you will get uneven tire wear. Typically a safe go-to is about 1.5" lower than stock
milanmastracci - I'm adding adjustable control arms to the mix, along with camber links. I do want it dropped about 1.5-2.0 inches, so I'll definitely need to adjust the camber. Thank you sir! Much appreciated!
No in the video you say to look up the factory settings when doing the bolts for the coilovers I figured they should just be done with your wrench as tight as u can . I didn't know if you actually torqued them all around
un conseil lavez le dessous a chaque voyage car ca rouille grave les mini !!!!!!!!! surtout chez vous !!! bmw pourrai quand meme traiter les pieces une honte de mettre du beau mattos sur de la m .........
i hate when people lower thier cars, ruins the whole look. maybe cuz im in a big city chicago and every wannabe mexican ricers lower thier 2001 honda civics
LOL, don't fool yourself and definitely your viewers like that! You are doing this only for the looks. If you think this will improve handling you are ignorant and should do some research. The geometry of the entire suspension is set up to work at the stock ride height, and you can be sure a Works is already tuned towards handling. If anything, lowering the suspension combined with changing the scrub radius will ruin the dynamic camber and caster, bump steer, steering feel and tracking, no matter how good the static alignment is matching the original. This also applies to the rear as multilink suspensions are usually tuned to have some passive dynamic steering, changing the base angles and spring stiffness changes the amount of passive steering effect, no matter how hard you compensate the static alignment by using adjustable arms. Real race cars have either longer suspension arms or totally different suspension mounting points to widen the track, not wheel spacers. Real race cars lower the body to the road by redesigning the entire suspension as a whole compared to the road going versions, often even relocating the steering rack and changing the location where the links bolt to the hub assembly, using different suspension arms mounted to completely different subframes... not by slapping on shorter/adjustable strut assemblies. The only realistic upgrades an individual can do suspension wise is replacing suspension arms and wheels by lighter versions with the same specs, fit stiffer bushings and fit better shocks. Even a very subtle fixed lowering kit and stiffer stabiliser bars are already changing the dynamics enough to possibly ruin them.

Candisa it's just like, who really throws on a wide body kit and strips the car to make it lighter? what do you want this to be? 😂 a track car? a race car?
I remember watching this video dreaming of owning a mini one day. I'm now doing this job on my own 2011 R56 S. Thank you 🖤
Heck yeah Joe!! That's epic 👏 happy to hear that
Your explanations are great, and your camera positions help us see everything very clearly. Great job on this video, I am looking forward to getting some new coil overs for my MINI.
Wow. Your approach was so much easier than the other video that I watched.
About to do this when my coilovers arrive so I had to watch this video again.
I think you might need to change the belt on the mini, it looks like its done. Look at it at 3:34
Holy... that thing is about to fall apart.
Oh I know lol I have one ordered and will be doing a video about it :)
coilovers made ur car hell of a beast. lovin it!
Dame man your a good teacher...I'm learning lots
Great video dude. Gives me courage to install H&R coilovers on my Mini myself.
I did. Never tried something like a strut swap. Snapped pinch bolt, almost pushed the car off a cliff. Had to drill. Every bolt on this car is seized. Total nightmare

RazoE being from Cali it bugs me lmao
i love this channel best motor channel by far
Great video. I'm new to Mini but love mine. One note though: DO NOT ADD HEAT TO SHOCKS! Yeah, I think I'm going to tackle this upgrade soon. Thanks!
i havnt even watched the video yet and i already that it's gonna be awesome!!
Thank You You help me alot to understand how this work next step for my Mini again thanks alot
Not a problem 😊
milanmastracci what do you think about the Mookeeh MK 1 lower Control Arms and the mookeeh Mk1 struts +coilover kit
I'm too excited to see this thing hit the track 🔥🔥
Its gonna be so much fun lol
Great video 👏👏
Love u and your cars.
You deserve more subs. You make really good videos!
?
UPLOAD MORE VIDEOS!
Looks good! Did you have any issues with tyre rubbing when you hit bumps? Seems there's not much room to allow for suspension travel.
Thanks, this is a well done documentary of how to think through it.. Have to agree that belt looks a little suspicious ;)
every car on earth needs to be lowered. just a quick note on what i heard..."camber can wear out tires". negative camber will not wear thru tires. incorrect toe does (toe in, toe out...you want zero). that mini looks nice sitting flush. : )
Nice video what kind of the Jack used for Mini Copper I follow you
Hey Milan, how have these BCs held up? What was the ride quality like, firmer or similar to stock shocks? At the softest setting is it better than stock?
did you ever switch to "bigger beefier end links " ? did you get rubbing on the cv ?
you da man dog! putting my KW v2's on this week. Going to make a video too.
Cant wait to get her set up like yours!
Thank you for this video! I just got done with my R53. Everything went well except the front tire rubs. Did you use wheel spacers???

Can changing my struts/shocks on my 2007 mini Coopers make any difference in the rough eide?
Do you have to take apart interior to get to the bolts in the rear shocks? Thanks
so i have an r53 and im not sure if the r56 is the same . the rear coilovers have an adjustment at the top but in an r56 you cant even see the top of the mounted strut? what did you do ? cut a hole ?

Can someone please! Please! PleSe!!!!!! Tell me what those "oil" leak looking stuff was on the inside of that first wheel well
Hi ive been watching your video for a while i learn a lot..by the hows the bc coilovers are they stiff bouncy? Etc.. im planning to put a coilovers on my mini countryman would u recommend the bc coilovers?
Those springs look pretty stout and stiff . How is the ride , does it have travel or is it spine jarring ?
@9:35 excellent tip.
For the rear did you reuse your top hat or did you just put the coil over in by itself
Where did you get wide body flares for the mini?
10:26 wtf😂
hey milan hows it going buddy been a long time since we spoke, i hope your doing fine, can you please update us on the golf thanks

I am having vibration issues now :
:/ 2005 mcs with back coils
Hello! Could u tell me, what size are your spacers? Maybe u have a blueprint ?
It is completely dependant on wheel specs. On these BBS wheels, I was using 25mm spacers. On the current wheels on my MINI, I don't have any spacers.
I have a 2005 r-50. I can't get the assembly out. The problem is the swing atm doesn't drop out of the way enough to let the assembly come out of the swing arm. Am I missing something?
Disconnect the sway bar and try it again 👍
@@milanmastracci I disconnected the end links from the strut and from the sway bar.
No review of how they ride?
Hey man, I have a r56 mini cooper s and I want to tune the car myself. What options do I have for that?
Are those caliper covers or did you paint them? If they’re bought red or covers can you link me a place to buy them?
They're JCW 4 piston calipers
HI ...DO YOU NEED THE SPACERS IN THE WHEELS TO INSTALL COILOVERS..????
No you do not. I need them, however to make the wheels flush, you may need them.
What's with all the fluid streaks in the wheel arch
I have a Camry but wanna put coils... any suggestions on which brand to go for?
Ahsan Tahir Can't go wrong with Bilstein.
Hey Milan how many miles are on your mini? (Or I guess km for you)
are you gonna get the car corner balanced?
Struts are in the front

do you need spacers for coil overs?
One should not
warning, what happens in Milan's garage stays in the garage haha, nice sign
i think bc coils need to be preloaded?
Which series are these coilovers?
BR. I might upgrade them down the road
What are your tires and rim dimensions
These were 17x7+42, but I switched up my wheel and tire setup to something a bit beefier :)
th-cam.com/video/_fWQ194oE-s/w-d-xo.html
Do you still have your stock jcw coil overs and would you be willing to part with them???
Yes I still have them. Send me an email at milanmastracci@gmail.com
Lucky, I want coilovers
shared and liked ur video
What did u set your torque settings to g or the front and rear coilovers?
The torque settings for what? You mean the adjustment knob for the rebound?
No in the video you say to look up the factory settings when doing the bolts for the coilovers I figured they should just be done with your wrench as tight as u can . I didn't know if you actually torqued them all around
The assembly nuts and bolts
Damn! I love meaty fitment. Don't see why these guys stretch tyres
Any suggestions for a 2012 Countryman S All4?
These: amzn.to/2oktABg
They're the same coils as my car, but meant for the countryman. Fully adjustable, great coils, and reliable!!
Thanks will do! Love the videos and GO LEAFS!!
What are your spring rates???
Hey man what's the little knob for?
Cj Pumped Addict dampening
i have a 2014 f56 is this about the same?
I would say so! Yes 👍
what are you going to do with the accord bro??? 😥😥
You'll see :)
milanmastracci I just started following ur ig check out my super stock accord lol! @slowmaticc
The link for the coilovers doesn't work :(
Danke 👍👍👍
Nice
hey man cant you use camber arms
Yes :)
Those are technically camber arms. They just look different on different cars. Still replacing the control arms I believe.
what wheels are those??
Those are BBS RK wheels. 17x7
What wheels ?
where is the accord
What kind od question is that? Ista a video on the mini.
Widebody? We ve waiting way too much
You've been waiting? Cuz I haven't right..? lol I think they're delivered, just gotta go pick them up in FreedomLand
Where did you get the wide flares?
rust rust baby
I'll get around to that :) But its only the subframe so its not a huge deal
milanmastracci you should do a subframe rust removal video. I gotta do my subframes this summer.
Ouwt, abouwt
un conseil lavez le dessous a chaque voyage car ca rouille grave les mini !!!!!!!!! surtout chez vous !!! bmw pourrai quand meme traiter les pieces une honte de mettre du beau mattos sur de la m .........
Links dont work
Which? They all seem to work for me..
milanmastracci they do now...i swear they didn't the other night..thanks

R53> R56. Hopefully it doesn't catch fire 🔥 like mine 😑
100th like !
Coilover garage with Milan Straciatelli
Out...
Ooooot ;)
Dude you should be wearing gloves
i hate when people lower thier cars, ruins the whole look. maybe cuz im in a big city chicago and every wannabe mexican ricers lower thier 2001 honda civics
those wheels are awful
This product is garbage
BC coilovers?
i don't understand why you would do that to a mini cooper 😅😂
Make it handle better?
