BIG TURBO MINI COOPER? YES PLEASE!!!

- Getting this Mini to be stupid fast requires many things. Induction is a very important part of it. Since I will not be increasing the displacement of the cylinders, the only way to get more power out of an engine is to shove more air into those cylinders. That way, the engine will be able to spray more fuel into the combustion chamber and give us more power. The more air we can shove into those cylinders, the more power we will be able to extract.
The R56 Cooper S’ and JCW’s come turbocharged from the manufacturer. Most people who have Cooper S’ will want to upgrade to the JCW 37mm turbo for the extra power. Since I’m already at that stage, I want something a bit beefier than that. If I upgraded to d 42mm, I’d be able to push about 260 whp, but I’m would like a bit more than that, hence the 47mm upgrade I bought. There are 100% going to be other mods needed to support the extra turbo, including a new clutch, a LSD, potentially upgraded axles, etc. When you upgrade one thing, you will usually have to upgrade others to keep some reliability.

Not sure if it's just an effect of the angle, but the cold-side outlet looks like its been slightly flattened at one point on the rim... that might be the other damage they referred to.

Hello I been watching your videos you know your stuff it's great but I have a question I have a 2013 cooper s r56 I will like to install a aem cold air intake the one that connects to the hood scoop will that work when is raining hard or will it damage my engine
Did you use the oem turbo manifold or what company did you find has an aftermarket manifold if you've upgraded any help would be appreciated all i have found is ebay and amazon manifolds which aren't built durable enough

hey Milan...great vid on the mini... ive got a black on black mini cooper S convertible 2010.... when its cold it has trouble starting.... takes about 4 or 5 tries before it goes...and the idle is a tad wobbly at times... it has 92k miles on it ...any ideas to fix.... would the BG cleaner additive help?...

Lol in all seriousness, I think 30 psi will be pushing it. Even if I stick with the 20 that it makes now, the added CFM alone with make more power
So I'm thinking about buying an '02 wrx. It has catless up and down pipes. It has a catback angled exhaust. Should I be able to pass emissions with that?
Depends if you have a CEL. You might need a defiler to trick the ECU to pass

should 2jz swap the 240 the sr fully builded is like 300/350 HP the 2jz on stoch ecu makes like 450 max and that on STOCK ecu

I have an '04 Mini myself. It's completely stock except for the cam. I have a project I want to do. Ready?... Twin charger. (Supercharger and turbo charger). No only that but you are going to think I'm crazy... Running the Mini on gas vapor. Not propane. Not compressed gas. GAS VAPOR. Think this will give me 100 to 400 mpg. Even if I hot rod it. Big, big plans!!!!!
New to mini, running a manic stage 1, large M7 intercooler, M7 ignition coils, M7 intake, M7 oil catch can, mini S, what would I see by doing just a JCW turbo.. 2009 with 86k miles... Unsure of the BOV...??? I'm turbo dumb. I appreciate your help and time.
Also running borla cat back exhaust, cated downpipe dealership installed it for state law.
The JCW turbocharger outputs and flows more air than the JCW turbo, which would result in more power. People who have MCSs' tend to put JCW turbos' on their cars and see great performance from them. A decat downpipe along with a catback exhaust would also help in giving more power
Sadly I have to cat's state law, it requires a visual inspection and OBD2 hookup. Think I need to retune after the JCW turbo? What's a good BOV? Or what's a BOV adapter do? Love the turbo sound!

It does, the original cooper s had a supercharger but they changed it to a turbo.

We got plenty of those being used in Citroens and Peugeots in the EU.
Theres an extremely talanted tuner for those in Greece who does remote maps for any kind of setups. Most run the TD05-big16G over here with up to 350bhp.

Have you had ring failure, yet? I ask because I know the stock internals can only take 265hp at the wheel, if you pump that kind of power to the stock internals, then you're looking at ring failure, and a mad short engine life.

haha unfortunately. It sounds like you know what you are talking about so i'm sure you are familiar with it haha. I own a 13 R56 with the N18 and so far, that thing has been great. No major upgrades, 60k miles never had an issue. What your thoughts are on a future w11 build turbo swap then swap when the n14 goes?

Or you could go w/ JM Turbo Coopers turbo charger that is custom built. They are more expensive than the one you bought. But they fit straight on the Mini w/o all the modifications you are doing.
