Fun fact: She had just finished playing Liszt's B minor sonata. She stood up for the applause, sat back down and started playing this as if the previous piece had been a warm-up 😎
Pretty sure Liszt b minor sonat is harder then this idk
@@awe331 she played this in octaves tho right? then no
Pro QBr
It’s not octaves cziffras version, and yeah I’m pretty sure this is easier then sonat in b minor
@@awe331 definitely LOOKS harder to me tho, maybe isn't
@@awe331 Well, it would be hard to say which is harder. On one hand you need a lot of stamina and crazy Argerich-like power to play the octaves in bumblebee, but on the other hand you need tremendous virtuosity to play the sonata properly. I guess you could say the Sonata is harder because it's a 30 minute-long effort. But bumblebee is definitely no walk in the park. 😅

🤣😂😂🤣 haha.
Brilliant!
That odd moment where the pianist surpasses the frequency of actual bumblebee wings ...
Noctumus hmmmm
Possibly has the Parkinson's disease.
Nah. No human could ever (Yuja Wang included) hit 200 keystrokes PER SECOND on a piano. Bumblebees flap their wings 200 times per second so you should've researched that before commenting. She's fast, but not nearly THAT fast...So many dumb people liked your comment too...lol. Ignorance is bliss, as they say.
Bad sense of humour. Very bad indeed!
Well, I found your comment amusing!! 😂🎉❤
This is one of those rare pieces that I think no one ever complains about its interpretation being too fast because the faster it is the more it comes closer to imitating the wings of a bumblebee.
Ask Sacriligious Boi
@@lucachu7775 u have a point, I remember that video XD
Fast is one thing, articulation and clarity of the notes are another.
In this, the notes are very clear and distinct, unlike the death of the mosquito violin sacrilegious man
Is this in one movement or two?
@@yaboyzak6922 As a non musician, I would say this is in a zillion movements - of the hands - lol
She has complete control over the dynamics of EVERY note she plays, amazing.
Absolutely true, Jernej.
Sigh.. she's overrated and eats up all the fame.
@@paulzeng6211 She plays the game as well as the piano. That's a character thing and a management thing, none of which take anything away from her skills. I'm not saying she's the best ever, I'm saying her playing is very impressive.
Yuja Wang is a gift from the gods. It isn't only the speed that impresses. You can hear the melody shining through that impossibly furious attack with the rhythm completely intact.
Agree. Of course she’d years upon years of repetitive practice, but she’s a gift from God himself
✝️ indeed
I can play this with my eyes closed. but when I wake up I eat breakfast immediately.

my jaw dropped when I heard the octaves

It's not possible.
that’s cziffra in a nutshell
My hands hurt just watching her, this isn't a bumblebee it is the whole hive. Breathtaking is all I can say, I did not know a human could do this, instead of a singe notes she did it in octaves. Bravo!!
Cziffra's version of Flight of the Bumblebee is just amazing, and Yuja does amazing wonders with it
the one time twoset actually enjoys the whole "fastest pianist world record" thing

I’m floored! To watch a person with world class talent, regardless of the instrument, is one of the great pleasures in life.
World class is an understatement in this case
Makes me realise that there is real talent in the world, while we are being saturated in mediocrity.
It is not her who should bow but we as the audience. Amazing.

1. Young and fit woman
2. Extremely quick with her hands
I think it's obvious what everyone is thinking about: She would make a terrific typist in high profile court cases where a lot of dialogue is spoken quickly, or perhaps a fine cardiovascular surgeon where hand speed, along with precission which this young woman also seems to posses, are of the utmost essence.

"Yuja Wang plays flight of the bumblebee" is the understatement of the year
And she can perform slow movements extremely well too... Gorgeous!
Fun Fact: She won that piano from Satan after defeating him in a musical duel.
That reminds me of that fiddle song where he battles the devil to get a golden fiddle, and wins
Diddle lost the fiddle
And it was considered the greatest song in the world.
Plot twist: thats the one piano to rule them all. Shes succumbed to the power of the One Piano.
@@anthonyfisiihoi Maybe this is just a tribute to that song?
shockingly extraordinary, great dynamics, entertaining, you can hear and "see" the bees swarming out, thanks Yuja Wang. 🙏
Rarely heard such beautiful dynamic shadings. She's an artist of the highest caliber.

2nd. Cziffra was 1st.
Um, no. There are far harder pieces by Alkan and I don't think even Yuja Wang has the guts to try them.
Caleb Hu true. Alkan has some crazy, and I mean CRAZY songs. And liszt’s range of impossible songs is endless. Ravel also has some pretty darn difficult songs
The most shockingly amazing piano playing I've ever seen.

Mind blowing! I´ve never heard this that beautiful!
The most extraordinary talent, quite astonishing.
It's not "Asian" that makes her an amazing musician. It's called talent and practice. haha
And as far as musicality and emotion, it's called "Flight of the Bumblebee" for a reason. Sure she could have played parts differently, but if you expect a romantic love painting full of emotion and expression from this piece, I'm sorry to say, you're in the wrong video. I'm sure at her caliber, she has her own interpretation and emotional input in each piece she plays. I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong (because everyone has his or her opinions) but everyone should just learn to simply enjoy and marvel at great talent.
First of, the Asian thing is a joke. You've either been under a rock your whole life or you are too dumb to comprehend. And I'm pretty sure talent wasn't even that helpful, I'm positive it's her parents that made her become so good.
The reason the Asian joke exists is because Asian parents strive to make their kid better because with the population in Asia, there is a lot more competition to be better
TheDifferentGuy l
But there is some truth in that Asian joke... as an Asian myself I have witnessed many Asian pianists who are all technique but no skill. However, Yuja Wang breaks that stereotype. Her other videos demonstrate how she excels in both technique and musicality. She is truly incredible!!!
@@shirleyhe4215 I agree. It's not "Asian" that makes her an amazing musician. It's "Asian parents".
I saw her do this very piece at around this time. 2008. It was astonishing. The control of the nervous system to coordinate those octaves is something. For those of us that play appreciate the difficulties all the more. I've heard most every great pianist of the last 120 years and she takes a back seat to nobody.
There are a handful of truly exceptional people in our world. She is one of them.
I nearly passed out. I hold my breath this entire time... then my jaw dropped, and hit the floor!!!!
this song gives me so much motivation to work harder at piano, and to make sure I focus on my weaknesses. love listening to this.
Mad skills, magnificent expression, technically perfect, astonishingly brilliant.
Wonderful! She has done so much for young people and music.
This woman plays genius level piano. I hope to see her play live someday. She is truly astounding and I see a lot of emotion in her playing. It's exquisite.
The arrangement she performed was by Gyorgy Cziffra, so cziffra did it originally, she replicated it very well.
My goodness. I just got stung. Ouch !!!! Bravo. Greetings from USA

@@mariapap8962 don't be rude
This lady is my favorite female pianist. She has the talent and the drop-dead gorgeous looks to hold my attention. I especially enjoy listening to her play the Turkish March. Her style is unique to her, but some people criticize the way she plays it because she does not conform to their close-minded understanding of how the Turkish March should be played.
unhuman. What a masterful play!
I can't even think about hitting the wrong notes that fast.
The song was fast enough already!! The fact that she made it even faster is just...*Wow*!!
Absolutely spectacular.
Fantastic playing. And that was an encore.
Wang Yuja... Perfection.
OMG, I never thought anyone could play it that fast. Fantastic.
This is so incredible. And the speed reminds a lot of a swarm of bees
The light, crisp tone of those last few notes ❤
Such a speed with amazing musicality
Lots of people are bullshitting about how unmusical this is. Good for you, now look at the sheet music and realize that she is literally playing chromatic octaves. You're seriously hopeless if you think that this is the correct piece to comment about musicality. It's like comparing any of chopin's nocturnes to a chromatic scale. The piece is called flight of the bumblebee, bumblebees make an annoying buzzing sound and I certainly hear a lot of buzzing. I don't listen to this and expect to hear Richter's interpretation of Prokofiev's 5th piano concerto.
But do you really fail to enjoy and feel any admiration??? I can't believe it, unless you should be deaf or pedantic. Pray, excuse me if it is the case.
Performances like these usually split audience reaction between "Wow, that's humanely impossible! I'm so impressed" to "Wow, that's humanely impossible! It sounds like crap." We as listeners, onlookers, and critics have always given virtuosity the lowest-of-the-low reputation when evaluating performances, and I'm not quite convinced that we've done so for the most aesthetically virtuous reasons. We say things like "mere technique," "noise," "no substance," "boasting," and "only show." I seriously wonder if it's because of a subconscious, voyeuristic jealousy among us who only wish we could play with half the agility that we see here.
Regardless of anyone's aesthetic position, the amount of dedication, work, and sacrifice that goes into being able to play like this deserves positive recognition. It does not in the least sound like garbage, as some people have flatly stated. One may not think it fits their conception of "music-making," a term always vulnerable to the vicissitudes of individual taste, and that's fine. It's another thing entirely to dismiss this accomplishment en-masse as garbage and worthless. Sadly, it's more telling of a critic's lack of perspective than of any shortcoming of the performer.
Few people can play as fluidly as this, and the craft that Yuja Wang displays here deserves respect, despite whether or not one believes she's not musical.
finally, a pertinent point of view expressed coherently!
Thanks! :)
Trolls respect nobody.
