    P.S. I also love and appreciate the realness of this video (ie. running out of thread, changing a 'marking' on the fabric of where to stop sewing, etc.)... and that you kept all that in the video as it shows us that everyone, even the professionals, can make an oopsie...but more important, how to not freak out,... and how she goes back calmly, fixes the problem, and moves on...like it is normal!

    Thanks again Corey for another awesome video. I have made bindings with a piping in it. Love them, but especially your explanation on how to do them. Picked up more tips. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who has fussed over getting the stitching on the machine binding just right. I keep trying 2 ½ in bindings widths to 2 1/4 in to 2". I've found it does depend on the project itself too. Thanks for keeping it real. Either way, in the end, your work is beautiful!

    I just love how you sew slowly and carefully! So many tutorials stitch at 1500 spm. I can't be accurate at that kind of speed. It's good to see an expert sew at a "careful" speed.

    just so all of you know, there is a difference between ironing and pressing. She mentions that she is pressing The binding from the back over to the front when indeed she's actually ironing.
    When you iron you have a greater chance of stretching your fabric vs.pressing. When you are pressing the iron does not move. If you really want to get a flat seam, you will spray with sizing and then press with your iron, then use a clapper over top the area for just a few seconds. You will not believe how flat your seams will be.
    also she actually is using the Wonder clips incorrectly. They were designed to have the one flat side for a reason, the flat side sits better on your table top as you are sewing. 😀👍

    • @mariamcphail
      @mariamcphail 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I disagree with the use of the wonderclips in this instance. The flat side of the clips keeps the binding nice and flat when you're rolling it over to be sewn whereas, the rounded side could cause the binding fabric to be looser and, therefore, giving it the opportunity to shift while sewing. It definitely works much better for me this way but, as Kimberly Jolly says, "you do you".

    • @dcwatashi
      @dcwatashi 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mariamcphail I actually use glue 90% of the time now. I will glue down my binding and use the Wonder clips to hold it in place and then continue sewing maybe the next day to give the glue sufficient time to dry

    • @mariamcphail
      @mariamcphail 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve tried glue too but I’m too impatient to wait for it to dry 😁

    • @dcwatashi
      @dcwatashi 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mariamcphail there's usually something else that I can do or cut some other fabric or have lunch vacuum there's always something I can do while it dries.
      And I usually will use an iron to speed up the drying process. And I think it also depends on what brand of glue you are using. But yes if you're in a hurry or you only have so much time, then glue might not be answer.
      I had to make several pillowcases last year and the trim and the cuff were not lining up precisely and it was driving me crazy. When I use the glue it was just awesome. Because that fabric wasn't going anywhere 👍😁😂

      Isn't it wonderful how we all have our own way of doing things and it still comes out beautiful! This video is a great illustration of that.
