Yeah he's so much a chameleon he never gets the credit he deserves because nobody recognizes when its Gary Oldman. This man has also played Dracula, serius black, Lee Harvey oswald , churchill ect.
Gary Oldman was meant to play Commissioner James Gordon in The Dark Knight Trilogy 🙂! He really nailed it and he did an unique and amazing performance :)
Oldman probably loves this because it’s a solid and subtle bit of classic character work - establishing motivations, seeding callbacks - even the closing line is a Chekhov’s Gun that’s there for fans but also services the film later on - to help demarcate how far the characters will have come when it’s referenced later in the hospital Down to the choice of having Gordon pull a chair round to Dent’s desk - even that tracks as a piece of character work - it makes Gordon appear supplicant, but also foreshadows his good sense - Gordon is coming to Dent for help, he recognises that it requires a team effort to achieve their goal while Dent is out there alone mounting a public crusade built on ego and moral authority that ultimately makes him a target - it’s a stage setter and I think Oldman had a lot of fun with the nitty gritty of what may otherwise have been a pretty drab bit of plot set up
Also notice that Gordon's eyes keep looking that the money that Dent is holding in his hands. A test of how trustworthy Dent is, maybe? Seeing if he would pocket the bills or return them to Gordon.
Gary Oldman was actually considered for the role of Ra's Al Ghul. But instead, he was chosen to play Commissioner Gordon instead. He usually plays the villain in a lot of films, but it was nice to see him play a hero for once.
@@tylerdavis6919 I made an error: He was actually considered for the role of Ra's Al Ghul, not Scarecrow. But yeah, he would have made a terrifying Scarecrow if he had chosen the role.
After seeing Gary oldman play such unredeemable characters like his crooked police lieutenant in the Professional, it was awesome watching his heroic incorruptible Jim Gordon. Still the best for me.
I love this scene as well. Many would find it insignificant, but I don't. This scene really gives Dark Knight the touch of 'Heat' (Michael Mann's movie), a crime detective action drama. Loves everything about it, the environments, even the glimpse of police sirene's sound at the beginning of the scene.
Ik everyone knew this movie cause Heath's performance as Joker just stole the movie, but we forgot the incredible cadre of actors who did just as amazing like Gary Oldman
This scene is way more important than more people realize. It sets up the painful encounter between Gordon and Dent at Gotham Mercy later on where Dent insists on his Name from MCU being told to him, that being Two-Face.
The voice & score audio is very poor in this scene, the Dark Knight (2008) has places where the audio is just downright poor. Nobody has the balls to admit it. This is amongst my least favourite scenes from the movie.
oldman is a chameleon. perfect casting
Yeah he's so much a chameleon he never gets the credit he deserves because nobody recognizes when its Gary Oldman. This man has also played Dracula, serius black, Lee Harvey oswald , churchill ect.
Am i the only one who thought he had a different voice in batman begins and dark knight
@@Beans360Don't forget his role as Norman Stansfield in Leon The Professional was absolutely amazing, one of the best villains in the movie history
@@drdisrespect9549 tbf Leon is the one of the few roles he gets recognised as Gary Oldman. Great performance though.
@@Beans360 i didint recognize him as sirius black
When I saw this....I remember not even realizing it was Gary Oldman until halfway thru the damn film.
Same! Except I didn’t realize until the final scene...
Didn't you watch the first film?

I know watching a scene from this, then from Eli, than from True Romance in sequences just shows his range!
@@SomeoneIsAlwaysMovingOnTheSurfdon't forget Sid and Nancy, the film wasn't that good, but the Gary Oldman was amazing in it
He is the Joker of Leon The Professional
It took me till last year to realize the bookshelf at 0:41 is another instance of Harvey’s two half’s. One’s organized the others not
bravo nolan
@@ambrosiaplatypusDont forget the film crew, the director is not the only one with ideas
Oh my god how could I've missed that.

If that’s true wow. he would be a terrifying scarecrow.

Ironically normally Liam Neelson plays the good guy. So it was pretty shocking he ended up as the villain
@@snakeshadows6993 Didn't Gary himself said it was Scarecrow (not Ra's)?
I love his last scene with Harvey so much. Great actor!
He is just perfect as Gordon.

How do you know what ''many'' think about it at all? Want to set up yourself as ''special''?
I like that this scene implies Gordon coined the Two-Face name. His expression in the hospital scene seems to confirm this.
This film is FULL of amazing performances. I think Aaron Eckhart should get more credit than he does for his performance as Dent.
a fantastic actor for a fantastic movie
Is it just me or was the sound way too low?

SIRIUS BLACK .
Oldman deserves a knighthood.
Best actor to play Gordon
It’s taken me 15 years to realize this is the same man that played Zorg. Crazy how fast time flies and the magnitude of an actor Gary Oldman truly is.
The only ''crazy'' thing about any of this is how long it took you to realize that it was Gary Oldman in both roles...
The casting in tgis saga was LEGENDARY!!!!
"Watch carefully Dimitri. Its my favorite movie secene"
First result for "gary oldman the dark knight" and it's only got 2902 views? tf
Garry‘s Performance was damn underatted, not as good as the Heath Ledger’s, but definitely above average
Imo Gary’s acting is just as good.

One of my two favorite characters he was which the other character is Sirius Black
This movie is still Nolan's best script.
Without a doubt. I literally never get bored during this film because the writing and dialogue are top-notch.
How is this man NOT Ned DIDDLY Flanders right now?!
what was about MCU ?? I didn't quite catch that at the end..
The MCU is Gordons police unit and the name Harvey said they were calling him was "Two face"
