Gary Oldman is arguably the best actor of his generation.
No arguably. He is.
False. Daniel Day Lewis is.
I'd go with that list too.@@SirJamesthePaul
There's no "arguably"!
I agree with you 1000% .
Gary Oldman's performance in the Dark Knight is the most underrated part of that movie. People forget it because it's not flashy and loud but he nails every single emotional beat. He's second only to Ledger in that film.
For real. He's the perfect Jim Gordon. He doesn't do too much crazy, but his character feels so real and valuable. If Batman is the Frodo of that trilogy, then Gordon is the Samwise.
He's one of those characters who totally flies under the radar but then you realize; _every single time_ the catastrophe was at its harshest, he's always right there next to Batman taking the Ls with the Ws, _every time._
He and Michael Caine were the two performances that kept the movies mostly grounded. They were the reason the movies had a veneer of believability about them.
A rare understated role by Gary
Dude, don't sleep on Aaron Eckhart...
His voice change is insane
Wow, not only is he a fantastic actor but a great dad too. All the traveling he did just to be with his sons. He has my respect.
He had me at Dracula. His best role for me. I'm glad he cleaned up his life many years ago and got sober. He's one of the greats in acting and I hope someday the Academy will give him a Lifetime Achievement Award while he's still with us.
Brilliant role; buried all other Dracula actors (see what I did there?). But I'm partial to IMMORTAL BELOVED as his primo role.
My favourite Dracula is Duncan Regehr, from the monster squad.
Garry was awesome though, no doubt about it.
Same
My absolute fave movie of his!
Slow Horses is possibly the best show currently on any streaming service and Gary Oldman is amazing in it.
It’s going to be one of those shows that the masses discover in 5 years when it’s over. Like Breaking bad or True Detective season 1. And I’m happy with that, it means they keep it fresh and doesn’t become monotonous with 15 seasons and a Christmas special every year.
Great show. I binge watched three seasons in 3 days. But without Gary Oldman it'd be at least 50% less interesting to watch. Like watching House M.D. without Hugh Laurie. :)
Hands down, one of the greatest of all time.
I ran into Gary with the middle 2 at a fast food stop along the 5 in California and his sons were so well dressed and stylish, I had noticed them and how beautiful they were before Gary came out of the bathroom. What a beautiful family. I didn't have the heart to bother him but just delighted in his glow from two tables away.
Gary Oldman is a legend!!!
Mr. Oldman's performance as Sirius Black was so nuanced, that in franchise blessed with many fine actors, his performance added a depth, pathos, and layering of experience, that became the franchise's grace note. In the Dark Knight he turned Commissioner Gordon whose characterizations rarely went beyond the stereotypical cop, into a real, vulnerable person conflicted with the extraordinary events he was experiencing. I am always excited to see his work, and look forward to his future projects.
Wow. And I thought I could not love Gary Oldman more than I already do. Guess I was wrong.
Wow! The responsibility of having kids really makes you do what can seem impossible for some🙏🏾 I applaud him for that
Right! Because no one has ever overcome impossible odds without having children!
I love that he included his step son as one of his “boys”
Gary Oldman IS the best actor in my humble opinion! He has covered all aspects of acting and so many character choices that he nailed every time! :D
I loved every single moment of Mr. Oldman in the movie "The Fifth Element". He was immense.
He is absolute amazing in that one. Some of his delivery is so hillarious.
My favorite movie of all time
I know this tune… lets change the beat 😂
@@karenielsen4713 so many great one liners!
@@andregonzales04 I actually tried several times to recreate the ZF-1 in cardboard and tape :D Coolest weapon ever!
I absolutely love this man. Hands down, one of the very, very best character actors EVER.⭐🐏
Good on him for being so dedicated as a single dad. Love Gary Oldman. "Bring me everyone....... EVERYYYYYONE!!!!!!!" Still sends chills up my spine every time I hear it.
Ha, yeah line readings don't get much better than that : )
She keeps invading his personal space😆😆
he's close to her as well .
@@dfangirl72Drew will make her move soon
God I know my husband thinks I have some grandpa fetish but I’ll forever love me some Gary Oldman.
Yes he’s handsome
If the movie has Gary in it, Im going to see it. I love how he's such a mellowed out sage now. He seems genuinely happy. I love his new character in Slow Horses but I keep wanting to take him home and give him a good scrubbing and a hug. Long Live Gary Oldman.
The best actor, so diverse and natural
He should have won an Oscar for DRACULA
His maniacal eyes in Leon still getting me nervous.. absolute masterpiece for years to come
Gary Oldman truly is an incredible actor and one of my favourites.
He's also a shining example of why the UK needs to do better and letting in more working-class actors, rather than the privately educated ones who come from privileged backgrounds (with all due respect to them) since actors like Oldman have said that if they were to do it all over again today, they wouldn't stand a chance because of how 'expensive' it is just to survive whilst you're building a career.
Wow. To have the ENORMITY of the talent he has and to be so self-effacing and such a good Dad. My heart! Love him even more.
Such a talented actor with a kind and loving heart... Greatest actor of today 👍
Gary Oldman doesn't exist there is no Gary Oldman only Bram Stokers Dracula 👏😂
I wonder how many guests get freaked out by how up close and personal Drew gets? And all the touching? Personal space Drew!
I know! That's the first thing that made me cringe. And she's so loud so close.
But then, she probably pre-interviews the guests and gives them a heads-up on her personal style. Probably for reasons to separate her from other talk shows - ?
True... Very True
Yes I was actually so distracted by that xD I kept thinking about how if I was him I would unconsciously find myself moving away
He is my all-time favorite actor, I'm so happy for his success and happiness. I love how casual Drew is while chatting with him as well.
He's my favorite as well.
One the greatest actors working today. The man is so versatile. He’s the male Meryl Streep.
Just when i thought he was an incredible actor turns out he needs a awesome dad award too. He can just play any role like a champ. Loved him in true romance
He’s my fave actor!
He is an EXCELLENT actor. Blew my mind in Darkest Hour and luv luv luv Slow Horses.
I feel like drew is sitting aggressively close to him. She looks like she’s trying to stare into his soul
This brilliant man is one of the last of his kind💔
My favorite on-screen godfather, Padfoot
One of my all-time favorite actors. Can do anything. Extremely underrated.
One of my favorite actors ever 🖤
Love you Drew and Any honest real person. Gary Oldman is a treasure too ♥️
Gary said "the first batman" saved him. That means he's talking about Batman Begins, not The Dark Knight. Just saying.
Gary Oldman is an extremely talented actor (5th Element, Apes film, Professional, Dracula, Book of Eli!!!) and Drew is so personable and her nature kindly invites her guest to talk about whatever. I just found this channel and I will be watching more!
One of the best actors ever.
Amazing actor, amazing human being.
Love him on Slow Horses!
If you've never looked really, really, REALLY closely at Oldman's performances, you're missing out on the fact that beyond just being an exemplary actor, he's WAAAYYY more. The work he puts into what you do *not* see might be equivalent to what you do. I only wish that actors such as he and others like him weren't left hanging in the wind by corporate clowns, rich CEOs, greedy production executives, and other megalomaniacal narcissists.
I love him ❤
Soooo underrated ! I loved him in Leon. He is so good !
First time seeing him was in Leon. Best villain i’ve seen in movies at the time.
God bless single parents ❤
Gary Oldman's movie he wrote and directed 'Nil By Mouth' is a masterpiece. It is unbelievable looking back how ahead of its time it was stylistically. Doing things with the camera and overlapping dialogue that is all over the Safdie brothers work... It also stars his sister, and features the c-word more than any other film in history..
He is great and still very relevant unlike the other actors and actresses named by others, watch slow horses and see how he still has everything he had back in the day.
Didn’t know he is such a wonderful human being. Props to you my friend
"I've crossed oceans of time to find you"
He's great ...loved Drexel the Pimp. Drew is a shrieking owl
he nailed every single character he ever played
Drew, bless her heart, is a CLOSE talker. Good grief.
The first interview I've EVER seen of Gary Oldman. I'm now extremely impressed with him as an actor since I find the real him completely unrecognizable from any of his roles. He isn't even remotely similar to his characters. Furthermore, if I just listened to his voice in this interview I wouldn't even know who it was. I had a similar experience with Christian Bale. The first time I saw him in an interview I was shocked to find out he was actually British. He had an American accent in all his roles I've seen, and did it so convincingly I always though he was American.
What a fantastic beautiful show. Most calm and filled with love. You two look grand! Drew, your amazing! And that sofa, love it! Beautiful show❤ 4:10
Gary playing Sirius Orion black 3 is one of the greatest Slytherindors of all time besides harry James Potter
Woah! Didn’t even recognize him and he has a 34 year old son?! Damn. One of the best actors ever.
I like him even he mostly play antagonist characters ❤
When Gary quits acting, a legend of the film industry will have gone with the greatest performances ever, and if I could highlight a Gary's performance, it would be definitively his Norman Stanfield's character in Leon The Professional where he became the movie's star despite the fact he was the supporting actor. Besides, the reason why he became the real star in that movie because of his famous scene in which he says EVERYONE.
We love gary oldman and drew barrymore
So friendly show...Drew does IT her best! ✨💫☀️🤍
One of my favorite actors!
So great in everything but I love him in Slow Horses. 'I'd murder a coffee. Any good canteen in this gaff?'
If you wrote down a list of Gary Oldman’s great performances just imagine how long that list would be! Only other actor with a comparable long list might be Anthony Hopkins
I am so in love with Gary Oldman! He's such a captivating and talented actor, and a pure joy to watch. ❤
Gary Oldman in the programme "slow horses" is exceptional talent. I am seeking the writing/screen play of the programme as its pure genius.
Such a gentleman Gary Oldman and a fabulous actor!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Please somebody bring a project that has Gary, and gets Daniel Day Lewis out of retirement. Maybe Bradley Cooper.
His Best role was in “Leon - The Professional”
He's a fantastic actor..I loved his role in Dracula!
We all believe they live like royalty sometimes because of their income, but they struggle the regular lifestyle situations like anyone else.
Really enjoying Slow Horses 🐎 thanks to this man's character
Happy 66th Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 Gary Oldman (Jim Gordon actor).
I just love Gary Oldman. He never gets he praise he deserves.
Gary Oldman is one of my favorite actors! Check him out in "Dracula!" He's such an excellent actor! ❤😊🎄
Favorite Gary Oldman role is in True Romance. A great example of his versatility.
@@robertturi2264 He plays Drexl Spivey so well, it's ridiculous how good he is lol.
My favourite actor of all time.
loved gary old in immortal beloved, his transformation to play beethoven was incredible. such an underrated movie.
It starts with love and it ends with love. Don't fill the in between with hate. Wow
He seems like a really chill dude
Is it just me or does she invade his personal space?
From Leon to Slow Horses, what an amazing body of work. Thank you Gary.
Wow....I remember watching Oldman in old movies before his latest mainsteam films and he was awesome. (charisma, method, almost outcast characters): romeo is blleding, state of grace; ...and of course "Leon" and Dracula.....allways a pleasure watching him act
I’m middle school student in Korea. I like Gary Oldman so l am learning English but English isn’t my native language so I don’t understand mostly 😢😢l think Gary Oldman’s act is wonderful! Thank you for posting this video!❤❤
Can anyone tell what his shirt says?
I'm trying to see that as well .i see the on top de on bottom
Yes for him to say thanks for and to Harry Potter ❤😂🎉😢😮😅
Slow horses is amazing
With that hair, I thought that was Jeff bridges for a split second lol.
Phenomenal actor with BIG WORDS!!!!
I love him awesome actor ❤❤❤😊
❤too cool 😎 way to go drew getting Gary Oldman as a guest on your show..."criminal law"187 and "sid and nancy"1986
Fun fact: Timothy spall aka Peter and Gary oldman aka Sirius both have the same middle name Leonard
Oldman not being completely honest - let’s not forget he was blacklisted by Hollywood for a number of years. It wasn’t because of the shift in the industry. That’s him rewriting his own past. Nolan saved his career and yes he was in Potter but let’s not forget yes he filmed in England but that’s because his name was poison in Hollywood.
Why was he blacklisted?
He's been in so many great movies! Cheers to one of the greats of this generation! This man is brilliant in slow horses! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Gary Oldman is my favorite!
After seeing him with a beard I'm certain he'd make a great Tom Bombodil.
Awesome person and very very beautiful woman ❤❤❤❤❤❤
And he was the best version of Gordon. He doesn't do too much crazy, but his character feels so real and valuable.
_Every single time_ the catastrophe was at its harshest, he's always right there next to Batman taking the Ls with the Ws, _every time._ He shot down the train; he carried through on Batman's coverup; and while Batman was off running distraction on Bane's goons, Gordon was the one who disarmed the bomb in the nick of time.
Without making any pretenses, the guy's always there when he's needed and eventually it dawns on you, Jim was the main character the entire time.
Tl:dr Jim Gordon is the Samwise Gamgee of the Dark Knight trilogy.
Gary Oldman. ❤❤❤❤❤❤ Love his filmography.
Wow Gary Oldman the sacrifice for his kids amazing
