I’m extremely excited bro I’ve always been a horror fanatic but never played silent hill except 4. Silent hill is just different than most horror where it’s about monsters and blood. Here. It’s way more psychological and meaningful and sad.
I personally don't see how anyone can be excited for this game. I know you said you're a fan of Silent Hill 2, but have you played it recently? How do you make things less sexualized when it comes to a story about a mentally unstable sexually repressed man? Most people don't see the issue with this. They're altering the story and vision of the original. It's not 85% perfect. Or 98 perfect exactly the same. You even said it yourself, "if bloober doesn't change the story, and it keeps it 1 to 1, then we literally have nothing to worry about". We're past that point. Bloober has and always will be a shit company making terrible horror games with terrible messages. I think you let your excitement from the trailer cloud your judgement and didn't think rationally at all.
i played it about a year ago for another video that you can find on my channel. and for the record, i meant that if the story doesn't change we have nothing to worry about but i'm ok with some changes. all as long as they don't stray from what the original is saying and what it's themes are. a character redesign isn't enough to make me worried.
Well, I agree with your first statement. SH2 was one of the three games that made me consider videogames as a an art form. my only issue is the lack of ambition shown for gameplay/mechanics systems. There's too much potential to elevate the whole experience.
the reboot has nothing psychological in it, and is far from the source material. it's nothing like the original, and it's not scary anymore. @@Luis-rp2lm
I might get some crap for this but I actually really like the idea of what they did with Angela's dialogue and let me explain. Unless this is a bait and switch and the scene in the trailer of her saying, "I'll be good, I promise. Tell him I'll be good please." is not connected to the abstract daddy fight though one would assume it is and could just be one a a few scenes alluding to her story before finally facing off with with the Abstract Daddy monster. It does look as though the Abstract Daddy fight is getting a overhaul, (Which it should.) I see no reason why Angela's story shouldn't be hinted at leading up to your encounter with AD and we never actually see anything about her brother who we also know abused her as well. So I actually have hope for this as in the original game I completely missed all the signs of what happened to Angela up to the AD fight. (And I've played through that game 4 or 5 times and I still think it's not properly established leading into the fight. I understand not being so open with what ACTUALLY happened, but real set up that her father was a real POS and we still have her brother to figure out as well.) As far as the "Reap what you sow" line, I have no idea why anyone has an issue with this. it looks to be in either the hospital or the prison based on what little we see of it. Even if it's in the apartments or hotel it makes no difference to the reveal at the end of the game. However in the original game between the hospital and prison on a wall there is a very different message that conveys the same meaning. ""If you ReaLly want to sEE Mary, you shOUld just DiE. But You might be hEadiNg to A diffErent place than MARY, James." So in the original game there were hints at the half way point that James was a bad person. BTW, the odd capitalization in that message can be taken and rearranged to spell out, "I NEED YOU MARY BE REAL" I agree that the ground attack animations don't look good and James hair is too bright in some places of the game. but these are honestly pretty easy things to fix with post release patches. (I'm not saying we should have to rely on post release patches but they do have their place and as a whole, I think gaming is better for having them over getting broken games that stay broken indefinitely) as far as character models go, James looks great, Maria looks fine, Laura looks fine, Angela was wasn't too big on at first but after looking at her more and considering her back story she looks someone I know personally as much as I hate to say this, the woman I'm thinking of is insecure, has serious doubts about herself, and has zero self worth. Something that makes a lot of sense for Angela's character and frankly, she really shouldn't be a babe. In the trailer I think some places are a little to bright but it looks to me like the dev team might have turned up the gamma brightness to maybe show off this game. It does no good to draw in a crowd when the entire game is too dark to really make out what you're looking at. I've stood behind Bloober Team from the beginning and every single time I see more content my faith is rewarded. during the announcement trailer nearly 2 years ago I saw a lot of people on the fence. When the combat trailer was released a few months back I saw a ton of people complaining about that, since then I have seen a lot of those people come around after the reveal of this trailer. SH2R is going to be compared to the RE remakes just as SH has always been compared to RE back on the ps1 and ps2 days. SH1, 2 and 3, all used the same gameplay mechanics, camera angles, and tank controls that RE1, 2 and 3 used. It wasn't until RE4 came out in 2005 and revolutionized survival horror into what it is today. that's partly why SH fell off so hard was because it didn't buy in to the new standard and decided to go it's own way with each new installment. Meanwhile games like Dead Space, Evil Within, Alan Wake, The Last of Us, and many others all followed the same over the shoulder shooter framework established by RE4 and improved on by RE5 and plateauing with RE6 before being re worked into what we see today with the RE remakes, But again, RE2R, RE3R, and RE4R all still follow in the footsteps that have been established to work all the way back in 2005 with RE4. If we're being honest, when RE5R, RE6R, RE1R, RE0R, and Code Veronika Remake all come out they they will all also very much likely follow the same framework. Silent Hill was at it's best when it played similarly to Resident Evil but stood out by actually being scary. So why not just lean into that instead of trying to reinvent the Wheel. We saw this with the Marvel vs DC movies. Marvel laid out a plan for an interconnected cinematic universe and rather then lean into what was proven to work, DC put the cart before the horse and tried to reinvent the wheel by doing it's own thing.
Hell even I don't see the problem with the combat. Looks fine I don't see what people are talking about. He swings, it connects. Monster stumbles. Rinse and repeat. Looks good imo
@@mrplayfulshade I think the combat looks good. Even if it was "bad" it wouldn't be an end all beat all for the game. I only had a little nit pick about the swinging animations from their second trailer and it was because James only seemed to have 3 animations that were used in the same order every time we see a scuffle. It's an easy fix and could easily be fixed with post release patches. It looks like it's already been corrected and James has maybe between 4 to 7 swinging animations. I was worried about the games atmosphere if anything. That can be a hard one to get down even if you know what you're doing. There is a reason we've never gotten a game to feel the same as SH2. We've certainly gotten games that feel like Silent Hill but never Silent Hill 2 specifically. I think they did a spectacular job from what we've seen so far.
I honestly feel the same way, I think this is a massive improvement from what we saw in January. My only major concern is perfomance on the PS5. I noticed ghosting in the gameplay trailer, and I hope to god this isn’t another Calisto protocol incident. It needs to be at its best performance wise otherwise it won’t stand a chance against “the fans”
I haven't played the original SIlent Hill 2, but I've seen tons of others play it and I'm scheduled to play it for a Halloween video later this year. But to me, I haven't seen a single reason to doubt this remake. It is a horror game being developed for our modern age of gaming. Trends are different now, and mechanics and functionality have obviously changed. It resembles the Resi 2&3 and the Dead Space remakes, and that's definitely on purpose. They're still being faithful to the original concept in the mysteriousness and ambiguousness that the game exuded. But it has elements and additional appeal provided by recent gameplay trends, and there's nothing wrong with that. This is still going to be a game that makes me nervous to proceed. Like, I will have a hard time playing this game, and I look forward to that. I appreciate your thoughts, they're similar to what I thought when I saw these trailers. I hope the hype drowns out the criticism in the end.
That scene with Angela is definitely from the Abstract Daddy fight. Which by the way, Angela right after does lines just as straight forward as you hear in that scene. Context matters.
From my understanding, it's not the team itself people have issues with since as we can see from the artistic side of things they are very talented and care about trying to faithfully recreate Silent Hill and expand upon the atmosphere. The issue people have is the changes caused by the consulting firm that has expressed no awareness nor care to or for Silent Hill 2, much less its lore, and the changes this consulting firm has made the development team do that are antagonistic towards the central themes and story of Silent Hill 2. I think Mary is the second most brought up example for the antagonistic relationship to the themes of Silent Hill 2, given what she's supposed to be in the original isn't really being matched with her redesign in the trailer. It's also why people bring up the character designs so much, since all of the women shown in the trailer show the same problems that are known to be tied to the consulting firm, which normally should bode anxiety for fans since this does give indications there will be censorship of the story and degrading of the characters due to them being left to have their final drafts written by people who don't know and don't care about either that also have made clear they are already influencing the development of the game through character designs, which is second to their purpose of rewriting scripts for "insensitivite topics and dialogue" in games.
@@Sputnik34 It's not about looking good enough or not as an individual situation, it's about acknowledging the reason why the characters had their initial designs they did in Silent Hill 2. You can't have James without the repression, and you can't say its faithful when you have Mary (and the nurses come to think of it) no longer represent that. You even mention your own concerns about mishandling of characters. Can any of the main characters really be handled correctly if they're showing they're trying to remove that core part of Silent Hill 2?
We're the same age, and I really relate to what you're saying! Thank you for bringing a positive perspective to the game. I think it looks amazing. Bloober Team is under a lot of pressure from all sides-both from the toxic part of the fandom that will never be satisfied and probably from Konami as well. That can't be easy, and I feel for them. It may not be exactly how we imagined, but it's looking pretty damn good. I never thought we would get this remake in the first place. ❤
maybe because they pissed on the source material while they clearly stated multiple times that they stay respectful to it ? they would call this REBOOT instead of REMAKE which it isn't then it wouldn't get so much hate, because we would understand that the devs aimed at a resident evil type of game not a silent hill. the psychological horror aspect is completely gone due to a shitload of factors, but nowadays people enjoy eating disgusting trash, and still call it good. laughable
@@bombastik_bombthe fuck are you talking about? Bloober is being nothing but respectful to the original game. What, because they gave Maria a jacket "OMG THEY RUINED THE GAME FOREVER AND EVERRRE!!1!1" grow the fuck up.
The only changes the game needs are: improve some animations, improve some facial designs and consistency, make some places a bit darker and make it so you feel you "are" in the fog, instead od the fog being in front of you. And please just don't change the story, amd keep Maria's outfit the same. Small changes that could bring the game to another level
haha i been a silent hill fan since 90s on ps1 when my dad bought it at target dude, thank Jesus we are getting to replay the best horror game of all fucking time! Sigma male James killing demons of hell!
I've only played Silent Hill 2 the hd remaster when I was younger and I still loved it despite all the negativity it got anyways this definitely looks like a step up but still worried about the voices I'm definitely still hyped this is definitely either going to be the end or the beginning of bloober team and might also be the deciding factor on if we ever get other remakes so here is hoping it does well
The combat with the nurses looks insane, (@5.58) one of them actually takes 2 quick mini steps towards you while she winds back the pipe before launching at you THEN she GRABS your pipe and starts belting you from the other hand. They can also hop over barriers, I love that Come ON that is mental. There is so much about what they showed that has me super excited. Day 1!!
Intro got me. Been a fan since I was 11 and I’m now 32. I’ve been through it all with this series and I feel you. Cant express enough how unexcited I am about all this silent hill revival
I'm pretty hyped for it. I always loved silent hill's aesthetic, I'm just hoping Konami doesn't mess it up- or somehow integrate their slot machines in the game...

@@kahlilbt I just know how to read and observe when a studio says "stay faithful to the source material" while it is not at all, but people will eat low quality products. go watch the video I recommended, and laybe you will understand a bit better why this reboot is a reboot and not a remake. they butchered the game completely.
It's mindboggling to me that in our day and age... people feel the need to give long disclaimers and warnings before saying something positive. THAT is terrifying to me. I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said!
same age as you man and I can't wait for the game, I love Silent Hill 2, it's one of my favorite games ever. My literal only thing is that I wish they didn't de-hoe-ify Maria. I want her to be in her old outfit lol
Similarly, with your concern about that melee finisher, besides thinking gun ammo should be scarce, of course, gunshots should be loud, like realistically so. As a player, I should be scared to have to resort to my guns because I also risk attracting an extra enemy or two. By making the guns seem heavier as a combat choice, they, in turn, give the enemies a more intimidating factor. A trade-off that makes gameplay feel more tense. Do I use melee and kill quietly but risk getting hurt, or do I use a gun, less risk of getting hurt, and only waste two bullets, BUT potentially 4 or 6 if more enemies show
I genuinely don’t understand the backlash against Angela’s design. She looks and sounds like a realistic and normal depressed teenager. That’s the thing about Silent Hill. The people are just people, they’re not battle hardened soldiers (except for Homecoming kinda, but we know how that turned out), they’re not cops, they’re just people. Now Maria’s design? It bothers me. Her sexualization was a big part of her character, and her reason for existing in the story. By de-sexualizing her, you take away from her character.
i kinda sorta wish we still had the other camera mode so we had more of a cinematic vision of what’s happening which is what the creators intended for the original ones but that’s just one thing next to the entire number of things there is to celebrate
Unrelated to the video, but I wanted to say, keep the quality content coming sputnik you’re genuine as f*** ^_^ you deserve to grow, so keep it goin ❤️
Love your take on this. I'm just as excited, and it looks like it's gonna be so fun. I'm an OG fan from the beginning and I know I'll nit pick a few things but overall as long as the game feels and plays like silent hill I'm all in. And I hope they get a high score on this remake to save silent hill once and for all
Finally a positive take on the game! All the negative bashing based on the limited footage given prior has been incredibly tiring. I honestly think it looks amazing! Its a remake/reimagining and not a 1-1 so it will absolutely be making changes and taking liberties, but I think that will be for the best. I LOVE the original to this day but its very dated and needs to be updated, and I think that's exactly what they are doing here. Day 1 buy for me!
@@mr.sinjin-smyth Totally get that, I just think its a bit unfair to judge a WIP game based solely on trailers. Bloober has already made significant changes to the game from trailer to trailer so this to may change. I'll personally be reserving judgement for the final product but I can understand peoples reservations based on what is being shown.
Personally think that the interiors where its dark should be darker. The spread of light from the flashlight illuminates too much. In the original the flashlight had a much tighter focus leaving areas quite dark. The darkness gave a lot of feelings of dread and uneasiness being uncertain about what could be lurking in the shadows. I wish that they could nail that in the remake or maybe modding on the pc version could fix it
Hey man, what music did you use for this video? They're remixes of peace and serenity yet I cant find them. And I know you used the day of night at the half way mark
Nah sorry I’m still not convinced, and i don’t think i will be until i get my hands on it, recent gaming experience of the past few years has left a bitter taste
This may be anectdotal, but I think one place where a genuine improvement over the original game can be made here lies within the resource managment aspect of the game. SH2 is an incredibly easy game, and as far as combat goes, very low stress. The enemies are not dangerous at all in 2. Theyre slow, have no range, and kind of just let you wail on them without doing much about it. By the time I reached the hospital, I had handgun bullets in the tripple didgits, and never dipped below that again. The game also gives you tons and tons of healing items and higher tier ammo, but theres not really any enemies in the game that justify using that that ammo on save for the Abstract Daddies way later in the game, of which there really are not that many. By contrast, 1 also gives the player a lot of ammunition and healing items, but it actually makes you use them, and use a lot of them at that. The enemies are so much more dangerous and sufforcating to deal with. The Overworld is a good example, where the dogs and pterodactyls are fast, rather tanky, hyper aggresive, and best of all actually use the fog to their advantage by ambushing you, doing some damage, and the retreating into the fog again only to come back from a different angle later. Beyond that, the little baby things in the school have grab attacks that can combo you, there's the gorilla walking ass things in the later sections of the overworld who are just very fast and very tanky, and there's the monsters in the sewers who attack you from the cieling and actually show uo in more than one room (looking at you, flesh lips). By contrast, the nurses ind lying figures in SH2 just kind of shamble around, and get bored of you very quickly. You don't have to kill anything in the overworld because everything is so non threatening. The only time something can really force james to fight is when he's indoors and cornerd, otherwise your can just walk around them and kite them like theyre geriatric. This is where I find the trailer to be most promising, the combat looks great. Its visceral, urgent, and sloppy in a good way. People tend to dismiss Silent Hill as even being survival horror because 2 is so incredibly geanerous with its supplies, but 1 was thoroughly designed to drain your resources through the game. I think there should always be a real element of survival horror in any silent hill game, where you're truggling to stay topped uo on health and actually questioning if its even worth it to kill an enemy. Silent Hill 2 did not have this. I hope the remake will.
The character design and voice acting are my biggest issues. Angela's design is the most obvious issue with most people. There has been a trend and due to the behind the scenes video talking about making this for modern audiences to changing many characters looks to fit an agenda recently. There is a chance Angela was part of an agenda due to her appearance be drastically different from the original. The voice acting was much easier to spot with a differing opinion to the original game. Each character had specific emotions and tones of voice to express how they felt in the original, but in this game all characters presented sound the same with no way of understanding their personality. There has also been a connection to a consulting company found called DEI Detect with objectives saying they want to make sure no one becomes offended, which is impossible. We are unsure completely until the games comes out, but the red flags seen so far don't paint a pretty picture.
@@SlickD86denial is a strong thing lol it's obvious got a woke agenda otherwise Maria and Angela would have stayed the same as they did in the original
Just beat silent hill 2 on pc, its still scary and so immersive atmosphere, as for remake graphics are great but Angela face was not looking great in scenes they showed, needs improvement, atmosphere i don't know it looks kinda bright maybe tone it down to make scarier, anyway im gonna play remake but i don't think it will make huge impact as res 2 remake did, it definitely looks sh2 remake budget was not that high that's why we see these weaknesses here and there during gameplay, u gotta go higher in budget to make high quality that's just how it is, i would say the same for return to silent hill movie
Angela’s VA is so spot on! I can really hear Angela in her voice. It would be cool if they carried over her characterization from the original, showing how her experiences gave her traumatic conditions to the point of driving her mad with constant mood swings as she completely loses the ability to control her emotions. She develops fear, anger, and trust issues around men and projects it onto James. The game doesn’t explain exactly what happened but it shows how her horrible traumatic experiences have affected her. I think that type of dialogue would be reasonable in the remake.
@@mrplayfulshade I must have remembered incorrectly! This scene is the one I was referring to. I think more dialogue like this would be beneficial th-cam.com/video/-91danRdxjg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HGGHehTVr_cOznZb
@@MyTaintedInnocence Hah. That's right before the Abstract Daddy fight. That line makes total sense to be there. Although unless your a super fan like me you probably wouldn't catch that
I am so happy I found this video. I am a massive fan of the Silent Hill games, I think I like Silent Hill 1 the best since it's the first one I played and changed my life in terms of gaming forever, however, Silent Hill 2 took a lot longer for me to appreciate since it's quite deep and complex and now it's the best horror game ever made in my eyes. I've seen countless videos bashing this remake over the smallest nit picky things that I wonder if they're just trolls. I finally found a video that I 100% agree with. I also think it's around 80% perfect (although I do not expect 100%, 80% is still amazing considering what Bloober has done here). I also realize that the Silent Hill community has been in shitsville for a better part of a decade when it comes to Silent Hill games so I get the frustration. But I gotta call what I see and I really liked what I saw of the new Silent Hill 2 Remake gameplay trailer.
Only thing in the trailer I wasn't really crazy about was the way they presented the Abstract Daddy as like an almost Dead Space style monster when that's just not at all what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to be this massive disturbing thing you come across, lol. Now hopefully that was more of just the trailer presentation and the actual game is gonna present him more like the original.
As a new fan to the franchise, I am very excited to see what this game has to offer. Ever since the transmission was released, I'm seeing more hate than excitement, which is so sad to me. I'm so excited to play a new horror game that isn't Resident Evil. I loved everything that was shown and I have no problems with what everyone is complaining about. I think they're just hating to hate, honestly.
I think it looks pretty good as well. The line delivery is also pretty emotive too with how James and Laura interact. They didn’t show Eddie at all yet so hoping they didn’t cut him from the game. The combat looks better but combat was never meant to be like an action game.
I agree with you, it seems like a pattern that the only ones complaining about everything are the people that never actually played the game. Also I think they said there was going to be new areas and areas from the first game that weren’t in the 2nd one but im not 100% sure on that
I am starting to suspect that the loudest complainers not only haven't played the original game, but haven't even played the generation of consoles it came out on. Far too many people are saying the remake has "PS2/PS3 Graphics" and it has happened a time too many to simply put down to them being hyperbolic. While the graphics (IMHO) is a little off from current gen in some places, it clearly doesn't look like a PS2 game and anyone who is saying that clearly hasn't never played on a PS2
Thank you! I couldn’t agree more. I’m also the same age and played since SH1 in 99. I’m getting pissed off with these “Gatekeepers” who only discovered SH2 from TikTok or something. Needlessly nitpicking before the game is even out. I’m very optimistic about this remake, can’t wait. Roll on spooky season
Good take man agree with many points! I think the game people imagine in their heads as a perfect SH2 remake is impossible to do in 2024 and be commercially viable. This isn’t 2001 and this isn’t just a passion project that no one would care about if it failed. The bar is set way too high. If they got NaughtyDog to make the game it might feel more polished but I would predict the same issues would still be there. I don’t think there is a team out there that can make a 10/10 remake. I’m just hoping for a good, fun remake of a classic game I love. I am currently thinking Angela and Maria might be mishandled (James and Maria stopping to look at each other before entering the hospital is pretty cringe). But in this day and age I can’t expect a game to feel like it’s from 20 years ago.
This game looks really good! At this point, I think anyone still bashing this or labeling it as shit is just doing it because they think it’s edgy or they are just a miserable person and hate everything. This game looks fantastic
i love every thing that’s been showcased so far. my only nitpick is james voice. it doesn’t have that same melancholy feel like the original. i’m still gonna love the remake tho
The original is a timeless classic that will never be replaced. But I'm willing to give the remake a chance. It would be nice if it was actually good. And I agree, I think mostly the only issue is the animation. It's good, but not top tier. I think if the animation was on the level of The Last of Us 2, the game would probably be perfect. As for the story, it's still up in the air.
I am very optimistic on the front of the game. I think that no matter what, it cant please everyone, but as its own game, it looks great so far. The facial models and touchups seem to make sense. Bloober Team has my immense respect for doing what is a very hard job to do, which is retelling this game for a vast audience. Im very proud of them
Great video. But can you explain why Angela’s dialogue is bad? I think it perfectly captures her traumatic relationship with her father. But I’m interested to here your insight 😊
I do hope that it has like some kind of new game plus where u can keep all of your weapons. Imagine doing a full playthrough shambling around with the great knife LOL.
Idk, they seem to be borrowing design elements from other SH media in general. The orange rusty homecoming/movie look is jarring to see in sh2 specifically, roaches now in pack also a thing from the movie, barb wires and rusty chains...etc this aesthetic stands out to me in a bad way because sh2 actually goes against that design of the otherworld precisely because of James. His otherworld is unique in a way, it's wet, of decay, greenish mold-y. I like the look of the town but the otherworld looks jarring to me. The rusty hell-ish look is also overdone and cliched at this point.
Besides people complaining that the wind blowing the leaves "breaks immersion" and that they don't think Angela, an abused teenager, looks attractive in the remake, I gave up giving this people any credit. I do hope it brings lots of new fans to the series because some of the old ones are arseholes. I got it pre ordered, physical and the digital deluxe. I don't give a flying fuck about what the so called fans think.
People like you are why we don't get good games anymore you just "consoom product and get excited for next product" it was never about making Angela attractive its about the fact she looks like a man and the reason she looks that way is because they hired a consultancy group called Hit Detection which is basically another sweet baby Inc
The one reason I won’t buy this game is due to blooper team hiring hit detection. I agree the visual look good and I think the atmosphere is overall good as well. But my biggest problem is how they changed Maria, Maria is supposed to be wearing a revealing outfit not for fap material but because it’s important to the lore and James’s psyche. Not to mention how they altered the appearance of the nurses. Now if the game comes out and if the story isn’t ruined and the game is really really really enjoyable and it feels like a sh2 remake, I’d be willing to reconsider, maybe.
I liked the older look they had for James but then everything else looks… basically fine? Like except for the fucked up pricing scheme where I live - this seems like it’s going to be a good game - something you can’t ever be too sure about when it comes to Bloober - and no I ain’t talking about them “handling sensitive subjects poorly” but rather the fact they aren’t all that great at anything else than visual design.
No matter what Bloober does, the Silent Hill 2 remake project has a ton of reasons why people are gonna hatte it anyway: - Everyone loves to bully Konami - Everyone loves to bully Bloober Team - Silent Hill 2 is one of the three best horror games of all time, (SH2, Resident Evil 4 and Dead Space) so the remake has to fill HUGE shoes - The other two greatest horror games have gotten remakes in the past couple months and BOTH WERE GREAT! - However, Konami can't spend the same amount of money into a horror game, so it's unrealistic to expect the same kind of polishing for this as something like Capcom's RE4 Remake - The last actual Silent Hill game was released 12 years ago, so a lot of the people commenting didn't even play these games themselves but only informed their opinion on what other people said on youtube videos. And that's how you get some people saying stuff like (paraphrasing) "that attack animation looks way to controlled for a normal person like James. He's supposed to throw all his weight into a desperate attack!" While the next one would write "what's with that attacking animation? Why is he swinging around like an idiot. It looks so stiff." Under the excact same video. There were even tons of comments under the combad reveal trailer, that there is too much combat. Claiming that there never were three enemies on the same screen at the same time, while the excact scene in question in the pool is in the original game. And then there are others who now claim it's just a walking sim. No matter what, people won't be satisfied and will always claim that it's all just hot trash. And it also doesn't help that Bloober Team came out and said something like they will now make more action-oriented games from now on, which includes SH2. Bloober Team never made a game with combat in it before. Silent Hill 2 will be their first game with combat in it, so of course, from their perspective it makes sense to call Silent Hill an action game. But people read that line very differently and scream around how Bloober Team is messing this up and is making SH2 into an action game. In my personal opinion, the SH2 remake looks freaking amazing. I can't wait to explore Silent Hill again with this kind of fidelity. And the changes they made are really respectful and make sense. The only little thing I don't like is the westernizing of the character model art style. But they already made things a lot better with James' model. But I also disliked that about the Blue Point remake sof Shadow of the Colossus and Demon's Souls. And these were awesome too.
One thing fans don’t understand is that Silent Hill can’t do liminal/uncanny the way they used to. The graphics are too good and making that jarring switch from FMV to in game cutscene isn’t possible anymore, thus leading to people saying it looks too modern. Idk, just a thought I had…
being someone who recently played and enjoyed the go silent hill 2, the remake has a few things I don't entirely like about it. The main thing for me is the voice acting and dialogue. I felt in the first game the dialog flowed really well. Even though the dialog was cheesy, it was unsettling but let a massive amount of the cracks of the characters shine through. you can tell James is cold and distant, even when being told Mary was alive the previous year , there's a pause in disbelief. The modern dialog tried to modernize and abbreviate it. It doesn't flow well and feel like it belongs. Plus James In the og has a higher voice making it easier to portray emotion. Another thing is the redesign of maria. I feel having the exposed stomach portrays better who she is, as well as the tattoo on her stomach symbolizing transformation like her and Mary. The design removes the context. Angela does look silly and her dialog is what I dislike most compared to the original. Again the Dialog doesn't flow quite as well as the game. She doesn't sound as old as she did in the original, and she doesn't portray as much emotion as the original. It seems when she has a mental breakdown it's not as explosive as the original witch i feel takes away from the characters impact. Overall I feel the game will have less impact
I do not understand what people are on about with Angela. She looks like a normal person?? As if any of the PS2 renders looked any more realistic or made an important impact on the game.
I'll be honest, Silent Hill 2 is my favorite video game ever and has in my opinion, the best video game story ever told. Of course, I'm skeptical because of Konami and knowing how they are. However, I absolutely loved the trailer. I got somewhat emotional watching it to lol. Some of the "criticism" that I've been seeing getting thrown around is unfair and not really actual critiques (i.e. the game is "woke"). But of course, it's 4 months away so things could change for the better or for the worst. I'll definitely be playing this on launch.
I also think a lot of people have overblown the "sexualization" of the original. It was there, but it was subtle. People are looking at 15 minutes of the game, noticing theit pp is still soft, and derying the new one as unfaithful to the original. Watch the original trailers. Hardly sexy at all.
I love your opinion. People are crazy, complaining about Angela’s model - editing and posting photos of her with heavy makeup and a skinner face and body. What’s wrong with people ? Anyway, I won’t lie - I was nervous when that “combat trailer” released .. what I saw the last couple of days - I really like and feel much more excited about. Deluxe 48 Hours Day 1 Right Here. Oh, and I hope Maria gets her Christina Aguilera outfit for DLC. 😊
Given the scene I think is being shown, Angela saying "I'll be good, I promise. Please tell him I'll be good," is a rework of the "No daddy, please don't," line from the introduction to the Abstract Daddy fight. If that is the case, I don't really see an issue with what she says here. Now if it takes place earlier like in the hotel or something, then I share your concern. The RE vs SH comparison towards the end reflects my feelings on the two as well.
The only thing that bothered me was the blood splatter on the camera. Other than that I just want to roam around in those streets and soak in the vibes. And it would be very cute if Komami would release the original games again. But yeah, I've decided to be enthusiastic, and this trailer def did not offend me at all. Agree with you completely ❤
I'm totally sold after the new trailer. They might not nail every aspect, but it's not as if the original game is without problems. Specifically, I think the combat looks very good, and I'm really looking forward to exploring it on release.
Fans just like to overrate the OG a lot as if it was perfect, when in reality everything else besides the story and simbolism is mediocre, average at best, in comparison to the other games.
SH is my favorite series of all time. Been a fan for like 15 years now. What i absolutely hate about this demo is the characters. They all look sorry, scared and just lame. Angela looks so goofy with her huge head and neck out of proportions to her chest. Shoulders of all the characters are narrower then they should be, James with his head constantly tilted forward, Maria with her small torso big head and ass, everyone just look pathetic. Also, camera seem to be more free, which i also dislike, this very fixed camera is a big part of the gameplay, and this remake look more like Resident Evil. Also it seem more bright then the OG, not enough fog. Not gonna play it, imma keep the OG in my heart as it is thank you very much.
you know a remake is going to be good or at least solid if the purists are hardcore nitpicking lol. no way to know for sure till release. good take tho 👍
It's looking good to me too, I don't get the ppl who think the dialoge should be exactly the same or lose their shit because the radio location is different xD just take your pills
The purists from the original Silent Hill 2 will never be happy with any remake no matter how good it may be, that's my opinion anway. Objectively modern day combat and camera will be better than the original
They probably changed Angela Story. Honestly, the animations and the transitions from gameplay and cutscene need improvement. I respect who disagree, but i dont think that remake worth $70. Especially when you already seen what Capcom did with RE4R, and other remakes like Dead Space and Demons Souls and etc. I will only give this a chance when after reviews.
Yeah, I'll buy a copy...from the bargain bin or second hand, so it doesn't directly support the developers or Konami! There's something wrong with the animation of James opening doors 😬
I hope it's good. I'm just worried this game will treat us like children. With hand holdy gameplay. I'm fine with them changing things. It seems stiff, the vibe feels off, wish they didn't use real actors & instead took more artistic liberties to achieve a eerie somethings off sorta vibe. Hopefully they don't go the direction where they don't want to make people uncomfortable because this game is meant to make people uncomfortable. If they aren't okay with creating a uncomfortable inappropriate game then they really picked the wrong team to make a game such as this. There are ways many things can be changed and still hold the same core of this game. I hope they find ways to achieve that. (it is annoying how divided and out of control a lot of people are getting. I wish things weren't so weirdly political feeling but at the same time I wish there wasn't so much toxic positivity on the other end of the spectrum. Idk why it's so challenging for people to not take everything to this sorta place nowadays. It will be nice when this stuff chills out and we can get back to normal real life again lol)
@@Sputnik34 oh my bad. You aren't doing that. I didn't mean for it to seem like I thought you were being toxicly positive. It's something in general I'm seeing a lot lately. It seems like it's a trend lately for people to think it's bad to critique things. So they instead try and be grateful almost all the time. In a way I can understand it because there's so many people on the other end of the spectrum just complaining/hating almost everything. *I just wish we could fairly criticize products that we are paying money for and actually see them improve their products. Instead it seems like we just keep seeing these rich companies continue to get away with making slimy or crappy decisions. I just hope to see gaming as a whole greatly improve
To be completely honest, the thing that worried me a bit is the scene where James runs after Laura and Maria is also there and directly trying to interact with Laura as that would mean that they would either make Laura not see Maria and clearly explain that she is in James head or she does interact with her and that complicates stuff... Oh and that the deluxe edition is digital only. I WANT THE ARTBOOK IN HARDCOPY SO BAD ...or at least as a downloadable thing for the physical edition
@@Sputnik34 right?? The deluxe edition is digital only and I am so sad about it... I want the game in physical edition no matter what to add to my collection but if I had to guess, konami will add the stuff to their shop for that extra income
The game looks good, but the animations looks done by an amateur rather than from an expert gaming company. And please don't say they were done that way because the old game had weird anims. We are in 2024, look anims from other games, RE3 or RE4 xd.
I don't mind some of the janky animations tbh. I'm ok with it. The only one I really have a serious issue with is the final overhead attack when an enemy is on the floor. I wouldn't have an issue with them fixing more of them but that one attack is the only one I have a real problem
Shout out to Best Buy for my refund. Spit on old school players who GAVE THEM MONEY and now favor modern audiences who haven't payed them yet. And deluxe no physical so cheaper for them to make. I want ARTWORK in my hand. Not some digital crap I can just google. This is the worst product ever made. Old school SH players. Let's let Gen Z have this one. We gon sit this one out. And remember NEVER BUY DIGITAL. They can take it from you anyway legally.
I am also a 20yr old fan.i am very disappointed 😞.they did my girl Angela dirty and they made her sound ugly.james sexual frustration is also gone in this.the nurses no longer show cleavage.maria is all covered up.
Marias outfit sort of feels off, the placement of her tattoo on her chest, theres rumours to say her outfit changes throughout the game, but what really dont like is how she looks like a carbon copy of Ashley from RE4 Remake, unfortunately too the first encounter looked off, felt cheap, easy to put assets together. typical abandoned house, shitty cardboard boxes. that scene looked very cheap. you're right its 80% there. Angela just needs some face shrinkage. Laura's funny top lip needs addressing too. Also i dont know about the hospital part where theres orange sunlight beaming through a warm looking corridor considering its stone cold grey fog outside the hospital lacked the vibe in that particular scene
What did YOU think of the showcase of the Silent Hill 2 remake? LET ME KNOW PLEASE
I’m extremely excited bro
I’ve always been a horror fanatic but never played silent hill except 4.
Thank you I couldn't agree with you more! I feel like people are just nitpicking and complaining too much
Yeah it’s not gonna be absolutely perfect, but at least we aren’t going to get an RE3 remake repeat.
It's gotten pretty bad tbh
I understand not being so open with what ACTUALLY happened, but real set up that her father was a real POS and we still have her brother to figure out as well.)
As far as the "Reap what you sow" line, I have no idea why anyone has an issue with this. it looks to be in either the hospital or the prison based on what little we see of it. BTW, the odd capitalization in that message can be taken and rearranged to spell out, "I NEED YOU MARY BE REAL"
I agree that the ground attack animations don't look good and James hair is too bright in some places of the game. but these are honestly pretty easy things to fix with post release patches.
No ones reading all that, bro.
"my sweet gaming women babes don't look good enough. ITS WOKE" - you
@@Sputnik34
It's not about looking good enough or not as an individual situation, it's about acknowledging the reason why the characters had their initial designs they did in Silent Hill 2.

The combat with the nurses looks insane, (@5.58) one of them actually takes 2 quick mini steps towards you while she winds back the pipe before launching at you THEN she GRABS your pipe and starts belting you from the other hand. @Sputnik34 it's cause of the DEI consultancy group
This game is gone woke that's why people don't like it go woke go broke
Besides Angela and Laura’s faces. And how blatant it seems like they’re making Angela’s backstor it looks awesome

Honestly your points are super reasonable... It was truly an enjoyable watch, keep these video coming!
Need a vr version for it
The character design and voice acting are my biggest issues.
Why are you people even here

Yeah game looks good, I'm exited to play it!
SH2 Remake is giving me more Last of Us vibes as far as gameplay goes. And I'm cool with that.
I think it looks fantastic. I can’t wait to play it!
What dialouge are you referring to? Cuz all the lines we see are scenes from the OG
@@mrplayfulshade I must have remembered incorrectly! This scene is the one I was referring to. I think more dialogue like this would be beneficial th-cam.com/video/-91danRdxjg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HGGHehTVr_cOznZb

Never played before but I’m a massive horror fan and can’t wait to experience this, only thing that annoys me is lack of a physical deluxe edition.
Agreed. I am personally quite excited for the game.
No one hates more silent hill than silent hill "fans"
This 13 minutes gameplay trailer sold it for me. It looks amazing
There definitely not removing Eddie from the game don't worry
This game looks fantastic
i love every thing that’s been showcased so far. my only nitpick is james voice. it doesn’t have that same melancholy feel like the original. i’m still gonna love the remake tho
yeah i agree with everything you said. As long as the story stays the same we should just let them cook
Real talk tho
Thank you! The Silent Hill fandom needs more people like you, I'm tired of all the complaining about every little thing.

Finally, someone not complaining about Angela, the nurses, or Maria's look!
Someone with actual criticism and concerns!
It's really not that hard to do! Hahaha thanks for watching!
She says "I'll be good" or something when she freaks out and gives him the gun in the original, no? Maybe I always misheard that
She says "I've been bad" I actually forgot about that thanks for reminding me
The one reason I won’t buy this game is due to blooper team hiring hit detection. Now if the game comes out and if the story isn’t ruined and the game is really really really enjoyable and it feels like a sh2 remake, I’d be willing to reconsider, maybe.
you’re the first person who hasn’t just nitpicked the game for fun and to complain, i’m so excited for it
I liked the older look they had for James but then everything else looks… basically fine? Like except for the fucked up pricing scheme where I live - this seems like it’s going to be a good game - something you can’t ever be too sure about when it comes to Bloober - and no I ain’t talking about them “handling sensitive subjects poorly” but rather the fact they aren’t all that great at anything else than visual design.
For me i think its a remake of a perfect game and this is really rare (bloodborne next please)
Great thoughts! 👍 Totally agreeing with you. I'm so sick of all the toxic fanboys (who isn't even fans, just sad body shaming basement dwellers)
No matter what Bloober does, the Silent Hill 2 remake project has a ton of reasons why people are gonna hatte it anyway:
- Everyone loves to bully Konami
- Everyone loves to bully Bloober Team
- Silent Hill 2 is one of the three best horror games of all time, (SH2, Resident Evil 4 and Dead Space) so the remake has to fill HUGE shoes
- The other two greatest horror games have gotten remakes in the past couple months and BOTH WERE GREAT!
- However, Konami can't spend the same amount of money into a horror game, so it's unrealistic to expect the same kind of polishing for this as something like Capcom's RE4 Remake
- The last actual Silent Hill game was released 12 years ago, so a lot of the people commenting didn't even play these games themselves but only informed their opinion on what other people said on youtube videos.
I just hate Angela's design the messed her up bad
She looks exactly the same 😭
I do not understand what people are on about with Angela. She looks like a normal person?? As if any of the PS2 renders looked any more realistic or made an important impact on the game.
Aint no way you guys are seriously that blind
@@mrheero9827 I'm blinded by the DEI WOKE AGENDA
@@mrheero9827 Nah, I’m not blind. She doesn’t look exactly like Angela does in the original game, but I guess I don’t see why that’s a problem.
So far I'm actually really happy with the VA direction.
O K A Y
I N D E E E D
Think you. The internet got me feeling like I’m the only one who loved what they saw lmao.
You're not alone!
It's important that we see James' face through James' eyes - what he wants to see and believe. Ideally, it should change over the course of the game.
That would be fun!
Given the scene I think is being shown,
Angela saying "I'll be good, I promise.
Yeah! Just improve that wind up attack when the enemy is on the floor and we're golden!
I agree with you but there's no such thing as something being "objectively better" in this regard lol
I'm praying that Bloober Team doesn't fuck this one up.
At this point I have enough faith in them that they won't!
Omg it's guys. 😂

I like to think I'm not being toxically positive lol I'm very hopeful. The showcase put me at a rather significant ease. :')
@@Sputnik34 oh my bad. You aren't doing that. I didn't mean for it to seem like I thought you were being toxicly positive. It's something in general I'm seeing a lot lately. To be completely honest, the thing that worried me a bit is the scene where James runs after Laura and Maria is also there and directly trying to interact with Laura as that would mean that they would either make Laura not see Maria and clearly explain that she is in James head or she does interact with her and that complicates stuff...

I think Angela’s line makes sense to me. “Tell him I’ll be good” so that she doesn’t get abused again by her father.
I guess for me it didn't feel like a triple a game like re2 or re4 remake but a bad fan remake...but those fan concept look far more "silent hill"
