If the gap isn’t there for those who are having the same issue, that’s because the primary latch is still engaged, which if you have access to a jack and some jacks, and you have the time you can pull the front undercarriage off and stick your arm from the bottom all the way to the top to release the primary latch. Then you’ll get to this step and I found it more easier to pull up the weatherstrip and then use a trim tool to pop off that little latch cover it’s not gonna fully come off, but once that’s off, then you can use a thinner flathead to turn the secondary latch

My hands are not skinny enough or it just happened to be tighter space but I managed to get it open with an allen key in few minutes!
Nice. Thanks Kenneth for the information. Where did you get the part from ?
Hi Kenneth, where did you get the part from? Directly from Tesla?
Sorry, he is not reading your comment.
Hello. I’m going to try to do this myself. Tesla trying to charge me almost 500 bucks. Did you disconnect the battery before replacing or no?
Sadly model y there’s not enough gap to get the hand in even with baby hands

How do you fix the primary latch? Mine is gone and Tesla want $350 to repair it.
