    It's a wonderful thing to have an independent shop that works at this level. I'm sure he's well worth his shop rates.
    I can just imagine the message from Zuffenhausen now..... "Porsche does not approve this video." lol

    Damn! Buying an expensive ass 911 and changing the oil yourself while it's in warranty. That's the kind of rich I want to be.❤

    M5 owners with the v10. Instead of using BMW oil. They use something else. Then they wonder why their bearings didn't last long. The BMW oil had an additive that was suppose to protect the bearings.

    Nice to see you chose a manual gearbox. No air filter?
    Unimpressed with the plastic sump

    • @omgautos
      @omgautos  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      manual is the only way to go on this car. otherwise, what's the point? air filter is fine as the mileage is super low. however, oil degrades with time as well as mileage.

    Nice video. However, how come you’re changing the oil so soon for the second time? I believe it’s 20,000 mile service intervals on these, excessive I know!! But I’m intrigued why you’re having it done so early? Clearly you love your car, so kudos there. My 992 GTS has done 6k miles now, I followed the running in procedure but it’s not due an oil change for another 14k miles! 🤔

    • @omgautos
      @omgautos  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      it's been a year since the first oil change, so i'm doing it based on time, not mileage. congrats on the gts - those are hard to come by!

    • @yerpster
      @yerpster ปีที่แล้ว +5

      jeez 20k miles service intervals? most i would go is 10k and that's absolute max, realistically more like 7k miles. I don't care what the manufacture says. fresh oil = good

  • @obi-wankenobi7160
    @obi-wankenobi7160 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Did he loosen the oil filter housing before draining oil? Wont that lead to oil dripping out from the filter housing? I always drain oil first and then replace the oil filter

    • @omgautos
      @omgautos  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      loosening up is the right way to relieve the vacuum. oil will not drip out as it drains down into the motor - the filter housing is upside down, so makes it nice and clean.

    I was waiting to hear how much did this oil change cost?....How much does a Porsche dealership charge to change the oil?....this guy made it look so simple and easy, like I could do it in my driveway 😂

    • @PhotoLabMP
      @PhotoLabMP 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The oil change costs $40 when you do it yourself. $500-$600 if you have it done at the Porsche dealership.

    • @omgautos
      @omgautos  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      If I recall it was about $150 in oil/filter, and the labor was free 👍. It's no different than any other oil change other than the low clearance. You just have to make sure you're buying the right spec oil per the Porsche requirements.

  • @jakeringer3153
    @jakeringer3153 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Clearly worth about an hour of labor plus parts - call it $250, dealers would like to double this.
    Was your mechanic able to reset the dash warning?

    • @omgautos
      @omgautos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, he reset the maintenance reminder, but there were some issues with this. The scanner he's using just rolled out support for Porsche and there are bugs. The company is working on it, and he'll try again in the next couple of weeks. The computer reset the mileage, but a few days later the message on the dash was 'Service in 30 days / 15300 mi'. Scanner company support is being very appreciative of us reporting issues, and will resolve soon.

    • @omgautos

      Lifts are expensive 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @lasersailor6684
      @lasersailor6684 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can put a simple jack under the center of light colored bar that runs between the rear suspension just forward of that plug, and lift the rear enough to undo the drain plug and drain the oil, I’ve done it twice, no lift required.

      Because they can, and people will pay it. My stealer wanted £470 GBP per tyre for the rears. They're about £275 fitted, identical tyre, anywhere else here. I was having the car serviced and they were fixing some warranty stuff and I asked if they could come down a bit on the tyres. Not a penny (so got them elsewhere). Point is, enough people will tell them to just go ahead and do it for it to make it worth their while. Your average Macan or Cayenne owner just sees it as cost of ownership. There's a reason they make more margin per car than any other manufacturer, and when you visit the dealer and have all that lovely free coffee, food etc. then you're paying for it one way or another. But, damn, they just make such lovely cars....
