  • I read a bunch of stuff on 992 oil change. I found it to be rather straight forward.
    Tools and Parts Needed:
    Oil: www.suncoastpa...
    Filter Wrench: www.suncoastpa...
    Oil Filter: www.suncoastpa...
I don't have the correct drain plug part numbers. I'll have to figure those out on the next change.

I change the oil in my cars, but my Porsche I just pay to get done. I don't have a lift, and I rather just keep the paper trail with an independent service shop. The time I save not having to mess with it and sweat my ass off in the garage is worth it to me lol. Thanks for sharing and uploading your process though!!

@@amac8487 that's crazy. I heard many Porsche dealers are at the 300 dollar an hour mark now. IMO they are the best car/service of the higher end but still there's nothing crazy about aligning one over another car with adjustable suspension.

Matt there are some very interesting information on The Motor Oil Geeks channel around oil sample testing. I think you have done the right thing about changing the oil at around 500 miles. Even daily driver cars should change the oil at the first 500 miles as the engine does 'Break in' Even though people think that the thing of the past, all modern engines should be changed at the first 500 miles. Also, don't neglect your transmission oil, too. That's very important. Find his video from about 4 months ago called 'New engine break-in truth or myth?' Another good one to watch is about Prefilling the oil filter 👌

As a fellow obsessed person, might I suggest taking all the tools for the oil change and putting them in one small kit. Duplicates of the main set, of course. I have this for my 991.2 GT3. I also use a beam type torque wrench as I do not trust small click type. For wheels I use the gedore remoter which I find better than the precision instruments I used previously. I think you will like the stahlwille torque wrenches. The digital 1/4 is nice, I just can’t bring myself to use it on oil changes, the other ones are also nice too. I may be getting this wrong but they say you don’t have to wind them down to store (I do) and the ones with the universal hole at the end allows you to torque whatever you want. Finally, on wrenches, I don’t think you will like the stahlwille 13 series as they are short and the head are wide, I do think you will like the 14 series as well as the stabil, corona, and whatever the ones ones are called. I bought all the stahl (get it) so I have them. For regular pattern wrenches I use Hazet SPC which are the same as 600N just “special price.” I do need to get the Hazet traction profile and full set of ratcheting Hazets to complete the Hazet wrench set. Just have not pulled the trigger as frankly I need a bigger box for Hazet and have not made up my mind as to what assistejt trolly I want. Oh, have you tried Gedore wrenches? I have a pretty full set of those and am especially a fan of the B type. Go wildcats.

if you drain the oil overnight you have to put in like 6 quarts, instead of like the 3.5-4 when you just quickly do it, so the best way to get all the oil out is just drain overnight that's what we do at my dealer. the plastic drain plug is only on vehicles made after may 26th 2023. also your first service is paid for already when you buy the car so you kinda waisted your time.

This car will probably see minimal use, Owner personality wont allow it. Friend of mine has a 370Z Nismo (yeah I know is not a GT3)but same personality trait, dude wont drive the car so the brake calipers don't lose the dealer gloss. They see joy in having and in keeping brand new, do you think he will ever need 10 Torque wrenches? But knowing he has them brings joy, turning a hex nut with a top line ratchet to the exact torque value and wiping it with a rag made from highest quality cotton is where is at, its not about the car, its about his search of happiness, getting that rush, if it was about the car he would have let it get to operating temp. I had a 84 3.2L 911, oil cooler at front, you let the car get warm so oil temp control valves open and oil circulate back to engine, you get more oil out that way, car would not care if I used an old t-shirt or a highest grade cotton to wipe his ass, I bet he did like me replacing every drop of oil!

Matt porsche tech here! Couple convivence tips, you only have to loosen the rear 2 t30s on the underbody panel (this will allow you to hold it with bolts instead of cranium) then slide it backwards as its just slotted. nice trick on the putting back in what you took out, its insane our manual states 3.5 qts required, it sounds broken, but most of the time we leave HALF on the cluster for track use GTs.

also keep tabs on the drain plug with the brass insert, dont want to over tighten that as once its too tight the brass might spin which is apart of the oil tank aka repair means engine out. i've had to use vise grips to keep the brass from spinning while hitting the plug w a "JOLT" loosening action
