Very neat video. Both of my grandfathers were proud recipients of the army good conduct medal. My first grandfather was awarded his in 1943 while serving in the Army Air Force. My second grandfather got his in January 1966. Proud to display it in their shadowboxes!
Are there 2 different types or oak leaf clusters? I don't mean in terms of silver vs bronze, but rather the slim ones vs the more rounded versions such as the one pictured at 3:22 for the army reserve good conduct medal. Maybe the more rounded oak leaves are an older version?
I know the Army awards the Good Conduct Medal for combat service and did so in WW2. Did the Navy award their Good Conduct Medal for the same in WW2? My Grandfathers were both in the Navy during WW2 and I want to make them shadow boxes for their service.
If you got the good conduct medal in the Army but then join the marines do you get to keep the medal and possibly get the marine version on top of having the army one?
You neglected to mention that from its establishment until 1 January 1996 the Navy Good Conduct Medal required 4 years active duty service. Kiddie Cruisers and folks who got an early out at the end of Vietnam were ineligible.

The Select Marine Corps reserve medal is actually awarded for 3 years of service instead of 4 as of Jan 1, 1996.

The Army and Air Force use the same medal with different a ribbon hanger.

Re-Oakleaf clusters for the army, Air Force, and the department of defense awards are all standard.

Yes you can wear your Army Good Conduct Medal on your Marine uniform. Once you earn the USMC Good Conduct Medal it will go just before the Army GCM.
