@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons yup really thanks brother, here in the Philippines barley is not common not like paddy rice so im gonna use paddy rice as you said its the same as barley..
I feel it is best to start road training young. That is difficult sometimes with hawks etc. Once they are loft flying for 30 minutes straight it is time to start training carefully and slowly.
I love your channel. I have never flown in club, will this year. I got good pigeons from reputable breeders. Would I stand a chance in a one loft race?????
I would not start with the big expensive One Loft Races but there are many you are able to test the pigeons at a reasonable price. You may want to enter the Convention Races and the Gulf Coast Classic also. You do not know until you try.
Thanks I enjoy your videos Question my first time going to race what I need to do to avoid molting the flight wing if we racing on beginning of September ? Thanks in advance
How long is your season? You can apply the Dark System so you so not have to worry about the molt or you can pull last two flights depending on how old the pigeons are right now. th-cam.com/video/qdP_moSfWl0/w-d-xo.html
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons thanks frank our season for young bird start last week of September and we race every weekend about 7 races for young bird so by November we are done with YB i never try either way but I think I would prefer not to go with darkening system. Thanks again I will watch that video thanks a lot
I usually wean on Saturday or Sunday because I have time. Some are a bit older and some are a bit younger. When the feathers open under the wing it is time to wean them.
Hi Kevin, I am not familiar with the product and when I looked I could not find the ingredients. Not sure if this is something that will make a difference.
I have seen products like this over the years. I do not think most pigeons will have so much mucas come out. Maybe it has value. Seem like a lot of work but if it helps it could be beneficial. Maybe try on random half the team and see.
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons the product arrived yesterday I use it on nine birds eight birds had mucus in the nostril but little in the throat and they were shaking they heads and mucus was coming out.
hi, hope you are well. I have a question about the youngsters. I have 1-2 month old youngsters now. And our club training starts from September to October from 20k to almost 150km. And the race starts from November to December. I will start trapping training of the youngster by next month which is April. in your system after they learned trap training in the loft. Do you let them loft fly and how many times have you let them loft fly? or you don't let them loft fly? before you start self training toss? You said that when you start training toss them you didn't loft fly them. In my case, start from April to August during this months what should I do for the birds? Should I loft fly them? How many times? And how long?
I am sorry for the confusion. I was talking about my old birds. You must loft fly and trap train the young birds. The young need to go out to settle and break to the loft. Once the young are flying 30 minutes it is time to start the road training. You can go very slow in all directions and also loft fly. You can have your birds educated before the club training starts. See this video on Educating young birds. th-cam.com/video/ZC1vv0u2TmQ/w-d-xo.html
Hi Frank, I list down my schedule for my race. Can you check it? Here's my schedules: January to March - Egg hatched April to May - start 1x feeding eat all they can / and start trap training/viewing youngsters June to july - let them learn to loft fly up to 30mins. August - Start self toss from all direction from 2km up to 30km October - 2nd week starts training up to 100km for mid toss. (1 day rest per 2 hours flight) November to December - Race start up to 370km Thanks Frank,
If you want the young to start flying and during training give 50% barley. I add barley when the birds are maybe three months old. Feed once a day all they can eat and let them leave some barley after each daily feeding.
I have seen this and I am not really sure what causes the blood boils. They tend to correct themselves. Has to be some type of minor infection or injury that leads to the body producing a blood boil.
Hi sir good day, how are you doing. We are from the Philippines and my husband JSA LOFT is a fan of yours. He's been watching your videos and we have a question. Is red rice good for pigeons? Thank you
Hi Frank, I want to start antibiotic free racing this year like you explained in your videos. I didn't gave any medication since july last year. Last week, the vet came to vaccinate my pigeons for PMV. I let him examine my old pigeons and in the droppings there was some light coccidioses. Should I thread them now because I really want to be antibiotic free ? Racing season starts here in Belgium in two weeks! Thx for your advice.
I would not worry about a little coccidiosis. The coccidia count goes up when they are stressed and then drops back down. Give a good oregano product and rest them for a few days and the cocci will drop. If they look excellent do not worry at all. I have not treated for cocci in over 20 years.
Thank you for the video Frank . I have been darkening the birds from March 21 through June 21 but you mentioned in the video only 9 weeks , is it okay if I darken them only 9 weeks not 12 ?
It takes about 9 weeks for them to finish the body molt. See my darkening video below. You should keep them on the dark until half way through the young bird season. th-cam.com/video/qdP_moSfWl0/w-d-xo.html

Hi Frank, thank you for everything you do for the sport. I'd like to ask about pulling tail feathers. When is this done and is it similar to 9th and 10th flight where they cut the tip and wait about 2 weeks to pull?
I am sorry to say that I have never pulled tail feathers. If you do decide to pull the tail feathers to prevent tail feather problems during racing, only pull the center four feathers.
