You are the only fanciers i watch that teach the whole truth.. thankyou very much sir mc laughlin..
- from the Mindoro Philippines
Franks Birds are so fast that when they arrive home they can fly several laps around the loft and still place well, now that’s Impressive 👀
That is funny. When the races get longer I usually do better. Hopefully they can open up a lead so I can lose some time at the lofts. lol
The first fancier to every show step by step. Thank you.
Happy you enjoyed
When I started racing pigeons about two decades ago, Frank's articles on the internet are one of the first stumbled into. Back then, I had so little understanding of what he was writing. Watching you now after all these years, still passionate as ever, is truly amazing. I hope you know how much you are helping newbies and even those who are already experienced. More power Frank! From Philippines ❤
You are too nice and I have many great fans in the Philippines. So happy if I can help a little
Thank you Frank
Very informative and helpful. I think I can speak for all new flyers in saying that we appreciate your willingness to share your methods!
You are very welcome
thanks frank. 1st club 9th fed 173 mls.
Great job! So happy for you!
Hi Frank great video, I was wondering if you could you make a video about the Histoplasmosis and Cryptococcosis and the best practices to avoid getting them ? Thank you
Hello, I never treat for fungus. That is a good question. Good ventilation, strong immune systems and the pigeons built resistance. Essential Oils including Oregano has shown some positive effects. I use Nubiotic. Order here: agsuppliesdirect.com/ At Checkout use PIGEON5%

Congratulations amazing results. I’ve flown in the past with tons of training tosses and lots of preventive care as advices from the older fliers and never came close to the top 20% I have faith in your program can’t wait to try it on this years young birds. Thank you for all the great advice
You will be amazed at how fast you climb the race result. Feeding is so important with good pigeons.
thank you Sir for sharing yung Race Program I will try your program for my derby race here in Philippines
Super!
Hello, do you do force molting by cutting the 9&10th feather? Thank you
I do not worry about the old birds but will pull flights and or take off a tiny tip to slow the molt in youngsters. Check out this video:
Hope everyone enjoyed the race and what goes on at McLaughlin Lofts to get the pigeons ready with limited effort.
Thank you Mr. Funk like always thank you. You are the best personally me I enjoyed watching your TH-cam.
So Happy you enjoy them!
Great video Frank. I am just getting into this sport and feel as though I am a few decades too late. But better late then never. Very informative.
You can progress very fast once you realize this game is not too difficult
Frank I would love to hear your thoughts on racing during a solar storm etc. I kept my birds home today. Didn’t ship for races this weekend because of the solar activity. Great job in your races. Love the video
I was very worried and debated on keeping the best pigeons home. I shipped all of them and did this video yesterday on the Solar Storm Race: th-cam.com/video/DdoIpCu2WR4/w-d-xo.html
Good stuff, Frank 👏🏼
Thank you!
Excellent Mr Frank...well well done✨️✨️The video is also awsone and i was so waiting for it. Thank you so much..🎉🎉
So nice of you
Can you do a video on racing the birds in the heat. I believe the heat can make or break a race pigeons performance and ability to come home. So I believe my birds come back better in the cool weather. I looked at the stats for the last 14 years our combine has had terrible returns on anything over 80 degrees. I would love to get your input on this situation. Also my combine races across the Mojave Desert against head winds with high temps.
I will give this some thought and work on a video when we have a long race on a high heat day.
Great results, Frank. Quick question: Any insights into giving unflavored gelatin? There is not much mention online, but one long time flier I know gives it in the water. I would imagine it's intended for providing collagen (proteins) and amino acids.
Hi Kerby, I have heard of fanciers giving gelatin in the past but I have never tried. I would think it would be for protein and collagen. Not really sure.
Loved the video ...i thought this was really informative...nice results Frank !
It was fun and I will hope to keep improving as the season goes on
Good one Frank 😎
Happy you enjoyed
Thanks Frank for the great video. Do you train and feed the same with young birds racing vs. old birds racing?
I train the young birds much more before the season and then they only train two days per week and race or train on Saturday. Usually I use a training truck on Tuesday to get them experience. Same feeding and system for the most part.
Another great video are we replacing health oil and win mix and all the supplements you used to use for this new one ?
Last year I did not have time to mix anything on the grain and still had incredible results. I think it is best for most to use the winmix and Curol once a week along with yellow drops. My pigeons have been antibiotic free for so many years I think there immune systems are very strong. I feel I can get away with less.
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons ok thanks Im following exactly what you do I ordered that new stuff you recommended
Hello frank do you feed the youngsters that same barley mix from the time that they can eat for themselves.
The young eat the very rich seeds like Versele Laga Champion until I want them to start flying strong. Maybe at 3 months old I swap them to 50% barley and they stay on this through training. They will exercise and train well eating all they want once a day until they leave barley. I get more serious with the feeding once racing begins.
Hi Frank
I'd like to ask if you use magnetology app whenever you train or sending birds to the race. I hope you can give us some advice about magnetology/magnetic field forecast as I think it somehow affects the performance of the birds.
More power to your channel!!
Kind Regards
I do not pay attention to this but I feel it can effect the pigeons but effects more on the young pigeons. Check out this video from yesterday on Massive Solar Storms on Race Day! th-cam.com/video/DdoIpCu2WR4/w-d-xo.html
hi sir frank ! quick question ,birds are doing great with your system but just wondering how come you give them fats seeds on shipping day? some members in my club give fats and oily seeds on thursday (day before shipping) as it metabolizes in their body within 48 hours for it to be useful. wouldn’t that be useless if fed on the shipping day ? would like to have your feedback ! and waiting for Yb race vids 😬 much love from Vancouver,BC
I only give fat seeds for races where they fly more than 6 hours. Under six hours they eat the barley mix day of shipping. Body weight is much more important than anything else. I also on many occasions I only feed fat seeds day of shipping and they the eat on the truck for one day. If they race looks tough with an over night ship I do give fat seeds on shipping day. The fat will be used the next day. It is digested and in their system.
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons oh okay got it sir frank ! thanks !
I really enjoyed the video frank these videos help me tremendously with me being new to the sport and all thank you very much 🙏🏼 and watching the birds come home is just a major plus they all look amazing and strong me not having enough birds to fly yet this itches me wanting to fly the birds lol but i only have the one pair and then the one staf van reet cock so I definitely not gonna fly them. And I am very excited to see what kinda hen u pick for my staff van reet Cock🙏🏼🙏🏼🧬🐦
Shipped a super nice Van Reet hen to you yesterday!
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons I am so thankful for this you are a very awesome person and a good friend 🙏🏼 thank again 😊
Also I have a question is pearled barley just as good as hauled barley ?I will go through and check out some of your videos on it I have almost watched every video on your channel 😁😅 but I have learned so much just from the videos I have watched I feel confident in this hobby from just your experience I greatly appreciate your knowledge and generosity 🙏🏼🧬🐦🎯🪽🪽🙏🏼
You need to use the barley in the husk. I show the barley in my last video.
Great video like always. Congratulations for the race!
It was fun. The pigeons should keep getting better.
Another great video Frank.
Glad you enjoyed it
Cool video, Frank!
Happy you liked it.
great tips and video as always frankie
Thank you!
I am new. I think i know where i am buying my first family of racing pigeons. Love from the Philippines.
Try to buy great genetics from fanciers that win without antibiotics and are not full time pigeon racers.
Great video as always! It's my son and my first year with pigeons. We currently have 28 YB we hope to race this summer. Trying to follow your training, feeding, medicating etc program's to a T. I do feel the whole loft as a little respiratory going on right now. Birds sneezing a little. As a first year flyer, is it possible to get past that without antibiotics? Suggestions? Thanks Frank.
Use the Nubiotic and add more ventilation. Open the loft up so more air moves through for the babies. They should be just fine over time and build natural immunity to respiratory disease. Send me a photo of up close of the babies or video so I can take a look. Frank@McLaughlinLofts.com

Thanks Frank!!!! Currently using the Nubiotic, yellow drops, pretty much everything you recommend in your vidoes. I felt the YB loft was perhaps too open, closed up some of the ventilation already, but like u say the wild ones live under a bridge and are healthy. Will send a video later tonight. Your a stand up guy to respond to everyone's questions! Very much appreciated. Your videos have been our main mentors in getting started with the birds.
I am happy if I can help a little and give back to this sport. I have had an amazing run in pigeons.
Thanks Frank enjoyed the race part .
Glad you liked it!
Well done frank 🎉
Thank you!
Hello Frank do you feed your birds before a training toss. Tnx
They only eat once a day after the training toss.
Hi Frank. What do you feed to them for conditioning before start of the race season?
They have been on the 75% barley starting maybe six weeks before the season to get the body weight down. I was also measuring the feed to get the nice and buoyant before training.
Where do you get your Barley from? I am having a heck of time finding unhulled...Am I looking for the correct thing? I tried to google the bag you show but nothing came up. Thanks.
I have my grain and supplies delivered by Global Pigeon Supply out of New York. Hopefully you can find a grain dealer near you. Check with Global and see if they have someone in your area.
Another great video 👍
Thank you!
Can you do a yb race step by step this year too!
I will do that!
Great video
❤
Thank you Eddie!
Do you loft fly ur birds aswel mate or just toss them twice a week
My bird never loft fly. They only train two times per week between races. I do it with great pigeons and correct feeding.
Are those the only lofts you have. And what size are they
My big breeding loft is 8 by 32 foot. Hen loft is about 14 foot by eight foot and the the young bird is 12 by 24, widow cock is 12 by 24 and old breeding loft is also 12 by 24. I have a 10 by 48 foot flight pen also. There is an old loft I do not use on the other side of the property.
hi sir frank ,would you do the same with yb for feeding amounts ? thanks !
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons thank you for the information making the time to reply ! much appreciated ! will do this on feeding on my yb team and lets hope for the best !
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons hi sir frank just a follow up question . do you feed the 80% barley mix when racing starts? or continue with the 50% barley mix? thank you so much !!
Once racing starts they get 75 to 80% barley
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons okay thank you so much sir ! will do it on my Yb !
that's approximately one
full spoon a day per bird
sir?
Watch this video. If you feed like me you must train like me. Easy to compete at the top with less work. th-cam.com/video/euD2T2MsNGk/w-d-xo.html
For us beginners how do you monitor the wind ?
I look on the internet weather sites and see what is going on with the wind at different locations along the race course.
Is this only during race season. I’m trying to raise young birds. I really need help. I’m still new I had 30 or so young birds and lost about 10 now I’m down to maybe 20.
Check out my Educating Young Bird video. I really use the same methods old and young birds. th-cam.com/video/ZC1vv0u2TmQ/w-d-xo.html
Thanks
What's the size of the small pot you used to feed?
Here is the pot that I use. It is the pick pot from Versele Laga globalpigeonsupply.com/products/pick-pots-red
Are you putting all the ingredients together in the water at 7:48 in the video? And is that on return day?
I put all together in the water on day of return. Works great
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons Thank you. I am trying to follow what you share this old bird season.
Location: does living in the inner city matter vs country side?
Location will not matter. You can apply the same system
Hi, i have a question my pigeons loosing weight they eating good but light weiht nd looks week from last 7 months first tgey had green dirhea but no dirhea now .can u

@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons hi sir thanks for reply..i live in uk..my all pigeons have this problem .i even deworming them ..i have high flyer pigeons ...i checked your medicine thats available in uk but but very expensive. Do you know any other medicine which is
cheeper . Thanks
I am really not sure the cause. You may need some testing from a good pigeon veterinarian before trying different products.
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons alright ,thanks
Thanks for knowledge share your idea God blessed McLaughlin always subscribe 💯🇵🇭🙏🏿
I appreciate this!
So you put all those products you mention in the water at the same time.
Yes on day of return those products are in the water to help the pigeons recover fast. With the feed. water and minerals they recover very quickly.
I cant find the barley from Canada. Can Anybody help?
He probably uses Canadian barley because it's what is available regionally in New England. We are fortunate to have a ready supply produced here on the West Coast @ $14 per #50.
Kerby is right. Any high quality barley is fine. Mine is grown in Canada but I bought great barley when I lived in Oregon that was not grown in Canada.
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons I think what we have out here is grown in Montana.
Any reason why you don't use droppers?
I do use droppers for the young birds. Got away from them with the old birds. The droppers do attract the hawks some but the pigeons not coming down is no fun. Usually the old birds come down fast but this year has been rough.
What is the actual name of your traditional mix versel laga traditional what ?
This mix was called the Sneaky Mix in the past. All small fat seeds. I will try to check the bag and see. I did not realize there were many Traditional Mix's. The one I buy is the only one carried by my grain dealer.
Thanks for your reply frank yes versele laga have an actual traditional range like racing breeding youngsters etc
I looked at the bag. It says Sneaky Mixture Expert on the label.
I need 388 frank
Man I miss that feather like grass … here in Florida the grass will cut ur feet lmao
That is funny. I do not live at the lofts and my brother never mows the grass.
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons I use to live in Connecticut and i remember the grass being so soft
❤
Your combine birdage is very low Frank
Here in northern Ireland in the NIPA federation you could be racing against upto 25'000 birds
I do wish we had big numbers like in the past. I loved racing and winning against 3000 to 4000 birds weekly. It was exciting and motivated me. Sad the numbers keep falling but I have five or six members in my club that would dominate anywhere in the world.
Nice 🌹run on🌹🇧🇩🌹tul tul loft.
.......
Just store water in a bucket that will be chlorine free d next day
I suggest many to do this and let the water sit over night. It is best to keep uncovered to let the chlorine go into the air over night. I usually just use the chlorine remover when I plan to add friendly gut bacteria.
Dont make sense having the yellow tubular thing dangling in the air on a race day!!!!!!
My birds are used to it.
It must be so terrible that here are more native hawks and falcons taking your flying rats. Imagine complaining about it. How about you pigeon racers be forced to fix the damage your lost pigeons do to buildings and statues. I await your reply.
You must look into racing pigeons more to alleviate your miss conceptions.
Another excellent video Frank
Thank you!
