Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly".
This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonate, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace.
The music from this song of Lara is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and give his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself.
The classic music piece is globally famous and was translated into a pop song for Lara. She wrote lyrics in english and italian for it and is the original performer.
She kept the title Adagio and wrote a story with a double meaning: a woman that is awaiting to find her love / an artist that is awaiting the god of inspiration.
This song has become a classic and has been covered by many : Shirley Bassey (!!), Dimash, Floor Jansen, Polina Gagarina, Giulia Falcone, …
They made great covers but none of these match the storytelling amazing performance of Lara in this concert From Lara with Love.
Her italian version is also amazing.

Hi Tauri, i feel the same way like you about Floor and Lara. They both feel the emotions of a song and its lyrics themselves so strong that they are able to convey them equally strong to their audiences.
And as usual after you have seen and heard her beautiful ballads i highly recommend Lara's powerful rock voice she showcases performing Requiem pour un fou, the duet with Johnny Hallyday.

Lara Fabian always pierces my soul and gives me the goosey bumps... no matter how many times I've heard her perform and sing. Glad you finally got around to doing a reaction to "Adagio" as I really loved your reactions to "Caruso" and "Je Suis Malade." I think, as others have suggested in the comments, that your next journey with Lara could be "Je t'aime," performed live in Paris from 2001, but there are a lot of great performances to choose from; so, you really cannot go wrong.

Lara is amazing - I can't believe I never heard of her before last year. Adagio and Je Sui Malade are amazing, but my absolute favorite is her rendition of Caruso (from the same concert, no less). Those people that attended that witnessed something truly special. I think she did Broken Vow in that concert as well, and that one is way up there too. Love your reactions - I feel silly that I've watched and commented and just now realized I hadn't subscribed - I took care of that :-)

I understand a feeling of disbelief when seeing Lara's early work for the first time. I found the YT videos of Lara singing only after 2020's lockdowns put me in front of the computer all day. I was shocked I had not heard of her before. After many WTF's and other choice phrases aimed at thin air, I realized that events in my life which took all my attention from 1995 until 2013 had allowed me very little time for other things. Sadly, that included missing those years of Lara's career when they happened. The Adagio performance Tauri reacted to was from a made for TV concert form 1999 in Montreal. The whole concert, "From Lara With Love," is on YT and is worth any time you spend watching it. There is a long list of her works to choose from. I have a slightly different way to describe the experience of a Lara Fabian performance - I do not feel like Lara "makes " her audience cry as much as she " allows " her audience to truly " express " the emotion of the story because through her unparalleled gift of allowing an audience to join her and immerse themselves INTO the the story and travel the road of discovery of that journey............I cannot think of another artist who shows the gift so often and so completely.
Hi Tauri I Love Lara 💘. I love both Floor's and Lara's version. If you haven't reacted to Lara singing Je Taime from Paris 2001 I think. You will need a tissue or tissues. Broken Vow and Caruso are a must. There's an awesome video of The Warning andcits called Crimson Queen Unplugged. Its from Vivo Live 2019. Dany's guitar wasn't charged so it didn't work. I really Loved it ❤ and I hope you do to.
