Wow a version of thawne that could actually cry and feel emotions i love this and he also wanted to become a hero stopping tornados and recharging power grids just like in the comics before he became the reverse flash he was inspired by flash to save people and prevent drama and deaths and the best part is flash got to meet this thawne and ended up liking him.
If I'm not wrong, in the original comics thawne wanted to be a hero like the flash but became insane when he found out he would be remembered in history as the flash's worst nemesis. This scene is like what thawne would gave been if he never went down that path
That IS a plot twist! Thawne's comic counterpart indeed knew love, but his future self erased that. I actually like this version as a good scientist saving the woman he loves the most. His own lightning rod, you could say.

It breaks my heart when Thawne says: "Save her" at 2:18 and his reaction to Barry´s words in 2:33 I never thought I would ever feel bad for Thawne once in life
It's because Thawne was originally a man with a good heart, then time travelling revealed him the truth of who he was, an archenemy, a direct rival of The Flash. This Thawne actually experienced love and knows that the power of love holds something greater for the world. It was really sad seeing him beg Barry to save Meena because he genuinely cares.
If you look back and understand Thawne's background, his a scientist who just wanted to do good and so he thought being the Flash is one way to do so. But that good intention has gone twisted and blinded by obsession of wanting to be better than the Flash. That eventually lead him to succumb by the negative speedforce and grow a hatred to Flash. This Thawne became a much better person because he has somebody else in his life like Meena.
And because without his future knowledge he didn't know his 'destiny' was to be Flash's worst enemy. Thawne wanted to be the best at whatever he was supposed to be, even being a villain. Here he never stopped wanting to be a hero.

Possible that they might create a good friendship, but will see. There's a possibility that this is eobards fate that he must be a villain/the reverse flash and this could be his origin story. The writers will kill off meena that even though she took the negative speed and thinking that it saved her heart condition. However, it only slows down her heart condition and slowly killing her, which results meena dying in eobards arms and asking Flash to save her by asking him to give his speed to meena but in the end Flash refuses, which thawne is now consumed with hate and the negative speed force transferred to thawne.
No. Wells version of Thawne will expose him to the truth. It's time for him to begin fulfill his destiny as well. That's why something as simple as having the Flash accidentally kill Meena can be what turns this version of Eobard into the greatest version of Reverse Flash ever!!

This was a very good scene. Berry is right now seeing Thawne for who he was before he became Reverse Flash, the man that would ruin his life. Maybe through this alliance Berry can finally let go of the hatred that hes been carrying for Thawne all these years.

A soft Eobard is refreshing and different because they keep bringing the evil Eobard back constantly even though he was written out of the time line twice once in legends and in the flash
This scene in my opinion is the best acting that Matt Letscher has done in the Arrowverse so far. I'm in the minority that prefers Tom Cavanagh's Thawne but this scene made me appreciate Matt's Eobard even more than I did before.

It's after Flashpoint version of Thawne, this one which was erased from existence by Black Flash, when he lost battle about Spear of Destiny (Sara made Spear useless). Then he was brought to life and re-educated and he was Fix Pointer. He helped Legends and was killed by Robolegends. I was sad after his death. He deserves happy life Then he was brought back to life with erased memories. It's not a coincidence that he met Meena (in original timeline Meena was noone and Thawne Flash never heard about her). He fell in love with Meena, sacrificed his dream for her. He really loves her and they both deserve happy life together. I hope that Thawne won't be killed by WellsThawne or someone else. He is a great scientist (I think that he is greater scientist than Barry, Cisco, Stein and all versions of Wells all together). He can be a great hero

Considering how this version of Thawne "ahem" Eobard is brutally killed towards the end of this show it's sad that this heroic version could live his dream of being more than just a hero. I almost cried watching this😖

This is practically Thawne's true personality, before the negative speed force controlled him to turn him into someone evil, when the speed force took away his memories and took away his speed and his memories returned to how he was.

That's a good theory plus if you add Thawnes reasoning as to why he hates Barry, it can be inferred that the hatred he felt helped boost the negative speed force inside him
Thawne became evil because of a mix of obsession with the flash and the negative speed force yes, the negative speed force here runs on rage, hatred, negative emotions. when nora had the chance to use the negative speed force so she could keep existing she didn't because the negative speed force would've corrupted her

I realize that in the CW Flash, every single Earth in the Multiverse has a doppelganger. I honestly thought this was the Earth-1 Eobard Thawne, since The flash was fighting a different Eobard Thawne as the Reverse Flash from a different time period. Eobard Thawne was born in 2151 on New Prime Earth (which has to be either Earth 59 or Earth 60, I don't know what Earth's in the Multiverse is known as Earth Prime). But sadly this is the same Eobard Thawne that keep popping back and forth between The Flash and DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

This reminds me of one of the DC comics where Barry Allen forgives Thawne and reverse flash gets erased from reality forever and a new timeline starts where Thawne forgets about being the reverse flash and is founder of The flash museum But in this scenario this Barry Allen goes to that timeline and basically sees the other Thawne
In a way all Thawne wanted was Love and Recognition. Only problem was he went about it in the way. Underneath all that murderous genius self absorbed science nerd with speed, he's but a lost man. Maybe people had pushed him in the right direction and didn't actually gave up on him and forgiven him starting with his brother (first victim) he'd have had a different life all together, Negative or not😶. Coz what are we without Love? He's Reedemable.

I haven't watched The Flash in years... what the hell did they do to the suit? The first few seasons it looked great. This looks like a halloween store item.
People keep forgetting this Thawne used to be a speedster, which means he already was the reverse flash but the time line gave him a second chance because of what he did in legends of tomorrow. I doubt this is the origin of Reverse flash because he already was him before, he's not a past Thawne that becomes the reverse flash because he Meena, from what the ending of the episode showed us either two things is gonna happen, Tom Thawne is gonna get is speed back or the still force is gonna give back OG Thawne back his memories, which in someway gives Tom's Thawne back his powers. If the last one happens then I guess Meena would be the key into fighting a OG reverse flash and Tom's Reverse flash team up. Also OG reverse flash (in the show) became what he is because he realized he couldn't become like the flash and was destined to fight him, not because the flash didn't save someone he cared about.

Seeing the amnesia thing with Thawne reminds me of when Barry lost his memory in season 3. He didn’t know he was a speedster until later. What if something similar happens with Thawne?

I'm starting to think that what will happen is this Eobard will eventually become a speedster but will instead side with the Flash while the Eobard that has Wells' face will get his powers back and sooner or later, they confront each other
If wells thawne gets his speed, what does the thawne with meena become, does the writers kill him. does he work with his og self so he could get that one out of prison and work together to kill past self barry and dissapears like in the newspaper. does meena die due to her heart sickness and instead of working with his other self he goes into rage creating the negative speed force and kills the past self barry from there. idk

@@SoniaSpectrum maybe younger Thawne kills older Thawne, and as team Flash are against killing even the worst Thawne, they cast him out or show disapproval. Then younger Thawne feels that The Flash, his hero, doesn't care about him so he becomes Reverse Flash.

Wow this caught me so off guard! I love this type of writing !! Actually crazy for us the audience who knows Thawne has been this pain to Flash since the beginning so we expect the same but man this just made sense coming from comics.

This is practically Thawne's true personality, before the negative speed force controlled him to turn him into someone evil, when the speed force took away his memories and took away his speed and his memories returned to how he was.

This is the comic Thawne verison when the flash and Reverse Flash both forgave each other Thawne disappear but later became a Professor of the Flash Mesuem and He was the person he want to be.
Notice when Barry said "You are better me" this is reference to the season 2x11 "you ruin my life because you couldn't be me" Thawne said "I became better than you".

I have a theory, what if the negative speed force changed Thawne into a bad person because when Nora and doctor Menna Dahwan uses the negative speed force they turned into bad.
That's a good theory plus if you add Thawnes reasoning as to why he hates Barry, it can be inferred that the hatred he felt helped boost the negative speed force inside him
Thawne became evil because of a mix of obsession with the flash and the negative speed force yes, the negative speed force here runs on rage, hatred, negative emotions.
when nora had the chance to use the negative speed force so she could keep existing she didn't because the negative speed force would've corrupted her

I realize that in the CW Flash, every single Earth in the Multiverse has a doppelganger. I honestly thought this was the Earth-1 Eobard Thawne, since The flash was fighting a different Eobard Thawne as the Reverse Flash from a different time period. Eobard Thawne was born in 2151 on New Prime Earth (which has to be either Earth 59 or Earth 60, I don't know what Earth's in the Multiverse is known as Earth Prime). But sadly this is the same Eobard Thawne that keep popping back and forth between The Flash and DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
I have a feeling that something will happen where Thawne taps into the negative speedforce and then gets his memory back and then that snowballs into S9.
they really could have used this for a thawne origin story, instead of barry saving a crowd, barry could have not trusted thawne as a mistake and that tipped thawne to hate him

This reminds me of one of the DC comics where Barry Allen forgives Thawne and reverse flash gets erased from reality forever and a new timeline starts where Thawne forgets about being the reverse flash and is founder of The flash museum
But in this scenario this Barry Allen goes to that timeline and basically sees the other Thawne
In a way all Thawne wanted was Love and Recognition. Only problem was he went about it in the way. Underneath all that murderous genius self absorbed science nerd with speed, he's but a lost man. Maybe people had pushed him in the right direction and didn't actually gave up on him and forgiven him starting with his brother (first victim) he'd have had a different life all together, Negative or not😶. Coz what are we without Love? He's Reedemable.

this would be interesting. A Thawne who's not evil (yet?) and shows love for someone. It would be weird seeing him join team flash.
People keep forgetting this Thawne used to be a speedster, which means he already was the reverse flash but the time line gave him a second chance because of what he did in legends of tomorrow. I doubt this is the origin of Reverse flash because he already was him before, he's not a past Thawne that becomes the reverse flash because he Meena, from what the ending of the episode showed us either two things is gonna happen, Tom Thawne is gonna get is speed back or the still force is gonna give back OG Thawne back his memories, which in someway gives Tom's Thawne back his powers. If the last one happens then I guess Meena would be the key into fighting a OG reverse flash and Tom's Reverse flash team up.
Also OG reverse flash (in the show) became what he is because he realized he couldn't become like the flash and was destined to fight him, not because the flash didn't save someone he cared about.
