Back in the early 2000s I was at little hole in the wall lunch spot outside Nashville and after getting my food in the cafeteria style line I searched for an empty able in the packed dining room. After wandering around for a minute or two a voice said "sit down right here,son". Low and behold it was Jerry Reid and the other guy sitting with us was Chet Atkins! I was so in awe and shook up I could barely keep my food on my fork. Both were friendly, kind, and gracious. I will NEVER forget that day.

Anyhow, we got to see them film the scene where Jackie Gleason is in his car and it's jacked up and Burt Reynolds is at the gas pumps in that Firebird. If you look real close, there's a guy behind the window where they're talking to Jackie Gleason. That's my brother. He's wearing a tee shirt..
My uncle was in the movie, at the end sitting on the hay bails on the back of a flat bed, he always used to brag about that lol, and it was in Lakewood

If someone asks me now about great musicians I'll mention my rock legends but I'll also include the country greats too. Roy Clark especially is a legendary guitar player. Saw him just tearing it up on a 12 string ovation guitar. Incredible

Jerry Reed performed at a (now-defunct) restaurant called Po' Folks near me back in the early-'80s. I got the sense that Jerry would hand craft his touring show along the lines of how receptive the audience was at any given stop. Well, Jerry raised the roof on the joint with people crowding the two entrances and mobbing the sidewalk. It was a night to remember.
I spent 5 years pulling a refrigerated trailer from the midwest to west coast and back. A good friend and I used this as our theme when we left out headed back to the midwest.

Robert Blakemore I grew up with country and rock. But I never appreciated how good the country artists were. If someone asks me now about great musicians I'll mention my rock legends but I'll also include the country greats too. Roy Clark especially is a legendary guitar player. Saw him just tearing it up on a 12 string ovation guitar. Incredible
Yeah - this was pretty much the only song I knew by Jerry Reed, but I'd never seen him actually PLAY it. Great performance!

Jerry Reed performed at a (now-defunct) restaurant called Po' Folks near me back in the early-'80s. I got the sense that Jerry would hand craft his touring show along the lines of how receptive the audience was at any given stop. Well, Jerry raised the roof on the joint with people crowding the two entrances and mobbing the sidewalk. It was a night to remember.
Always good to hear someone that is as good live as they are recorded.
