netflix: hold my beer also netflix: oh crap why are we losing subscriptions we used only the finest black actors and we got rid of the racist black lamborghini
This movie just gave off the vibe that the actors were not doing it for money, but for fun as well. That makes this movie a classic. Coming up with Roger Moore as a wealthy businessman who thinks he is James Bond, with a different girl next to him in every scene, driving a tricked out Aston is pure genious, as is the fact that they were all making fun of each other with blatant but funny namecalling like "Chocolate Monk" or "Goodyear Blimp" Todays "stars" are always in it for the money, and sexist or rude jokes (even made completely tongue in cheek, without any vile meanings) are a big nono nowadays.
No way could we ever do this now! HollyWOKE no longer has any of the talent required to make such a movie! It's a fact that HollyWOKE has no talent whatsoever left in any way, shape or form! All we can do is sit back and watch it over and over and over again and wonder just where we went wrong.
I was once late to the airport and was seriously speeding to get there on time, i was then i was overtaken by like 20+ Countach's and Diablo's which sounded amazing, then to top it all a XJ220 came past at i am guessing somewhere over 170mph+ as i was doing over a 100mph and it came past like i was standing still. I got to drive one when I was 15, my uncle ran an auction in Florida and I got to drive it about 100 feet LOL but I still got to drive it!!! its like sitting in a bathtub and just as hard to get out of
@@brianjosey8113 i gather they're hard to get out of. I was at the lights next to a new lambo and they can take off BETTER than that. It's on my channel about 18 months ago. They're so fast at take off you can barely believe it
@@brianjosey8113.... Top speed of a Lambo is 160. It has Major aerodynamic flaws. It looks like it could go really fast, but it can't .
I'm starting to feel my age when I see most of the cast aren't around anymore. It was a great movie which I still enjoy.
In the early 90s this Movie was show in the German TV. I saw it 20 times 👍👍 Now I'm 44 years old and would see it again and again 😅
What a collection of talent in one movie. 👍
What an opening scene! I was probably 9 years old when I saw this in the 80's, in the U.K.
The car was just from another planet and the ladies blew my mind and all backed with an amazing song.
Who knew a few decades later I'd have driven hot cars and quick bikes on the very roads in this video.
Still haven't managed to do them in a black Lambo. That front spoiler is just the coolest.
Never say never, so they say.
Front spoiler didn't help aero, it slowed the car down and didn't add downforce. It was only there to meet bumper height regulations for the US.
Sensible Me - Regulations of bumper height, sounds reasonable.
Proper Me - It's a bad arse Lambo with two hot chicks, tearing up an Interstate highway.
Literally my teenage dream. I've rode high powered motorbikes on that very road. Still waiting for that Lambo moment X
It's coming.......
@@michaelross7153
You want this Lambo. I might also...
But there's a Viper I'm chasing.
Good luck to your endeavours.
@@bedlamite42
I'm *pretty sure* the front spoiler was never installed on any real road car, it was just for the movie.
quite a few car importers in the late 1970's installed them on Countaches in order to get them to meet US safety regulations, before Lamborghini themselves started putting bigger bumpers on the US export versions - but a lot of owners removed the factory made giant bumpers because they looked tacky and awkward as hell@@xmo552
Fantastic opening to a film that I remember fondly when I was growing up. Shocking that the main ensemble cast of Burt Reynolds, Roger Moore, Farrah Fawcett, Dom Deluise, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Junior and Jack Elam are no longer with us.
hell this is my all time favorite movies and didn't have a clue it was ray Steven
Same here
@@eligebrown8998 I don't know why I just always assumed it was Mel Tillis
One of the best movies of all time
V12 engine Note and the fancy front spoiler. Open road bliss.❤
0:03 that upshift to get in higher rpm is beautiful.
That's always been my favorite part of the whole opening scene
Downshift, not upshift. Ignorance laid bare
One of the best film intro I've seen. V12 Lamborghini engine original sound Is a sinfony
"Symphony" and I'm sorry to break it too you, the sound was overdubbed using a Ferrari Boxer engine.....
@@Tommyblueeyes so what? The guy likes it...
❤❤You have got to love the sound of a Lamborghini ❤❤
Remember my dad renting this on VHS and we were just blown away.
Double-clutching on the upshifts, love it!
Im happy that my dad showed my this movie the Lamborghini countach has been a childhood favorite of mine and i got a picture next to one in honor of my dad and this film i even bought the lego set! 😀🤟
A lot of legendary stars in this movie. I don't believe we could duplicate a movie like that today.
We’ll never have the stars we had back then
No one would let you make this today or convoy or smokey and the bandit
netflix: hold my beer
also netflix: oh crap why are we losing subscriptions we used only the finest black actors and we got rid of the racist black lamborghini
This movie just gave off the vibe that the actors were not doing it for money, but for fun as well.
That makes this movie a classic.
Coming up with Roger Moore as a wealthy businessman who thinks he is James Bond, with a different girl next to him in every scene, driving a tricked out Aston is pure genious, as is the fact that they were all making fun of each other with blatant but funny namecalling like "Chocolate Monk" or "Goodyear Blimp"
Todays "stars" are always in it for the money, and sexist or rude jokes (even made completely tongue in cheek, without any vile meanings) are a big nono nowadays.
No way could we ever do this now! HollyWOKE no longer has any of the talent required to make such a movie! It's a fact that HollyWOKE has no talent whatsoever left in any way, shape or form! All we can do is sit back and watch it over and over and over again and wonder just where we went wrong.
Great movies, still watch them and enjoy them. Sad that most of those stars are gone now.
They were on some car cruise and were using their cars as they were meant to be used :).
That V12 lambo noise always gives me chills such a iconic engine.
Omg! Can you imagine how much fun it would be to part of this movie
If you're a certain age, this Countach is the only supercar ❤️
Agreed
Always thought Porche was kind of lame. The Go-Bots of supercars.
I was 15 years old. Still remember the theater lights dimming and this opening having everyone stunned. So Cool...
Ray Steven's is awesome like Ray Stevens there will never be another cast of stars able to pull off what they did here with cannonball..
Gave away my copy of this dvd but couldn't be without this film in my collection so bought another copy,my all time favourite film just because its pure fun,no egos, just hollywood stars having a blast, hope they never attempt a remake
Actually, in a way they have. A movie called "Speed Zone" came out in the early 90's. I read back then that it was a "loose" remake. It was called The Cannonball Run III" in other countries. Only the the actor who plays the Shiek is in the movie, but for a short scene only.
They dont make movies with this ‘feel’ anymore. Awesome!
They don’t make movies that are pure fun anymore.
@@martinjrgensen8234 Yea a lot of action and death these days in the theaters 🎭. A strong soundtrack helps and of course great cinematography
Cannonball Run II has been making the rounds on cable recently but I haven't seen the original Cannonball Run in years.

@@frozen2ninja I'm pretty sure I have it in my DVD collection, I just haven't pulled it out to watch for a while.
I was 9 years old.. I had just sat down with my popcorn in my hand and my drink in the other, the movie started on the big screen and it was quiet in the theatre... thats until the movie started, just like on this TH-cam video..Ill never forget the sound from that lambo in that theatre, was soo loud and just wow!!!! 1981!!! RE-START THE VIDEO and CRANK IT UP
What a time it was to be young in this country growing up with classic movies like this in the early 80s !!!...
This opening still gives me goosebumps.
One of the best films ever. Seriously, what a cast!!!! How good were the 80’s btw? Take me back, please ❤
All time favorite movie intro. The sound of that Lambo V12 screaming through 12 exhaust tips is just sexy. This movie is what made me fall in love with the Countach
So many stars in one fun-filled movie.
I love this movie.
Still remember mid-80s, me and my friends, 8yo, in front of a VHS, looking at something we only had on our walls and trading cards, speed and sound like nothing we had ever seen or heard before.
One of my all time favourite movies and opening scenes. That lambo is just so iconic
12 years old in 80.. Didn't get much better... Until history of the world, then the 80s blew up.. We had it sooo damn great
THIS is how you make the perfect OP to a movie! The awesome combination of catchy music, action camera shots and the BEST sound any car has ever produced :)
All these years I never knew that Ray Stevens sang this. One of my all time favorite movie openings and now after all these years I like it better now that I know who sings it.
Same, had no idea he sang it despite having watched the movies fanatically as a kid and listening to Ray Stevens for years.
Out of the principal cast I think there were maybe 7 people that are still alive. A couple of the names I didn't recognize so I'm not sure about them.
My 16 year old son is mad for for this movie, t shirts, posters it's fantastic. One of my favourites.
Then he needs an epic late 70s/80s must-see list! Escape From New York, The Princess Bride, Stripes, Animal House, Krull, Conan The Barbarian, Conan The Destroyer, Final Countdown, Big Trouble In Little China, The Breakfast Club, The Outsiders, Red Dawn, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Back To The Future, Beverly Hills Cop, The Golden Child, Ghostbusters, Top Gun, Gremlins, Ladyhawke, Better Off Dead, One Crazy Summer, Airplane...hell, there are probably others I forgot or left off!
(Definitely add Smokey and the Bandit to that list! And Mad Max:Beyond Thunderdome!)
@@jerseycaptSo I am not the last one left that loves loud, proud pointless lighthearted entertainment, I f you like this type have a look at the movies of Hal Needham
Just another reason the 80"s were the best!
I don't remember how many times I watched this movie at the theaters and on TV in the 80s.
Been watching this movie for decades, and never realized that the song was performed by Ray Stevens!🤯
Lost count(ach) how many times ive watched this film, love it!
Absolutely awesome song and hilarious movie.
80's at it's finest 👌 👏
Love the cannonball run
