A friend totaled his car so he sold his stereo to a friend and sold his CB radio to me. I paid him $50 and went to Radio Shack to get a PA speaker to mount behind the grill of my car.
Uh, Do not get me wrong but I do like this piece but like some of Johnny Cash's work, this is more narration than actual singing. I like especially the segment about the micro-bus.

Ol man had a CB in his pickup and he would let me talk to the truckers. He always told me “stay outta them trucks! You stay in school!” I tried that but I was quickly bored. I “cheated” my way into a CDL and a truck driving job. It was cool as hell for a few years and it was great $$ at the time but then I was stuck in it. Started out driving in Alberta from Red Deer to Calgary and out on the Forestry Trunk Road. Moved back to the States after my Dad died, spent 45 years in the seat of Freightliners and KW's. Favorite engine was a 3406 Cat with a Garret t-90 turbo. Specialized in Haz-Mat. Retired over 8 years ago with a few million miles. Loved every minute of it. Stay safe out there !

Awesome song brings back great memories as a 8 yr old kid 57 could never get a driver's license but my dream as a kid was to be a long distance truck driver bring back awesome memories a retired roofer after after 49 yrs and never drove any kind of vehicle love it

As a flake headed college boy in 1996, me and my friends cranked this song on our way up to Wolf Creek Pass to do some backcountry snowboarding. Of course we played Wolf Creek Pass as well.
In 1976 dad gave me his 1959 Ford truck to drive in High School. My boyfriend lived in High Point. I lived in Sophia. It was long distance to call each other so we decided on a time and we talked by CB radio that dad had in that old Ford and he had in his jeep...Good times...
