Hi there Lance, I've been studying your videos to try and answer some questions to issues I have with my 58 FE-35 which would run with a tow eventually but wouldn't from the key being turned with a good battery.
I fettled the air intake side of things and moved on to the fuel as the owner reckoned that it had some dirty diesel and never went the same after.
I replaced all the filters and cleaned the one in the tank and the one on the injector pump and still no luck. I found the lift pump wasn't pumping correctly so replaced with a new one.
I now get fuel upto the injector pump when bleeding using the lift pump however, when I turn the tractor over, there is no fuel coming out of the injector lines.
I opened the top and found the stop slide was sticking but also the governor spring was incorrect. The small rivet and spring were not there and going by the second number on the serial plate, the spring was totally in the wrong place.
I ordered a new kit which had these replacements in the kit.
Having watched you videos, I though, yeah I can do this.
First mistake was I didn't set the timing on the tractor before removing the pump and oil filler housing as one.
Next I wanted to take the head off the pump to check the little rollers and pistons, which seem fine and we're moving freely but not sure if they had been stuck as I had to use a plastic hammer to get the head out.
While the head was off, o also found the rivet from the governor plate down in the pump housing.
So rebuilt the pump as best I can but I'm now stuck with how to set the timing with the tractor and the pump. I know there's a hole in the bellhousing that you can poke a screwdriver into to lock the engine at TDC I belive but I thought the pump needs to inject 20 or so degrees before TDC? Sorry its a long one but any help would be so gratefully received.
    Many thanks from Northumberland, GB.👍

    • @BundyBearsShed

Dont worry too much about the timing it is easy to sort out and hard to get wrong. The pump has a master spline and if you bolt it up and line up the little mark on the bolt on flange it should be ok. Have a read through the bulletins on here as well. bundybearsshed.com.au/technical-library/

Gday mate, Appreciate your video's. I have just resealed my CAV pump on FE35, Unfortunately i did not take note of the positioning of the Circlip. is there a means of putting it back in and positioning the ends to the housing, & how does it effect the timing??

    • @BundyBearsShed

It is hard to get the timing wrong, but to check the position you can blow air up no 1 outlet and turn the pump until it locks up. I think I show that on my MF65 videos.

    Gday,
I am somewhat confused, re timing of the pump. I have rechecked everything with the circlip and everything is back in original positioning. However, I have wound the flywheel around so the 1/4 “ drill bit is in location. This is 10-16Deg btdc I believe!
The no#1 injector outlet on the pump outlet is clearly marked with U, but there in no U on the timing marks for adjacent the circlip. When I align the master spline for the pump the timing mark inside aligns shows a G??? Am I doing this right? I have tried the compressed air trick with No#1 outlet on pump but unable to accurately feel the lock up. I don’t have hydraulic tester. I hope you can help??

Lance 2 things ya might wanna know.
First that pump is not gunna work because you forgot to install the veins in the lift pump before installing the end cap.....yeah I spotted your deliberate mistake. I know ya just trying to get the comments up hahahah.
Second thing is you need to try using manwell focus on your camera, especially on the close up shots. When you are installing the top cover the camera spent 1/2 it's time focused on the John Deere sticker on your tool cabinet. Then occasionally it would actually focus on the pump and I could actually read all the dirty finger prints on it.

    Hallo Bundy,
Diesel an.
All diese Maßnahmen bringen jedoch keine Erfolg.

I've used your video to deal with my MF275 CAV injector. It had sat for nearly 10 years, and it looks like it had a lot of water in it. The inlet filter, springs. and little check valve were cruddy, the metering valve was seized, and the pistons in main pump were frozen solid, and there was a film of crud on everything. Got it cleaned up and back together, and bench testing, three of the four outputs spit slightly (nowhere near as vigorously as yours). I took it apart again, looking for a problem on one output, blew out all the passages, and reassembled. Now it doesn't even spit. Repeated, and still won't spit, but it seems like it's trying. Is there any chance that higher rpm might wake the thing up? Wish I could get it to spit like yours did.

The data plate on the pump has been painted over and can't see the model # and other info I have only one very small seep/leak that collects and drips (1 drop/minute) from "Head Locating Bolt" (index #118) installed on the "Automatic Advance Device Housing and Piston" (index #106). This bolt appears to be a built-up assembly (when installed and viewed from the bottom, it has a slotted head within the diameter of the bolt head). The leak appears to seep/accumulate at the interface of the O.D. of the slotted screw and the I.D. of the bolt head. Question: Can I remove this bolt (index 118) and only replace any internal seals without removing the pump? Thanks for your help.

The dilemma saga ! Why would my tractor tend to over heat, when set at the original timing advance mark (on the gear cover) when all l have done is a 100% engine rebuild ?
Should l advance it to where it had to be set (for power) after the inj pump was rebuilt 5yrs ago ? Before they built the pump l would have black smoke occasionally , but not after , even with the advance, unless l really bogged it out at about 1800-2000 rpm ! & with it set at full advance it is really noisy! & yet not hard to start !
Would it not be better to adjust the amount of fuel delivery on the inside of the pump ? Question is how much ? Is it strictly an experimental exercise ? I will send some pics buy E MAIL ! THANKS

It’s just a square ish plate on the side with 2 screws holding it on and the fuel line from the filter runs into it. Your calling it a timing plate cover.

It also has another coming out closer to the gear end going up to the air intake for cold starting i guess. My pump is on a Ford 3 cylinder in a New Holland L783 Skid Steer. I have fuel to the bleed port but nothing coming out of the cylinder line.

Are those bolts @ 14.30-15.30, actually 12 point or torques ? IS There any # relationship between measurement to moving the plate at 15min & % amount of fuel delivered for more HP
I hate cork because it crushes so easy & usually squeezes out & leaves a leak ! WHY is it that as you rotate the pump fuel squirts back up ?

I feel I explain things way better there than in this first video. Hey Bundy....I'm working on a FE35 pump at the moment on an engine that won't start (pump is primed but won't inject), so I'm investigating. I took the rear cover off and it is evident that the transfer pump ring internal surface is not round, as the carbon vanes have clearance in the vertical alignment, but a zero fit in the horizontal plane. Is this normal? Is the internal shape of the ring round or eliptical/oval? I am trying to get to the bottom of what is serviceable vs what is not before I take it to the pump shop for new parts! Any help much appreciated....
