Nice to see the Baume and Mercier featured as I think this is really underrated with their finishing and Baumatic movements.
This was actually the first time I spent a long time with a B&M. I was blown away by their quality. They are great.
I just wish the movement, and labeling on the dial wasn't called Baumatic.

Hermes is underrated watch brand. When they dropped their "Hermès Arceau Le Temps Voyageur Dual Time Zone" (had to look the name up, its soo long) they really showed the world their capabilities with watches.
We need more videos like this, highlighting non-hype watches
They really are underrated, especially with their designs. They have some of the coolest watches around.
Before this one they have made bunches of great watches already. Their designs and execution are not something you can find from traditional brands.
Thank you Adrian Barker, finally someone with true wristwatch knowledge to genuinely recognize and feature Baume et Mercier. Not only that B&M shares deep history in watch making, meticulous finishing and accuracy it also belongs to a key luxury watch group Richemont. It puzzles me why other watch journalists don’t feature Baume et Mercier, i truly question their professionalism.
Love that Baume and Mercier, the dial is beautiful and the 5 days power reserve is ridiculously good. Seems like a really versatile piece.
have you ever had in on your wrist? In my opinion the watch is unfortunately much less interesting in person. Especially the dial seems quite generic when you have it in your hands.@minimalistmaverick
I just bought a Hermès Slim Titane one week ago. It's a watch I have thought about for years. Stylish design and fantastic wearability make me smile everyday.

There are just enough watch connoisseurs who love and collect Baume&Mercier timepieces.
I really like the Riviera. I have the 42 mm black dial. It is one of my most versatile watches, and such a great deal. For me it is by far the best integrated bracelet sports watches under 5k, and one of the best watches under 4k.
100% is the best-integreated bracelet sports watch under £5k. It ticks all the right boxes.
Baume & mercier most definitely killed it with their riveria skeleton, I think they're about to make a comeback. Hopefully at least if this is the consistent standard that they'd have in their watches

I purchased the Riviera Baumatic and ordered a rubber strap as well. Took a little while to connect with it but I really enjoy wearing it now, especially on the rubber.
The B&M Rivera, for less than $4K, is REALLY close to the $14K IWC Ingenuer.
Just got the Riviera 10717 - love at first sight, would've gladly paid way more than the retail price for this level of detail.
Happy to see the Riviera featured! I have had a Clifton for a while now and cannot rate it enough. The quality is amazing for the price! It may be a bit under the radar but I think that perfectly suits an everyday watch.
Around the time the featured Riviera was released, I managed to pick up the M0A10617 DLC version on the rubber strap for £2,360.
It’s become a fast favourite in my collection, ridiculous value, really comfortable, goes with anything and after six weeks of regular (but not constant) wear without needing to wind it, it had only varied +5 seconds from when I originally set it.
I also love how different the smoked dial looks depending on light conditions!

@@nong78 the AD was called TIC Watches, but I should probably clarify it’s not available at that price currently. It took about six months to come across that deal online 😂
Not a mark on it yet. I’ve not been rough, but also not over careful. I’m pretty sure it would have some marks by now if the watch was polished stainless steel.
Love both of these pieces, beautifully designed. Would be great to see more content championing the less hyped pieces out there.
BM Riviera is a great watch for the price but personally feel the FC Highlife is on par for about $1000 less but 5 day PR makes the BM a better choice but in my opinion the BM is better than Ingenior IWC for $10k less
B&M is great! Top notch movement and quality at kinda sorta reasonable prices lol

I just purchased the Hermes GMT watch and it has became my favorite watch. Looks very understate. Yet I can not take my eye off due to the transparent gray dial. I find myself looking at it constantly and play with the GMT function. Thanks for sharing your review. Very Awesome..
I already have 2 Baume&Mercier watches and I'm also considering this Riviera because of their new Baumatic movement. They're indeed very nicely priced, or maybe other brands are just way too expensive for what they are. :) I think they want to keep it affordable to make a comeback and to become popular again.
Enjoy seeing different things. A whole lot of the same things floating around out there, so it's nice to explore "the different." Don't always hit, but when they do, they nail you between the eyes!

I had the Titan and Rosegold version of the BM for about three weeks on my wrist, the one with the non-in-house. Great watch but I couldn't make it fit perfectly. I realize more and more I only can wear watches with at least fineadjustments or better on the fly adjustmens or just leather straps

Very nice choices. If I wanted a sapphire dial though, Christopher Ward has been doing them for the last few years under the their Trident range at a 3rd of the cost of the B&M. Not in the same league of quality of movements I know

I’m a fan of Hermes because their leather working is world class, not that I could even afford a wallet from them. I would be happy to see them elevated in a similar vein as Cartier when talking about their watches if they stay on the current path. Mont Blanc is another crossover brand doing well with their new offerings. I’m all for more players in the field so long as they are being serious about horology.
What's on the wrist in this video? At the start. Is it a Explorer? I'm looking for a new daily and can't figure out what to get. The Black Bay 58 925 is tempting but I think it's too big as it's bigger than the normal 58.

Back in the early days of watch fora, the Hermes would have been slated for the radial flip. I like it even though it doesn't fit my lifestyle or budget.

Interesting that you picked a Hermes to look at. I ve been reading about Hermes as a watch manufacturer recently and really like the H08, it's one of those brands that does have history yet you are unlikely to see anyone else where one of their watches. What's your opinion on the H08 Adrian.

Gotta love the no hype. My daily is IWC Mark 16 and I'll probably get a Bond era Omega Seamaster at some point..... away from hype is where it's at
(In terms of these two, if I had 20k to spend on a watch I'd have to be boring and get a vintage Patek or something unique and special like a beautiful vintage Speedy, a gold Omega...or a 5 digit Rolex even....a lange.... man...too many options. So I couldn't justify Hermes.... same goes for Baume. With 3k I'd definitely be looking at Seamasters or vintage Omega)
Both brands are underrated. I don’t know that much about B&M, but I have a Hermès H08 that I love, what a super watch. Btw, did you have maybe a few extra cups of coffee before shooting the start of the video? 😏

B and M do a moon phase version of the Riviera, tried it on in an AD in Athens in June, regret NOT buying it as I’ve seen only one for sale since. Could have had itp for 4K, the finishing was great, well done for highlighting this watch, there’s a few ‘experts’ trashing it, tho I doubt they’ve been up close and personal

Nice video Adrian. Agree the B&M is a quality item especially for the money, however not sure about the design myself. The Hermes is really nice although the double moonphase from a few years ago, knocks that one into a cocked hat (whatever that is)! Both lovely, just not for me even if I had the money.
