What about me Teddy, what you gat for me. I’m your super fan too. I’m so jealous! Lol Keep the good work up buddy. You inform novices like us a lot. Cheers
I must have been interested in watches at an early age. I broke my arm in a bicycle accident and my family doctor set it and arm in a cast. I noticed his watch was nice, asked him about it. Baume & Mercier white face with 2 subdials and 2 pushers beside the crown. Years later broke a finger playing football in high school, same doctor same watch and still fascinated by his watch. This was in the 1960s.
Baume & Mercier is definitely underrated. Beautiful finishing and you cannot go wrong with the strap. Happy that you finally giving the brand some love. It's classy. You want something different but classy/stylish for the price and caliber of movement (considering the power reserve) you go with B&M. Great video!
Baume et Mercier was the watch brand that started my passion for fine time pieces. I purchased my first Baume 20 years ago with the Hampton automatic and have owned an additional 6 over the years. I still own 3 and have 4 Breitlings, an Omega, a Rolex and several others. I love the re-release of the Riviera. I’ll check out your site. Thanks Teddy!
Bought my first Baume et Mercier this year after4 Rolex, 2 omega….. riviera baumatic is quite nice and is what I bought. Just acquired a frederique constant. These watches are priced lower but offer excellent quality without the hype or waiting lists.
Teddy i was given this watch (blue dial) for a birthday recently and am so happy with it. Not only does it look stunning, but is so versatile as a casual or dress watch. Love the watch and love your channel. Keep up the great work
I own a Clifton and it is far better than how it looks in picture. In the shop I placed it side by side Tag Huer Carrera (day date) and it just smoked the Tag away although both are almost same price.
Hi Teddy! I own one in grey dial with greyish blue alligator strap. Yes it's alligator instead of embossed alligator style. Also said so in their website. I love the Clifton case design and the alternate polishing on the case. I agree Baumatic is underrated. Nice review by the way. Thanks
Hey Teddy. You might want to review the silicon balance spring info. Actually, to my knowledge, the Clifton does not have the silicon balance spring. The first models came with the BM12 movement with the TwinSpir silicon balance spring technology. Then B&M removed it on the later BM13 movement due to a patent infringement issue. The BM13 still grants antimagnetic resistance and 120 hour power reserve however. By the way, I own and love this watch. The blue dial is simply beautiful. Thanks for your review. ❤
I have to admit that Baumé and Mercier were not on my radar. You've definitely piqued my curiosity with this example. That’s an amazing power reserve for such an under-the-radar brand! I hope this piece sells tremendously well for them as it is certainly worthy of the public's attention. Oddly for my taste, I like it better on the strap than the bracelet. The white dial and simple bracelet just don’t give the "buy me" vibe. If the red dial wasn't so rapidly transitioned to black(-ish), I'd opt for that piece. You're correct about the blue being the best option but I've got a 36mm DateJust on stainless & white gold fluted bezel on a Jubilee and a Milgauss both with blue dials. Another blue dial is gravitating towards overkill.
Great video as always, you’ve been helping guide me through the world of watches to my first purchase of an automatic watch a week ago. The collection has begun!
The movement is quite fine, the power reserve is impressive, particularly if it’s mostly going to sit in one’s dresser. What does it for me are the proportions, they are stellar. The design language is fabulous, this would be a great choice for a one watch collection, at least to my taste. Someone who is a fan of Sinn’s 556 and really the larger 40mm derivative they offer, this watch is likely to be appealing. Given how successful Tudor has rightfully been in the 3-4K segment, this watch offers something they don’t - truly fine proportions. I really hope this watch gains traction because it’s a watch that will prove over time to be a real pleaser for those who own one.
I have two B&M watches, one vintage one new, both amazing quality and value for money. It's crazy how well the quality of the vintage one (1980's) is, it still looks like new and the movement (manual wind) is still 100% spot on. It did have its maintenance on regular base and is always good taken care of.
Love hearing about watches with magnetic resistance up to 15,000 Gauss. As I enter the Electrical Engineering field, these types of watches have peaked my interest. Thanks Teddy!
Teddy's presentation of this GORGEOUS Baume and Mercier is just exquisitely done (as usual). Never heard of this brand but 100% looks beautiful and adding to my collection. Thanks
Happy to see the Clifton getting some love! I have the white dial on the bracelet but ended up buying the strap and clasp too. Exceptional finishing and quality, I have received many compliments on the watch often from people wearing brands that cost a hell of a lot more than my humble Clifton. IMO it’s the perfect understated everyday watch.
Long time fan of Baume & Mercier and it is about time they get their due! I have had the Riviera for almost 20 years and it has been a tank of a watch! More recently purchased the Capeland chrono. Despite both having the ETA movements, that are extremely accurate and reliable! Kudos Teddy!
I bought mine as soon as it debuted. Along with its amazing caliber it reminded me of the JLC Geophysic True Second and I wondered if the same person who styled it might have designed or worked on the True Second when I thought about the Richemont tent. I bought it on a bracelet and bought the black leather strap to wear as a formal alternative.
That caliber is developed by Valfleurier and used in Cartier, IWC, Panerai. All of them claim it's totally inhouse..the Baume version is by far better finished and regulated vs Panerai at fraction of the price
Half a year ago I had the blue dial with bracelet on my wrist, although I bought a blue PRX, I could n‘t get this watch out of my mind. Finally I bought it a fortnight ago and since then I wear it daily. It is even with the bracelet so comfortable that you almost fogetbthat you are wearing a watch. I really appreciate your great video and the focus on the brand. Thank god it is overlooked, we all know what happens to the availability of hyped watches.
For me it would be a tough choice between this or the Frederique Constant Slimline Moonphase manufacture in a similar midnight blue. I appreciate the very clean design of the FC but I'm also quite impressed by this B&M's styling and heritage.
Very cool! I actually got this exact watch just over a year ago. Totally love it! And I love it more as it's a bit off of many peoples' radar. This watch is light, thin comfortable and good looking. The movement ticks all the right boxes. But I really love how the quick change spring bar is curved with the watch case Cheers buddy!
Baumé & Mercier is very underrated. The entire Clifton line is awesome, even the Chrono’s that use ETA 7750. The Clifton Chronographs are very well executed. I wouldn’t pay retail but on sale they’re worth every thin dime. Case finishing on the Clifton’s are outstanding at the price point. Even the finest quality photos online do no Justice to Baumé & Mercier. You have to hold it in your hands. Leather quality & stitching is superb. My next B&M Clifton this year will be the 45mm, manual wind with be small seconds @ 6’oclock. Awesome modern vintage style. 45mm is big for my skinny wrists but I still pull it off. The difference I save with Baumé & Mercier will be used to pay for the highest level of horology……. A. Lange & Sohne. Don’t get me started on Oris. Oris is criminally underrated & undervalued. The new in house(from scratch) Oris 400 calibre with 5 days power reserve is incredible. The Oris ProPilot X in titanium 39mm is a home run evolution of one of the best watches in History, the Pro Pilot.
Very good looking piece. I will definitely check these out. I’m currently looking for a green dial dress / casual style watch, so the green version may well be a contender. Sharp video as usual. All the best from the U.K. 🇬🇧
Great review and I’m glad you are raising awareness of this brand and this model. I think I don’t have anything to add to the review other than if they had placed the date wheel at the six o’clock it would have added better symmetry to an already beautiful design. I agree the watch is versatile: it can dress up for formal occasions and dress-down for less formal. At that price point it would be hard to beat.
Hey Teddy. I love your ongoing “Famous Watches in Movies” series. Have you ever thought about a “Famous Watches in Television” series? There are some fairly active horological sub-communities for a number of series (Succession, Six Feet Under, etc.)

I enjoyed the review. And am shopping for a lightly used one. Have a Rivera quartz i bought new 15 years ago. Needs a battery every 3 years for 10-20$, and just keeps going. So I'm sticking with the brand. Elegant and feature rich for a reasonable price.
I'm just waiting for a black dial Clifton all brushed steel bracelet and 10bar rating. Might be too much to ask for, but I have hopes. What a beautiful timepiece and you can't beat the look or specs!
Have exactly the same watch. It's awesome! Distressed brown leather works really well with the blue dial as a strap match option for a more casual look
I’m between this and a longine flagship moonphase and so far I’m leaning toward B&M because of how thin it is compared to the longines which looks thick

Love to see a video on value swiss brands....Revue Thommen, GEVRIL, Frank Dubarry has been popping up recently, RJ's, things like that. Are they worth the money? I have to think they are at least on par with the brands your promote. MIDO, Orient ect...
I think the brand is overlooked the same way that Jacob & Co, Chopard, Bulgari, and Gucci are. Those brands are known for their jewelry lines. The watches are thought of as fashion watches and not part of serious horology. Having said that, Baume & Mercier do make nice watches for lower prices than other comparable brands.
I am new to watch collecting and really like this blue Baumé and Mercier but wen to your website and couldn’t understand which was this model as they were a bunch of Clifton’s and all just had a number after. Non said this exact watch. I would really love it in midnight blue.
I do own a Malibu chrono that I got for a real steal. Despite being a little small for my wrist I like to put it on from time to time. The finishing quality is high, the name speaks for itself, the 7750 inside is a guarantee and with a milky white dial and strap it makes some eyes to look twice on it. Among the others in collection it's my fiancé n.1 choice for her elegant outfit. At the moment there are few other brands that delivers the same amount of "bang for bucks" sensation.
The Clifton Baumatic in Midnight Blue would be the perfect watch for dressier occasions. The color is beautiful. This is a brand that I became aware of back in the 80s and thought it would be t he perfect watch for a career professional.
It’s a very nice watch. However I do feel it could’ve been even better. But Richemont wouldn’t allow B&M compete with the group’s brands that are higher positioned. Than said the movement inside is possible due to B&M being under the Richemont umbrella.
Teddy, Can you review a brand that has been making noise out of Australia called Panzera.. solid construction and have a collection that utilizes swiss and japanese movements and also some quartz options. Love to hear your thoughts on the brand!
Teddy is the king of watch videos. Diplomatic, well spoken, clear, concise and educational. Thanks for all the hours legend!

At the moment there are few other brands that delivers the same amount of "bang for bucks" sensation.
isn't this movement the cosc certified version of the IWC 32111? the same movement that's in the IWC Ingenieur, Mark XX, Spitfire, etc etc.
The Riviera 10622 on your site has my attention. I'll walk to your shop from Lakewood.
The Clifton Baumatic in Midnight Blue would be the perfect watch for dressier occasions. The color is beautiful. This is a brand that I became aware of back in the 80s and thought it would be t he perfect watch for a career professional.
My favourite watch in my collection 🥰
I recently purchased a B&M for < $1000. It’s a beautiful watch.
Super review, a quick look in their chronographs would also be interesting!
Keep on the good work ! 👌❤️👍
Great watch. Wearing them for a year or so and it is fantastic. It is very wearable almost for any occassion. First sight love.
Convincing review :) just ordered B&M Clifton w/white dial and rose gold accented case model.
@Teddy Baldassarre Wow! The diamond encrusted black dial Rolex looks amazing. You're incredibly generous to randomly offer it to a fan!
Are Baume & Mercier fairly robust? It seems to be that a 5-bar water resistance isn't that strong a watch . . ?
Delicate to the point of clearly aimed at a certain type of individual. Great if you’re into that sort of thing.
