The open web is already a thing of the past. I use WordPress because I 'm used to it, but I'm sure that AI can build me fast, secure and beautiful websites. For now, WordPress is just more convenient because the code is ready.
Hey Mark and AH team, consider a more natual, conversational format for this news channel. It's too over-produced and over-scripted, sounds like I'm watching a legacy media segment. You literally say "let's dive into" 2-4 per episode... I know you've said you use LLMs to help you with the scripting for these videos, but honestly, if you just sit down and do an off the cuff video with no jump cuts, edits, b-rolls and just deliver the news like we're sitting on a table chatting, it would be 100 times better. Similar to what you're doing with your podcast. Just my 2 cents, since I've been watching you for many years. Chrees.
It comes down to a break in trust. You now have to worry about who might be next. I, for one, have begun looking at alternatives. It's making more sense to find a solution that encapsulates both a web platform to build on and hosting that isn't dependent on separate third-party players to work.
I have running multiple WordPress sites and is no sense to said we are going to leave WordPress because of this. AI is reshaping everything, we no longer need third party plugins.
Matt Mullenweg is, definitely. Certainly not everyone at Automattic. We need him to step down, then there´s a good chance that everything will be fine again
They've obviously gone too far. Matt is being a greedy petty butthole.. That said the idea that this issue is a reason to move platforms to a closed source system is silly. The whole benefit of being on an open platform like WordPress is because you won't have a scenario where the owner/company can just kill your business because they don't like you. Unfortunately Matt just proved that something like that actually CAN happen with WordPress however it's still far less likely to happen on WordPress than it is on any of these other closed source platforms like Shopify, Webflow, Wix etc.

It's worth remembering that WordPress itself began as a fork of b2/cafelog...
that's matt's hypocrisy
Matt's actions have been about one thing, his ego. His actions have shown no thought for the people that matter, those actually using WordPress.
Now is the time for Google to update Blogger...
Nah, that ship already sailed
Yes, Matt can cut off automatic updates of plugins, but all the proprietary competitors can cut off your whole site whenever they want to
Matt is a part of World Economic Forum. You will not have open source, GPL, self hosted web solution and be happy.

What do you have in mind? What is there, that is not dependent on a third-party?

Exactly bro.. I actually used chatgpt to program my homepage and it looks cool than I expected
Wow...first SEM rush, now this. Let's hope WP competitors lower their prices if/when they move in.
Very good video!
This is interesting!
Will this affect hostinger?
Webflow needs to step up and take over WP's market share
😂 funny
😂 until people see their Webflow bill...back to WP
@@nickm1049 true. Webflow’s pricing is so dumb but hopefully they’ll shift their target audience if WP keeps on sinking to the bottom
Automaticc is just being petty, vindictive and greedy.

i use elementor and love it. wonder how it will respond to this if it goes further
If you love Elementor then check out Breakdance, it's 100 times better.

Rubbish
*sigh* male ego's
"let me use this opportunity to insult an entire gender, maybe that will give me more views and subs" - average room temperature IQ female
clearly Matt's needs to be deflated
