also; how you getting on with the braid on multiplayer? Do you have or wear a thumb pad/brake thingy ? I used to be able to cast miles in my youth and practiced for days. Now I use a f/spool and don’t feel confident using a multiplier for fear of birds nests !!! Is it worth going back to it for the distance do you think? Cheers. See you at Shoreham some time. Great stuff Paul. I went to Brighton East beach - there were so many fishing you'd think it was a comp. No! They were there for the plaice - which were plentiful! Hey there,… just chiming in a bit late,… 🤗
Anyway,… I feel it’s a matter of preference between braid or mono ,… also it also depends on the action whether you like it or not …. I like braid because of its smaller diameter to higher strength ratio and I can load much more line on my multiplier reels …. I’ve never liked the coils on slack mono line ,… braid is always relaxed and supple but having zero stretch on braid, I have about 20 yards of mono top shot same strength as braid or higher connected by FG knot and the knot is always on opposite side of your thumb for obvious reasons 🤣
I don’t fish with bait as you guys do,… I cast 3 to 4 oz. Bucktail with a 12’ heaver paired w/ Abu 10000c for Striped Bass … kinda like the bass you have in the UK but ours have stripes here,… state side …. There’s my 2 cents worth 🤣
    Tight Lines 👍😎🤙

Hi there and big good morning from the UK and loving the concise review.
Envious of you catching striped bass as always something I would love to do.
As you say lines all about preference and so much choice.
One thing I have noticed is the more expensive braid seems better re diameter and wear and tear.

Great stuff, that's 1 more than I've managed this year👍
I fish 30lb 4 strand with mono shock leader on my light beach rod, works for me, the mono just takes any whoopsie out of the swing plus abrasion resistance on sea bed and a bit of a cushion for lightly hooked fish.
Also just try a few casts with reel down the rod, maybe about 14" from the butt for retrieve comfort.
For me personally pendulum with reel down feels so much more natural than up, in fact I can't do it with reel up😭
If you get spool slip just tape a strip of inner tube to your rod below the reel, personally I can't do without a grip, especially when cold and wet.

    • @SeaFishingWithPaul
      @SeaFishingWithPaul  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi Daz am slowly getting the hang of braid and will try a mono shock leader as using braid straight through and have had a couple of moments but am going to persevere till I get it consistently right. Regarding reel down think I also need to do this and am looking at removing the reel seats and getting the adjustable ones that can be moved on the butt.
Advice always appreciated as fishing is all about learning and trying new ideas to try and get an edge and for me at the moment all about distance.
Not fishing for next couple of weekends work etc but am going to Chesil at end of month and cannot wait. Cheers for taking the time to watch and comment really appreciate it take care 👍🐠🐠😃🍺

The key in mastering the pendulum for me was getting my feet in the right place. Throughout the whole cast, left foot points 12 o'clock (straight out to sea, the direction you want the cast to go), right foot points to 3pm. If you watch, your feet both point at 3pm when you start to cast, which means you aren't getting as much body rotation (power) into the cast. Also, when you turn into the cast, look up where you want the lead to go, don't look where you want the cast to land, or your rod tip ends up lower.

    • @SeaFishingWithPaul

Hi Ian, brilliant advice and much appreciated, it would seem this style of casting is a dark art but I am going to keep at it. • @SeaFishingWithPaul

Hi Bruce I use power pro braid and buy 1300 metre spools but expensive. The plus side is very low diameter compared to cheaper brands. Diameter I use is 0.36 mm and is 30 kg breaking strain which in old money is 66lbs. I generally do not use leaders but if fishing with big weights would use a 80lb shock leader. When I say big weights anything over 6 ounces.
